checkin went well once I found the rev.booth from parkinglot. Not marked well. Room was what I would expect for price. maybe ... a little better. Staff was friendly. resterants were good frist night but second night was not very good. I would stay there again for the price but eat elsewhere.

From the moment you walk in the door, you are going to be wasteing your time. They acted like they were running a Kennel, ... with out the Dogs. I might have enjoyed the hotel if they had given me the room i had expected, Two beds for one. instead they set us up in a room that smelt of paint and cheap carpet and cheap leather with one bed the windows wouldn't open so went to bed with a head ache. they did set us up in a nice room the next night, but charge me 50.oooo$ after i checked out mind you.

Great for the objective of a cheap stay. With a few fixings this would be an excellent stay. Security is visible. Nice and ... quiet Casino to come back to after a late evening. The sportsbook was good. The Craps table needed new felt. Overall I would stay there again. If you don't expect much you'll be surprised. It is a casual atmosphere. No shirt and ties required.

I was not in the hotel very much of the time, partly because my room key only worked once and when I tried to get to my room ... (which was over the parking garage) I had no luck. I had to then walk all the way back to the front desk, stand in line for 20 minutes only to get an attitude from the staff who has to reprogram new cards for me.

I went for a personal get away. My stay was excellent from check-in to check-out. All the staff treated me like they already ... knew me. The cleanliness was immaculate. I go to get breakfast from McDonald's (located at a short walk also) and when I return My room looks like I'm checking in for the first time every time.

Not only does the El Cortez have the best and friendly dealers, as well as the lowest entry bet levels with the best odds, but just a short walk to the next corner and you have the Duece, which is the bus that runs up and down THE STRIP and back, all night for $3 a trip.

Pleased with El Cortez in Vegas
Ken Sep 10, 2009
Stayed at the El Cortez in Downtown Las Vegas Sept 2-8 and was very pleased. I booked a non-smoking, king in the tower ... through Orbitz. I was in room 801 Likes: 1. The nightly rate averaged mid-forties per night (including the 12% tourist tax). 2. Clean/Big room. 3. The A/C cooled just right and was easy to adjust. 4. Two spacious and comfortable chairs, small couch, desk, large coffee table, great view of LV blvd. 5. Free in-room safe (4 digit code type) spacious enough to store your laptop, Ipod, cell phone, cash. 6. Plenty of electrical outlets for recharging and tech needs. 7. Good fun book with $5 off food, $5 match play blackjack, free cocktail, $1 10 spot keno for 50c. 8. Friendly front desk and maids. 9. Good TV with several channels. 10. Good security, had to use your pass key on both elevator and room door. 11. Internet access on main floor to print your return SW Air boarding pass (25c per minute, $1 minimum, 50c to print pass. Dislikes: 1. I wish the mattress were a bit firmer, but still adequate. 2. Shower head sprayed, but not with gusto of my home shower. El Cortez will be my new haunt. Am pleased too with Orbitz.

Forget Limo or Taxi at airport. The city bus leaves every 15 minutes from airport to Down Town Transportation Center (DTC). Take your luggage right on to the bus. They don't care. The bus travels past El Cortez on Ogden. Jump off. Fare is mere $1.75

On arrival i was told that the room i had booked for three people could not hold three people and i had to upgrade. When ... booking i rung the hotel and confirmed that cott could be moved into the room, but that was not the case on arrival, not to happy withthe being charged extra to upgrade. The room we got though was very nice and the stay overall was brilliant, i love staying on/near Fremont St.

The Burglar Aug 19, 2009
Great location and a friendly helpful staff. It's definitely old school, but charmingly so. The rate we got was incredible ... (less than 20 bucks a night). It's only a couple blocks from the Fremont Experience so it's a primo location. The only down side is that there aren't any elevators to their vintage rooms. This isn't the strip so it's not flashy, but if you just need an affordable and nice place to sleep the El Cortez is for you.

Booked the same same morning as my evening stay. The check in staff very friendly although my reservation was not in the ... system yet. Everything worked out fine. The hotel was a block of the main drag and although I prefer to use steps, there was only steps to my second floor room. If I had more than one piece of luggage it may have been inconvenient. There were elevators to access another set of rooms in the hotel.
