The stay was wonderful!!They have an excellent staff of people running this Hotel.. Clean rooms and very friendly and helpful ... maids and valet parking attendants. This is our 4 time in Hawaii and have stayed at other Hotels and we enjoyed this one the most... I think the parking is too high priced you get overcharged to have to pay 28.13 a night to park your car... I feel like they should change that...You pay more to park then to rent your car... You need a car on the Island to go see all the sights... Many places are wonderful to see the beauty of Hawaii by car... East end beaches are quite and beautiful... Waikki beach is too many people!!!!!!!Very over populated...111 Head out and see the sights of Hawaii... Alamo rental car is the best rental car around... They take excellent care of you and is fast for pickup and delivery... Nice cars they rent too....

affordable hotel
Allan Jan 30, 2010
After reading other people reviews we were a little bit nervous about the hotel. The hotel is not too bad if you travel on a ... budget but if you afford to spend more we would recommend Moana Surfrider or Halekulani. The hotel is located at the end of the strip(10 min walk from main restaurants and International Market Place shops)and only 5 minutes away from Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. Rooms are cleaned every day, elevators work just fine it may be a little bit of a wait in the morning. The pool is nice but small you can use it mostly in the afternoon when it's sunny. Internet is not included in the room price but you can get it for free at the pool or in the lobby for 0.20 Cents. Tikki bar at the hotel has an affordable lunch menu, for breakfast and dinner we found better places (Lulu's,Duke's,Jimmy Buffet)You don't need a car,to get around Waikiki use Pink line trolleys ($2 and they stop in front of the hotel every 15 minutes ) or The Bus -local transportation.

Perfect for the honeymoon
Honeymooner Jan 21, 2010
We loved it! The hotel is right across the street from Waikiki beach so we were able to walk down and go swimming very ... easily. We had a "Breakfast on the Beach" buffet. They gave us souvenir insulated lunch bags that we got to pack full of muffins, cereal, yogurt, croissants, juice, coffee, etc while we listened to live Hawaiian music. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They helped us change to a King sized bed instead of 2 doubles. The cleaning crew were friendly. We needed an ironing board and they were quick to provide it. The "partial ocean view" was great. We took many pictures of Waikiki beach from our balcony. We liked that the elevators to the rooms required the hotel key card so it was exclusive access. We liked the restaurants in the hotel too! What a great experience!

Nana B. Jan 18, 2010
When we arrived the desk clerk was very gracious. When we got to our room, we were very surprised with the lack of space and ... amentities. It was more like a basic motel room. The view was great from the balcony. The air conditioner didn't work well. The advertisment and list from the hotel was completely deceiving. The breakfast was only a continental set up. There was not much to choose from, no menu. The hotel restaurants were not that good. We wish we would have done more investigation before booking. If you are looking for something more in the hotel catagory look at the Sheraton, Hyatt, etc.

The hotel was nice for the price that was paid. We weren't in the rooms very often so it suited our needs. One room did ... have an air conditioner that was out, but it was fixed right away. Service was good and helpful. The one thing that needs to be stated more clearly was the "breakfast on the beach" was not included in our package deal. Would stay at the Aston again.

the breakfast is not complimentary as advertised. the hotel is in front of the beach but doesnt have a beach. you have to ... cross the street to get to the public beach. i requested the hotel to fix the slow draining shower, the maintenance guy changed the plug but it was still slow. i requested for an extra bottle of shower gel so i can use it after going to another beach, the staff couldnt understand it so i had to go down to the housekeeping department and was given shampoo because they were out of the shower gel. i had to pay 20 cents a minute and 35 cents per page to print by boarding pass. i couldnt use my computer to print. on a positive note, i was given a hot water pot after requesting for hot water. there is free internet access IN THE LOBBY ONLY. great elevator security: schindler elevator? only guests with hotel key can use the elevator.

Forkman Dec 30, 2009
The hotel started off poorly for us, as we had a poorly trained, unfriendly employee checking us in. The rooms were tiny, and ... we ended up upgrading our room, a must to tolerate this hotel. While the breakfasts were a great benefit to a family, they did not offset the negatives, which included: -Incredibly expensive parking -A nickel and dime approach to fees. I never felt the staff cared if we enjoyed our stay, they just wanted to add charges to the bill -The staff was either very good, or awful. Mainly indifferent. -The pool hours were incredibly short, closed at 5 P.M. This hotel is fairly pricey, but does not deliver the service to warrant the high prices. I would nor recommend this hotel

The location is very good, but that is about all this hotel has going for it. I don't know if it was becasue I was a single ... guy, [...] or something else, but they gave me a room on a very low floor right across from the noisy ice machine. If you like live music at breakfast, you might like it here. Personally, I like to sleep in but that was next to impossible with the live music blaring from 7:00am to 9:00am. I was not a big fan of the elevator "security features" which seemed overkill and made getting an elevator a very long wait. The retro red decor did start getting on my nerves after a couple of days. The rooms are small and they nickel and dime you for everything. You have to pay to use the in room safe. You have to pay to use internet. Had I known prior I would have stayed at a nicer, more expensive hotel where such things are complimentary. There is no in room writing table either. They don't even give you towels for the pool.I definitely will not stay here again. There are plenty of other hotels that are located just as well.
