Fantastic place to relax

This was my second time in South Beach, and this hotel was by far better than the one I stayed at last time. Super service. ... Beautiful property. Great location. Quiet and restful yet accessible to all the nightlife a few blocks up on Ocean Drive. Two blocks away from bus to Lincoln Road. Hotel has everything. Got home and already am planning my next trip to SB and to this Marriott.

Anniversary in Miami

We have been coming to this hotel for the past 6 years. The Marriott has made significant upgrades to the outdoor pool and ... lounge area--they are fantastic. There are now two pools: salt water and chlorine, and the expanded lounge area gives a "boutique resort" feel to the hotel. The location is ideal for beachgoers: the ocean is only a few steps away, and you are close to the shopping and restaurants of South Beach without the noise.

Towel service is free for both the Beach and the Pool. Make sure you go early to get towels, as they go quick on the weekends. Umbrella rental on the beach is $10 for all day use--meaning you can stay and come back as much as you please (very convenient).

The hotel was nice, on the beach, but two things. Despite having a reseravation for 4 we were given a room with a king bed ... with a rollaway beds that were VERY uncomfortable. You more or less could be sleep on the floor with springs stabbing your back. Second thing was you had to pay for parking (crazy price that is not advertised beforehand), if you wanted to use the umbrella/chair on the beach there was a charge for that too. It is just sad that the hotel price is fairly high so small things like umbrellas and chairs on the beach should be provided for, considering the umbrellas bear the hotel's name.

Great Location and clean!

The location is great! Walking distance to great restaurants.We even walked to the clubs! Its right behind the beach.The ... staff will take care of you especially if you tip them good.We took a taxi which was a flat rate to the hotel and never rode in a taxi until it was time to return to the airport.It was very clean too!

If you want to eat in restaurants on a budget,check out the restaurants specials as many of them have even four dollar breakfasts and lunch deals.As you walk past them you can see the advertisements! We bought a case of water at CVS and kept it in the minifridge to save money on buying bottled water since it was soooo hot!

There were three of us and we reserved a room with two double beds - but apparently they only had King beds left, and they ... were sold out for the whole weekend. The only thing they did to help was offer us a rollaway bed "for free". I was pretty annoyed. Then they gave us the handicapped room, which meant that the shower was all but useless. After this we complained more, and they merely transferred us to another king room with (again) the "free" rollaway bed. Also: they are really different from other Marriotts in terms of how they charged for every little thing. They charge for internet (which is common), but they ALSO charge for any chair on the beach (each one separately), as well as the umbrellas. If that isn't enough, like other hotels that also charge for such items, they don't mark your seat/umbrellas as "taken" for the day once you've paid for it. This means that if you leave your post for any reason (like going to lunch for example) and you don't leave somebody there to guard your chairs and umbrella, they might give it to somebody else b/c its now "empty"!! Ridiculous. The only good thing for us was that it was away from the noise from the main part of Ocean Drive, so it wasn't full of college kids and a constant party all the time like other hotels on the beach. But the South part of Ocean drive was still walkable from the hotel, or a short cab ride.

Hotel was empty, off season, midweek, and they still gave us a room with no view and no balcony. Every other big hotel that ... I've been to recently has upgraded. Pricey. Will stay somewhere else next time, tons of competition.

South Beach Getaway

Everything went smooth. I noted on my reservation to make sure I have a double bed because my young adult daughter and her ... friend also came. The Hotel did not have any more rooms with double beds but they did give me an Ocean front room with a king size bed and a roll away bed which made up for the inconvenience. The room was comfortable and clean. The pools were wonderful. The location is great. I couldn't ask for a better vacation.

If you intend to visit Aventura Mall, take the bus on15/16 street between Collins and Washington Ave. 15 minutes walk from the Mariottthat saves you $90 compared with a taxi for 2 people.

Perfect for a getaway

I found this hotel perfect for my weekend getaway. It was very conveniently located in South Beach minutes, a very short walk ... from the action, the restaurants, the shopping that one was looking for, but a tad to the side of the all night noise that can ruin the need to rest. The beach, bar and restaurant service were all what I was looking for, convenient, easy and pleasant. The staff was always accomodating, from front desk to conceirge to housekeeping. It's not the most luxurious location on the beach, but honestly for the price, it fit the bill perfectly.
