Sheraton Sonoma County - Good Stuff
Mr. Tourist Nov 8, 2009
A good hotel for the business traveler and those looking for a central location for the region. Rooms - Clean & modern. But ... a few niggles: *Bay side view oversees a small dock, yes, but mainly overlooks a highway with highway noise. Not a romantic or relaxing view, I'm afraid. *Strange smell. Might have been new carpets or maybe an air freshener they are using - I didn't mind it so much, but my wife hated it. Odor was throughout hotel. Bar & Restaurant - We really liked it - nice place to unwind, cozy & modern. Breakfast was good. Service: Good and professional. No complaints at all. Location: Next to highway, and everything is a drive away. So not romantic, but very practical.

On our way from Sonoma back to Sf we wanted to spend another evening in the area without spending a lot of money again, so we ... picked the Sheraton. The staff was extremly friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and the beds wonderful: big, fresh, crisp with soft linen. Loved it! Great for a short stay!

Great Hotel, highly reccommended!!
Mrs.Tracey Oct 5, 2009
We were wine touring in Sonoma and decided to stay at the Sheraton in Petaluma, as it was MUCH more reasonable than staying ... in Sonoma itself. The hotel was great, excellent staff, everyone went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Rooms were very nice, great furnishings, very clean, all ammenities were provided. The hotels restaurant was awesome. We enjoyed the Artisan cheese plate as a picnic lunch at one of the local wineries. Our only complaint was the $5.00 charge for an internet connection and the $1.50 charge to use prepaid long distance phone cards....minor. We would definitely reccommend The Sheraton in Petaluma to anyone looking for a great stay for a really reasonable price!

Business Trip in Petaluma
Midwest Traveler Jul 14, 2009
The room was very nice. Everything was new or recently remodeled. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent. Would have ... been nice if the hotel had actual HD on their flat-panel tv, but most hotels that I stay at have this same issue. Would definitely put the hotel in the 4-star category.

Definitely try out the hotel restaurant for dinner.

Pros: The room, which overlooked the marina, was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely ... stay there again. Cons: There was a flat-panel TV in the room, but it didn't show anything in hi def as far as I could tell.

Prices at the hotel restaurant were pretty steep. Eat elsewhere, but definitely make the Sheraton Petaluma your home base.

An ideal springboard
Tired and Overworked Jul 7, 2009
We live less than an hour from Petaluma, a reason we've not stayed the night previously. This time, able to take Monday off ... after the contra dance on the first Sunday of the month, I found the Sheraton, whose impressive exterior on the Marina is very visible driving north from San Francisco on 101. The room was large, the restaurant very good with a fresh, delicious, smoothly prepared menu. The pool is in a protected courtyard, and heated enough for comfort, with a hot tub nearby. On the top floor there is a massage studio available by appointment 8:10 am to 8 pm most days. If we have another Monday off after a first Sunday, I'll add a massage. The connection in the room was as fast as the one we have at home. While I danced, my husband caught up on some work emails. He also went to the small comfortable bar off the lobby. For some reason, the Ladies Rest Room off the lobby is enormous. I speculate about large community events at or near the hotel at other times of year.

Short or long walk in wetlands by the hotel, nice bicycle rides on paved paths in City guide, longer rides from bikely.com also beautiful and flat enough for a pleasure biker over 60. Also, good self-guided walking tours of Victorian houses and 18th century commercial buildings, to name two. Very good eating.

"Beautiful Hotel"
one proud marine mom Jul 4, 2009
We visited several wineries in Napa and Sonoma County. Our favorite winery was Francis Ford Coppolla. The wine was very ... smooth. The food at the General Store in Napa was very good. In Petaluma we had a wonderful Italian dinner. at Paradiso Italiano Ristorante on Petaluma Blvd. For lunch one day we had pizza at Old Chicago Pizza in Petaluma. It was delicious. The pizza weighs 3 pounds before you even add a topping. Overall the trip was "GREAT".

We were welcomed with smiles and a friendly staff. I loved staying there! Plus, the location is perfect..less than an hour ... from the Pacific Coast, San Fran, and Napa Valley! My mom doesn't walk very well. They provided a wheelchair for us which I thought was wonderful!

Very good wine country hospitality
rileyinIreland May 4, 2009
This hotel was a perfect first night stay outside of San Fran before venturing deeper into wine country. Very attentive staff ... and exceptionally clean with a good location. It does not work as well location-wise if you are committing time to the Alexander Valley or points north---but it beats staying in the city.

Stay here rather than in San Fran when traveling to the wine country. It is very cost effective.
