Paying for the view and the name
Too much good life, too little time Nov 29, 2009
Great location overlooking a bay on the Pacific. Easy driving to both LA and San Diego. Decent shopping in Laguna Beach. ... However, you really pay for the view and the Ritz Carlton name. Rack rate, plus resort fee, plus parking, plus taxes is a lot of coin for a 400 sq ft room for one night that has an obstructed view of a pool that no one uses. Our first room was dirty, food on the carpet, maids didn't show up with extra towels, etc. Moved to an ocean view, which was nicer, but still a fairly ordinary room. Sunday brunch was $450 for 5 of us. But it was good, and the view from the dining room makes it almost worth it. The staff was very accomodating, what you would expect from a five star hotel.
