Best Vacation for the money!
Justtraveling2009 Nov 26, 2009
The hotel is very clean and the staff is wonderful. At first you think the little glass they give you of booze is tiny but ... after awhile your trashed. The snorkling was awesome once you get past the main beach and swim out a bit. As always the excursions are expensive, but thats not the hotels fault. For a cheap get away I would give this resort 2 thumbs up.

We attended a family wedding and truly met the groom's family and the couples friends in quite a unique way.We intermingled ... with them all for six days which is not available in our traditional wedding set ups which allowed for MUCH fun!The wait staff we encountered were beyond pleasant and very welcoming. The management Mr. Hamilton and Ms. Duncanson were extremely pleasant. At our advanced age we appreciated the choices available to us. Your agents at this resort, [...], were wonderful and accomodating. They called us by name each time they saw us making our stay even better. They set up reservations for dining and tours for us with our interests in mind. Please note: when I (Mrs.) had a bizarre encouter with an malfunctioning elevator there was a nurse and a doctor and the young lady who was manager that night available in our room almost immediately . Although there was a charge for the Dr. and meds the resort refunded my husband's account. We were more than pleased with our stay. The only regret is I lost one of my eurowellness "shoes" down the elevator shaft...which I will get over.

Wonderful vacation experience
Pat Oct 24, 2009
this was our first trip to Jamaica and to an all inclusive. I don't believe we could have chosen a better location. The ... staff all treated us royally, so polite and attentive. The room was perfect, location right on the beach. Plenty of food and a great variety. Staff member sat down with us upon our arrival and spent close to an hour explaining how things worked and answering all our questions. If we ever have a chance to go back, I wouldn't hesitate a bit. Reading all the reviews before we went had me concerned about rude staff, uncomfortable beds, shortage of towels, quality of food. I think some people are just born to complain; there were 3 couples in our family group, and we were all very satisfied.

Fantastic value and location
Sly Oct 18, 2009
The staff were very friendly and polite. The food selection was great and if you didn't particularly like what was on the ... speciality restaurant menu or buffet, the grill always had cheeseburgers, jerk chicken, or hot dogs to satisify your appetite. The pools were nice and quiet--very fun water slide. The drinks were anything but watered down. Private beaches prevented vendors from hasseling you. Don't expect long walks along the beach (like in the states). However, the "bays" allow a nice warm swim or snorkling pleasure. The water is sooo blue and teal colored---breathtaking. This location also allows you to be close to the airport without the disturbence of the planes coming in or taking off. This resort is not a 5 star Hilton, however, it is clean--no bugs--wonderful staff--wonderful food--beautiful view---overall great value!!!

Fun place for families
Michelle Oct 7, 2009
We had a great time at Sunset. The pools, especially the water park were big hits with the kids and adults! Our room was ... clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and there were enough activities to keep everyone happy. While the food at the main restaurant was not spectacular, it was good enough and had many choices to please even the most finicky eater. Our family travels a lot to the caribbean, and while this resort was not the most luxurious that we have been to, it was clean, convenient, and had much to offer. We would stay here again. Good value for the $

I would suggest getting off of the resort at least once for dinner in Montego Bay. We took a taxi (10 minutes) to eat at a local restaurant, MoBay Proper and had a great meal and listened to music while sitting on the patio. The restaurant caters to locals, so the food and experiece is authentic if you get tired of the hotel scene. Three of us ate and drank for under $40!

Jamaica in September
Zephyr Sep 23, 2009
I enjoyed my recent visit to Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay. The trip was exactly what I needed and wanted when it came ... to relaxing and simply enjoying the beach (minus the few jellyfish). The hotel provides nightly entertainment which I thouhgt was great. One thing to remember is that if you are going to Jamaica in September, know that its the low season so the hotel will not be very packed...I found this to be a plus but hey, others might be disappointed. Overall, I had a blast and the staff was very nice. Also, if you stay at this hotel you really should make sure you go to the spa because it is absolutely wonderfull. After being out in the sun, a salt glo rub will help to exfoliate your skin followed by a massage...it is so worth it! Finally, you will seriously need to remind the bartenders to add more alcohol to your drink...I'm just saying.

Something For Everyone
Travelin' Solo Sep 7, 2009
Location: Loved the hotel location. Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay is approx. 15 minutes from the airport and sits on its ... own peninsula and not in the noisy flight path as some of other hotels in MoBay area. Singles: There are many singles traveling w/ children and families at this resort. Since this was my first vacation as a single woman, I was concerned if this was the right place for me to stay. But I met many great people everyday on the beach and at the bar and I was never alone unless I chose to be. Value: The all-inclusive option is the best way to vacation as I did not have to spend any extra money. I found the staff friendly and accomodating to all the guests. The staff do not expect any tips although I wanted to tip and did so on several occasions for excellent service. Food/ Meals: Were tasty and plentiful. Lots of fresh fish and local fruits and vegetables at the buffet. In between buffet hours, beach bar was open and the choices were very limited there. Hotel Maintenance: I saw some imperfections in my room such as a missing slat from shudders on a closet door. Also, a handle from the bathroom knob was missing. These things did not affect my comfort but were noticed. No defecits in maintenance noticed on the property. Hotel was well maintained and freshly painted throughout all public spaces. I would definetly return. Had a wonderful, activity and fun filled trip.
Traveler type: Single
Hint for booking tours/ sightseeing: There is a second activities/tour desk at the Sunset Tower "B" behind the casino, and they offer more day tour options and are usually less expensive than the tour operator located in the front lobby. They do not inform you that this other option is available to the guests.
