Wonderful first trip Pittsburgh
Laurie Nov 2, 2009
I surprised my husband on his birthday with a trip to Pittsburgh and Steelers tickets. We had never been to this beautiful ... city before. The Omni William Penn Hotel was amazing. So much history, beautiful lobby and rooms. We were able to walk EVERYWHERE. The stadium, museums, art galleries and symphony. It is all right there. They also have an easy to use public transport system. It saved us $48.00 by taking the bus back to the airport rather then a taxi! One thing we enjoyed most was the people. The hotel staff had a birthday cake waiting in our room for my husband. (I didn't even request it) Nice surprise! Great hotel, great location, great people.

Being downtown, the Omni is walking distance of many attractions (for us this is 3 miles or less). We recommend the Duck tour, departing from Station Square, which is on the other side of the Smithfield bridge. One of the inclines is there too. Once up on Grandview from that incline, walk a hilly mile to the Duquesne incline and the Georgetown Inn, a lower priced restaurant with a spectacular view.

Very small room but clean
KellyM Sep 10, 2009
We stayed at the Omni for one night before a Sunday Pirates game. It took us more than an hour to get our car to the door to ... drop our bags: there is no parking and the small one-way street in front of the hotel was clogged with cars, including taxis and the very slow valet parking staff. Parking at a nearby garage was $14 for overnight. Wireless access in the room is not free. In fact there were extra charges for everything. The room was so small. There was no way to sit at the desk, because it was pressed up against the bed. Definitely not suitable for business travel. The only good thing was that the room was clean. The Omni was Pittsburgh's first hotel to offer a bathroom in the room and that was small too.

Pirates win, we didn't make out so well
Adam the dentist Jul 19, 2009
The room we were given was extremely small. We booked a king size bedroom, but were given a room with one double bed. When ... we asked the front desk about the discrepancy, she explained that since we booked with Orbitz they couldn't guarantee which room we would be given. If I had known this, I would have made different arrangements. Definitely not worth the money. In addition, we were charged a fee at the bar and we were never even there. (this charge was later erased when we confronted the front desk)

Bad experience
The Eschenasy Jun 16, 2009
To start with, the gentleman that checked us in, gave us wrong directions on how to get to our evening event, and we ended up ... arriving late to our rehearsal dinner since our luggage was misplaced by the staff, and we had no clothes to change on, luggage arrived 90 min late. (No apologies received) I requested a shower cap and never arrived, we were supposed to receive a good welcome since we usually stay at Omni and are Gold members but no water, nor newspaper was received. Perhaps it was just us having not such a lucky day.

Could have been a very pleasant stay
ChapOhio Jun 11, 2009
The hotel is extremely nice. Good location - close to PNC Park, Heinz Field, and downtown restaurants and theaters. Room ... was clean and comfortable. However, our room was right next to the elevators and it sounded like a freight train was going by the hotel every 15 seconds (all night long). Ask for a room away from the elevators and with a view. All we could see was a brick wall and we looked directly into rooms in the next wing.

Great place to stay
tnthudson Apr 22, 2009
Visited this location for a concert at Mellon Arena, which is in close walking distance and a safe, well-lit hike...so the ... location was ideal. I didn't want to re-circle the very busy block to find the parking lot, so I paid over $20 for valet, self-parking would have been $7, I think. That's the only drawback I could come up with...besides the drink machine being totally sold out on our floor, and checkout took awhile (no bill was left at our door for self-check-out)...but these aren't big problems, IMO. The room we had (king bed) was beautiful: nice bed, flat-screen television, and not a cramped room by any means. We didn't get to enjoy the restaurants, but the facilities looked great, and they have a Starbucks in the lobby. Overall, a beautiful place, not cheap but I thought it was worth the money.

Our stay at the Omni William Penn was very pleasant and provided for a great getaway weekend. Qualified recommendation
Kirk May 28, 2007
The Omni William Penn is centrally located, clean, and comfortable. Parking is not quite convenient since you must use an ... underground garage situated across the street from the hotel. The elevator does not reach street level which requires using a narrow stairwell to get in and out of the parking lot. It's a strange setup. We liked very much that the hotel allows pets, and there are small parks across the street. Tourists should be aware that the famous Point State Park is closed. We visited May 2007. The archeological features are being removed to create a flat area for festivals.
