My friends and I wanted to get away for the weekend and were thinking winter-cabin-cozy. It was pretty last minute and we had ... a small budget. The deal we got on the Lake Lawn Resort was fabulous: we were upgraded to a nicer room at no additional cost, the resort was huge and gorgeous, the rooms were cozy and clean, and the location was great! Our bathroom was beautiful and huge!! There were plenty of options for food and entertainment, although we mostly stayed in our room (with a stylish and somewhat disappointing fake fireplace ;). Although we didn't use the pool or workout facilities, they looked very nice and the building was very well-kept (I think it's new). I would definitely go back in any season.

The room service seemed pretty nice but on the expensive side. On the main road there was a liquor store and grocery store where we could get anything we wanted and put it in the spacious mini-fridge in our room to save money.

Nice, but not where they think they are
Last-minute tourist Oct 14, 2009
I have come to Lake Lawn numerous times for their Sunday brunch, but this was the first time I stayed here. I was to stress ... that my overall experience was very nice. But here's a list of things they could've done better. 1)Room service; I had to call room service again after an hour for our pizza order, and when it finally arrived, the crust was underdone and there was too much cheese on the top. It was disgusting. 2) It took four passes in their Frontier Restaurant before staff finally noticed some litter on the ground and picked them up. 3) Frontier Restaurant bar allows smoking, & it intruded on our dining experience; we had to ask to be moved. 4) No speedy check out (there was no line, though). 5) They could do a better job in the indoor pool area; too many discarded towels, litter, and little pools of sitting water. 6) Their spa design could be better. Locker room is too far in back; guests have to walk through most of the spa to reach it, and frankly, for guests already there, the sight of fully dressed guests intrudes into the "separate from the real world" thing spas usually have going. 7) In the bar, no napkin came with our food. 8) There was a floater in the toilet when we checked in. 9)I noticed an unusual amount of younger staff, which made me wonder if they purged older, more experienced staff in an effort to control costs. Too many of the little mistakes I noticed would've been avoided with an experienced staff. They were friendly, though. Finally, the map they hand you of the resort was a poorly photo-copied paper that was very difficult to read (poor contrast).

Always a good stay
Bay Lovin' Jeanne Oct 13, 2009
Lake Lawn Resort has undergone huge upgrades over the past several years. While there still is much to renovate, the main ... lodge is a wonderful place to stay. Large rooms, patio or balcony with rockers and a lake view (a must!), flat screen TV (although no HBO), and covered walkways to access the majority of the complex make this resort a keeper. I've been staying there for decades and have watched the place grow and refresh. Sunday brunch in the Frontier Room Restaurant is large and worth the price -- make sure you have a reservation! Next time, we plan to try the Saturday night prime rib buffet. If it's anything like a competitor's used to be, it'll be dynamite. Lake Lawn Resort is a great place to stay whether you want a relaxing vacation or to take in the excitement of the Lake Geneva area, with friends or with family, with or without golf.

For shopping and dining at national stores and restaurants, go Delavan. For funky or artistic stores and independent restaurants, go Lake Geneva. For quiet, out-of-the-way specialty shops, go Williams Bay. And for a fabulous breakfast, try Daddy Maxwell's Arctic Circle in the Bay ... be prepared to wait on weekend mornings, but you'll be glad you did (especially for the blueberry French batter pancakes and homemade corned beef hash)!

We golfed at Geneva National and stayed at the Lake Lawn Lodge. Great little getaway. The lodge is newly decorated and it is ... like staying at a little cozy cabin. The bar was a really fun place to watch football. We will stay there again next time we are in that area.

Fun family getaway
Illinois fan Sep 27, 2009
We found the Delavan location easy to find. We arrived ahead of check-in at 4:00 but found lots to do to keep us busy right ... at the hotel. We decided to rent a pontoon boat which our family loved and especially enjoyed the sight-seeing. We even spotted a place where we had dinner later but could have tried the onsite resturant. When we checked back to get our room which was a double bed, they told us they took the liberty of upgrading us to a "loft double-queen room". The kids loved the bunk beds located in the loft with their own beautiful 1/2 bath, tv with game chairs, closet, and dresser. We took the double-queen below that had a jacuzzi full bath w granite counter, microwave, mini-fridge, mini-bar, huge flat-panel TV, balcony with rocking chairs. The decor was very tastful, backwoods type with lots of lighting options. The room was "perfect" with a view of the lake. They had alot of family fun you could choose from and we decided after our dinner adventure at "The Village supper club" we'd go swimming in the indoor pool. The kids loved the very large pool and we loved the large whirlpool. We went to a bon-fire later by the lake where you could roast marshmallows with sticks provided. The staff were great. Everything was clean. It was a great getaway for our family after only a short 2hr drive from our home. We'd definitely stay here again and golf next time.

Not worth the money
Big Daddy Aug 4, 2009
The best thing I could say about our trip to Lake Lawn Lodge is that we only stayed two nights. The rooms were dark, dirty, ... and full of bugs. The outside pool was closed because some yahoo threw a beer bottle into to it. We were advised not to swim in the lake because of pollution. All in all it was a nightmare for $235.00 a night. The only bright spot was the staff, who could not have been more pleasant.

The room was like walking into the 60's. Musty smell, yellow toilette and uncomfortable beds. I booked the hotel through orbitz. The pictures looked nice. When I checked in I was put into the old part(Woodlawn)of the ... hotel which was dirty and had a strange odor. The screen was torn and let every kind of bug into the room, but the room needed air. The bathroom was horrible! It would of been nice if I was told this upon check in. The next day I upgraded to the new part of the hotel which is really nice. It is well worth the $20 a day.
