"Deluxe" location for "moderate" price
Everest Challenge Survivor Sep 28, 2009
We stayed here for one night before checking into our Disney hotel (Beach Club) the following morning. After arriving in ... Orlando in the evening and not wanting to spend $300+ for an additional night at Beach Club, we chose the Swan because of its location and price point (~$140). The hotel definitely caters to the convention crowd and doesn't have the "Disney magic". That being said, the rooms were reasonably clean, the staff was friendly, and you absolutely can't beat the location. It's a short ten minute walk in either direction to the Disney Studios and EPCOT Center. In addition, the immediate area is home to another four resorts, all with premier restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. In short, I would never stay here to get my Disney "fix", but the hotel is decent and the location can't be beat for that price.

Enjoyed a return trip to the Swan, excellent location to walk over to Epcot or take the boat, no hassles driving, riding ... bus. Also close to Boardwalk and the new Cat Cora restaurant- great food and service. Friendly staff, prompt room service, great views of the fireworks from the window. Would definitely recommend and will be returning once again. Good play area on grounds for little ones, fun activities for the kids as well.

We saw all the sights. We missed our grandkids but after the 2nd day we realized we were able to see more of the adult stuff ... without the grandchildren. We got tired but we did not have to go back to our room just to enjoy the rest of the day. We saw things at our pace. The only thing I did not like is taking the boat ride to Epcot and Disney Hollywood. After our trip to Epcot we decided to drive to Disney Hollywood. Too many stops on the boat ride.

Good and Bad
Park Hopper Aug 15, 2009
This hotel is named The WALT DISNEY WORLD Swan, so we thought we'd have shuttle to and from the airport. All WDW hotels have ... this don't they? NO--Only those owned by WDW. This hotel has the WDW name--but, is not owned by Disney so you have to pay for shuttle service($80 one way)This is something that they should tell you up front. No one told us about this, until the day before we left. I called and asked if we would need to call them to come to the airport or if they come routinely. And it's a shared shuttle so they made several stops which took longer, which meant we had to leave 3 hours earlier than our flight. Glad our flight left at 12:30. On vacation you don't want to do anything early. When we ck'd in we were told there's a mandatory $10/day charge for internet, phone,& etc. They did agree to drop this fee since we weren't told of it beforehand. Also since this is an upscale hotel, we were surprised when we were awakened by a room full of kids only next door. Laughing and talking very loudly at 2 & 3 in the am. We complained and security came. This happened 2 nights. The security guard coouldn't get them to open the door the 2nd night. We expected better from an upscale, high $$ hotel such as this. This shouldn't have happened 2 nights in a row. They did ask if we wanted to move to a new room. Why should we be inconvenienced? The day we left something was wrong with the hot water. We turned the knob all the way to hot and still the water was barely warm.

Sometimes it rains every afternoon in FL. The week we were there it rained 2 days. The first day was a short summer shower. The 2nd day there was a thunder storm w/a good, long, pourig rain (at least 1 1/2 hr.) We stood under a small shelter and the rain blew in and soaked us. If I could do it again, I'd go buy WDW Rain Panchos as soon as I saw the clouds gathering. Almost all the stores have them and the price is not too bad. They are good quality and can be used more than once.

Disney Fan Aug 13, 2009
If you're an EPCOT or Hollywood Studios fan, the Swan is in an incredibly convenient location. The boat between the two ... parks and the EPCOT hotels (Swan/Dolphin, Yacht & Beach and Boardwalk) runs every few minutes. There is also a walkway between the Swan and the theme parks...EPCOT is a 10-15 minute walk and Hollywood Studios is a 20 minute walk. The Swan was very clean and not noisy at all. While it is on Disney property, the Swan is not owned by Disney, so you can't use Magical Express or charge theme park purchases to the room. However, Extra Magic Hours do apply and are a fantastic benefit!

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff right away. Although they charge $16 to valet your car. We asked for an ... upgrade when checking in and they had no problem with it. Bigger, better room for the same price. It couldn't hurt to ask. The hotel is located just a short walk from the Boardwalk which was great. Overall, a great place to stay without paying the high prices.

Great service nice people. Great location. Only drawback was service at the Splash Terrace Bar in the evening. They ... ignored us completely. It was like we were ghosts and couldn't be seen. We were well dressed and looked like we had money even. Don't waste your time there. The management is terrible. Otherwise, the Swan is ideal.

Very Good - High Volume Hotel
American Idiot Jul 24, 2009
Arrived Jul 09, in a 6pm thunderstorm, front desk was non-plussed and friendly. Room was ready and clean. Each floor has ~80 ... rooms so try to avoid rooms near busy elevator banks. Typical rectangle room w/ 37" LCD w/ ~30 channels + advert channels, Coffemaker w/ Starbucks packs in room, decent towels, very comformtable pillow soft beds. In-room internet is VERY slow (claim 300kbps) and costs $14/24 hr. If you pay $19 you supposedly get faster svc (didn't try). If you are going to need internet every day, buy the 'Resort Services Pack' at check-in and for $12/day you get slow internet, health club daily, and 2 free bottles of Disney water in your room. We did not have any problems w/ maid service and did not order room service. Did not get the food package. Food is expensive, with a relatively limited variety...but decent quality and not Airport Restaraunt expensive. Dolphin Hotel is 100 m away via covered walkway and appears to be slightly larger hotel of same good quality. Dolphin has Laundrymat, Video Arcade & "Dolphin Club for Kids (parents night out service). Each hotel has a very good gym (8+ treadmills, 15+ weight machines, squat rack, 5-> 50 lb dbells) and large (30m x 12m) rectangular pool w/ lap lanes. Both hotels also share a larger Lagoon-style pool w/ rock waterfall & one curved waterslide for the kiddos. Big pool is a 100m walk. All pools have free towels and (not free) bar service. The Parks: It is vey hot in July (36-38 C)and the lines for most attractions were 30-60 min. There are scoreboards before you enter the line, estimating your wait time. Most lines are reasonably shaded...but can still be hot. I have never seen so many accomodations for handicapped... and hundreds of electric scooter-chairs everywhere. You can buy "Fast Pass" tickets to cut your waite time on any attaction to less than ~10min. We didn't but, often wish we had.

Pleasant Stay, Convenient to Disney
Disney Traveler Jul 24, 2009
Stayed here for 5 nights. The stay was restful with the heavenly bed. While the room was relatively small, was plenty big ... for the 3 of us sharing the room. Transportation to Disney was very convenient, preventing me from having to rent a car. My only recommendation is to bring your own snacks and refreshments. The Swan Hotel does not have a store with snacks. You have to go to the Dolphin hotel, which while not far away is not as convenient as I expect from a hotel. The only thing provided on a floor was ice. However, the rooms did have a refrigerator.
