the hotel was nice, the rooms were spacious and clean, beds were very comfortable, but with one or two exceptions the staff ... wasn't nice, they were not friendly, it even seemed as if they were bothered by guests. Honestly that is the only bad thing we have to say about the hotel, the staff sucked, besides that it was pretty, good locations, nice rooms, nice bar, overall we were pretty pleased.

Great First Visit
Kathleen Sep 3, 2009
My husband and I went for my upcoming birthday. The hotel was wonderful. The people were wonderful. Very professional, yet ... good sense of humor. They answered all our questions, helped w/ directions on how to get to the public transportation, which was close by, etc. We did not eat there as I wanted the downtown deli foods. There was some noise, but we were near the WTC site. It didn't bother me at all. My thought is if you are in the city, you're going to hear noise of some kind.

The location suited us perfectly. It was very easy to get to from the Holland Tunnel. We walked to Bobby Van's Steak House ... and strolled the Financial District. The room was clean, updated, and comfortable. Take advantage of the hotel's breakfast at Roy's.

Steve Aug 27, 2009
The hotel itself was great. Nice sports bar, clean Starbucks. Room had great view and the bed was superb. Two complaints: ... 1. The hotel refused to give me the movie tickets described in my Orbitz reservation (Land of the Lost promotion). 2. Check-in was a bit of an issue. The room was not ready at 4 pm, and we weren't allowed to head to our room until almost 4:30 pm. All in all, a pleasant hotel experience.

We decided to take our trip on a last minute whim. We spent a total of 4 nights at this location and we found it very ... accessible to most of the sights we wanted to see. For those longer trips uptown we found the subway locations very convenient. We enjoyed our stay in NYC.

The hotel was great. Service was wonderful. Because they did not have a room with two double beds available, they gave us an ... upgrade to a junior suite. We travelled with two teenagers, and the room was great for us. Our remote stopped working, and the staff brought a replacement within 5 Minutes. The hotel is conveniently located just two corners from the Rector street Metro line. There are several great delis on the way to the metro. The #1 subway train quickly takes you uptown to Times Square, China Town, etc. The hotel staff were ready to provide guest with all needed information and service - down to the umbrellas for us. Also, the beds are very comfortable and the linens are wonderful. The hotel is only two blocks from the Harbor Walk, which is great for strolling through battery park.

THE Place to Stay in NYC
Newfound NYC Lover Jul 19, 2009
This place is only really one block from Ground Zero. It is within walking distance of nearly everything in lower Manhattan. ... I had trouble getting online at first, but I figured it out. My room was amazing and the staff very helpful and friendly. Room service food was delicious, expensive of course, but most room service is. My view on the 14th floor was great. No complaints here. I will be telling everyone that this is the place to stay when in NYC. The price also was unbelievable!

Be careful with Cheap Tickets. They didn't do my reservation properly - the hotel didn't have it. They patiently called ... Cheap Tickets and resolved it, but it took 30 minutes. Kudos to the staff, boos to Cheap Tickets. All else good, except the main hotel restaurant - Roy's - is not open. Concierge could be more helpful.

Bryant's Review II
kmb5482 Apr 26, 2009
This is the second time we have stayed at the Marriott in the Financial District. We absolutely LOVE it!!! The lobby is ... gorgeous, and the staff is always there to greet you. When we arrived, there were candles lit all throughout the lobby. It was very beautiful. The rooms are just like all Marriott rooms. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms provide Bath & Body products, the LCD tv is excellent, the fridge is convenient, and the for a Manhattan hotel, the room is spacious. Even though you have to pay for internet, I was able to pick up free wireless internet. The elevators are no longer slow. They also have a Starbucks and a couple of restaurants, but if you walk a block to Rector Street, there is a pizza place, gyro place, deli, and convenience store. Another block away is a TGIFridays. The WTC Site is a block away, as well as Battery Park for the Statue of Liberty. Wall Street is a few blocks away. I was impressed to see that one of the front desk workers could speak French. The concierge was able to give us specific directions to our show, along with a small map. When you check-in, they also give you a very nicely detailed map of Manhattan. The number one reason why we keep picking the Downtown Marriott is because of its easy access to the subway and the Path. Two blocks away, there are two subway stops on Rector Street, which will take you anywhere you want to go in Manhattan. The Path is about three blocks away at the WTC stop. We take it to Newark Penn Station, and then we go to Newark airport, via the NJ Transit. Therefore, we can tote our luggage to and from the airport, straight to the Marriott, for about $10, which sure beats an $80 taxi ride from the airport! The hotel also held our luggage for us when we checked out since our flight was later that day. We will continue to stay at the Downtown Marriott every trip we take to Manhattan.

The hotel location is perfect if you want to explore NY. It is located in lower Manhattan, so somewhere between Manhattan and Brooklyn. To get to the Times square it takes ~30 minutes on subway, at the same time other attractions like Statue of Liberty, Wall street (10 minutes to walk) are around you.
