Perfect view of Empire State Building lit up for Thanksgiving. Loved the shutters between the bedroom and sitting room. ... Would have liked to stay another night. Clean rooms. Comfortable. Good value. Only problem was we were give a key to a room that was already occupied (fortunately not at the moment we walked in). Staff apologized and gave us a new room - no other problems.

This hotel made our stay super enjoyable. The room was literally a one bedroom apartment incl FULL kitchen. The location was ... terrific and centrally located to fabulous landmarks in the city (Empire State Building I looked at several times a day through my 9th floor window!). My family and I walked to Times Square in 10 minutes. The staff was a little dry, but who goes to NewYork for the Hotel Staff, right???? So many wonderful restaurants and eateries around, I know I gained a great deal of weight lol! Will definetely reccomend to anyone who needs their own little flat for a week! THUMBS WAAAY UP!

The hotel room was large by New York standards, but the bathroom smelled of urine when I arrived. The little kitchen was ... complete, and every appliance worked well. It was cleaned every day by the chambermaid. A microwave would have been a better choice than a full four burner stove and oven, however. I'm guessing most people are not going to roast a chicken, but rather will warm up some ready made food. My room was situated away from any street, but I could see 38th street out my window across a patio that was wide enough to remove any traffic noise. I liked having a window that could open and close, and for once, a New York hotel was not too warm at night. The staff could not print out a boarding pass for me, and was unsmiling and did not care whether I returned or not. I found the reception desk cold and not really interested in my needs. Perhaps they are not paid well or are untrained. The lobby was roomy and not too noisy when occupied.

Great hotel for the money
Sandi Nov 9, 2009
The only bad experience was that the first night we ended up with a free "upgrade" to a fabulous suite on the 12th floor. The ... bad thing is that is was a smoking room and smelled awful. We asked to change and they claimed to have no other rooms available, despite the fact that we had reserved a non-smoking room. The upshot was we got very little sleep because the smell was everywhere. We were able to switch to a non-smoking suite the next day. Lesson - check in is at 2 p.m. Don't try to check in early (we arrived at noon). They will store your bags but you will end up with whatever is left if you show up at 10 p.m. as we did.

I am a photographer. I was in the city for the fashion week. I stayed in this cozy hotel for five nights all by myself. I ... think the hotel was an apartment building before. The room has everything that a home should have! Even kitchen with cooking tools! Although I don't really cook here, but it makes feel nice. The carpet in the hallway is very clean. The location is relatively quiet but only 3 or 4 blocks away from park ave and 5th ave. I like this place very much. It's a great place to stay when travel in the big apple. One serious bad thing though, there's no wifi service in the room. Free wifi in the lobby but constantly gets disconnected. Please fix it!

I spent the weekend in NYC with two friends from college and since we're used to crashing on floors and couches on a regular ... basis, we weren't expecting much for the price we paid for the room. Let me just say that we were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We shared a junior suite and there was more than enough room for the three of us. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was FANTASTIC and the hotel is located on a very quiet street. The kitchenette was perfect for storing alcohol and leftovers. As many people have already said, the rooms are a little dated, but that was only a minor drawback that didn't really matter to us. Some people might be annoyed that Times Square is about 10-15 minutes away on foot, but, again, it didn't bother us and it's definitely doable if you don't have anyone in your group with mobility issues. If you're young, traveling with friends, looking for something cheap, don't need many amenities and don't plan on doing much in the room besides showering and sleeping, this is the perfect place for you.

Every kind of restaurant, cafe, and deli is within three or four blocks of the hotel. There's a fantastic grocery store around the corner and a nice wine/liquor shop about two blocks away, too. If, for whatever reason, none of the restaurants around the hotel appeal to you, check out Grand Central. There are a bunch of great places to eat in there, plus the building is incredible and it's worth a visit for that reason alone.

Awful
Jill Sep 6, 2009
The television, which we might have lived with, was substandard, and couldn't be seen from the bed, which we also might have ... lived with. There was no wifi (unheard of in this day and age) except in the lobby, which we reluctantly were living with. The water in the shower didn't stay the same temperature for more than 30 seconds, which we also might have lived with. But the blanket had stains [...]-distusting--and that we couldn't live with. We called the front desk, but because it was after 11:30 pm, the desk clerk said he couldn't bring us up a clean one but wanted us to come down. We refused. The next morning we spoke with the day supervisor who was very sweet and understood why we left. We did not have to pay for the stay, which was also nice. But I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, even if they upgrade and get wifi. Unsanitary conditions are beyond the pale.

This hotel was perfect. It was a decent distance from the busy-ness of Times Square, Herald Square, etc and every night when ... we returned, we appreciated the tree-lined streets and less bustle in the neighbourhood. There were many delicatessants and grocery stores nearby where we could pick up breakfast supplies for the morning and snacks. The kitchen in the suite was really a plus!!!! (I love my coffee first thing in the morning.) The suites were large and kept very clean. The price point was perfect! I would definitely return to this hotel on my return visit.
