Very ordinary and need of major makeover
BB Jan 7, 2010
It looks modern and more attractive in the photos..in 'person', it was seedy looking, but relatively safe and clean. The ... location is good if you are attending the Rose Parade but otherwise, far from the centre of Pasadena/Old Town and not near any nice restaurants or 'sights' to see. The pool is in the middle of a parking lot and not attractive, the breakfast area is a tiny/stand up space in the very 'tiny' lobby. [...] We wouldn't stay there again.

Clean room with all the conveniences (fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, hair dryer, etc), helpful staff, pretty good location ... for access to Caltech and to Pasadena City College, and at an excellent price. Some people, likely fellow guests, were a bit rowdy outside my room - if I were to stay there again I'd probably ask for an upstairs room so it would be less likely loud kids would hang around in the parking lot outside my door. Noisy guests may not be typical - I was in town for one night a few days after the Rose Bowl parade and football game and a few days before the BCS championship also at the Rose Bowl, right after the holidays, which may have attracted a younger and rowdier type of customer.

What was expected
MarkMan Jan 2, 2010
This is a basic low end hotel (more of a motel).... Same as a motel 6 except with a small fridge and microwave. Room was ... comfortable, staff was nice, no major issues or concerns.... King size room regular charge is $55 bucks, and at that rate would be about right.... the issue for us was that we stayed New Years Eve, and New Years Day (2 nights), and they, as expected, jacked up the cost to $210 bucks a night (with taxes and fees $475 dollars for 2 nights).....not very nice for that cost, but would be fine at $55.

The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is not a luxury hotel it is a basic ... place to spend the night at an affordable price. [...] the hotel room was fairly decent. There are only a few reasons why I would not stay here again unless I had to. The AC ... did not have an option to continously run and in a small room, it was very noisy. The walls are thin and the sink water was so weak I had to use the bathtub for a stronger flow of water. Other than that, the rooms are cheap and the rooms are clean. The area is not too bad. Plenty of food, shopping, and college students.

If you want a cheap place to stay, the Travelodge is that. Nothing fancy or luxurious, but completely adequate for the ... economically minded. Over my 4 night stay, I did see 2 tiny cockroaches in the bathroom. No clue if it was a one off occurrence or indicative of a more systemic problem. I guess come at your own risk. ;)

Here for a conference. Convenient location. Rooms were clean, but small (very reasonable). Continental breakfast was juice, ... coffee, tea or hot chocolate, cold cereal (cornflakes or raisin bran) and some prepackaged muffins and rolls. Also some fruit (bananas and apples) Swimming pool was clean but very small. Staff was pleasant and helpful when asked.

No problems with the hotel, and it was the least expensive in an overpriced area, it was just tired.I was there for a short ... business trip and spent no time in the room so it was a very good deal for the trip. On the street of the Rose parade, so that might be a highpoint for some folks, especially from out of state.
