Really a Nice Surprise
Cardinal Queen Nov 2, 2009
The Sea Breeze Inn and Cottages was really a nice surprise. It's located very close to everything we wanted to see but was ... very private in a neighborhood setting. The grounds were very nicely kept-up and the rooms that we rented were both clean and attractive. The rates were also better then we could find anywhere else in town. If you have children I would recommend the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Children's museum located in downtown Monterey.

We were pleasantly surprised with this place, the rooms were cute and we were excited that there was a hot tub as well as the ... pool. We discovered in the morning that the walls were a bit thin since we could hear the children in the adjacent room as well as the tv. (Hope they didn't hear us the night before LOL) Overall, we really liked this place and would stay here again.

Great room for the money

I really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of this Inn. The staff was very friendly when we checked in and out. The breakfast was ... just right to grab and go in the morning, basically just muffins and coffee and orange juice. The room was a one Queen room and just the right size for a couple. I would stay there again.

Great location, price, and room
Al Aug 24, 2009
Great location is a short walk to several small beaches and rocky shores, the Pacific Grove golf course, and the Monarch ... Butterfly Reserve. In almost a residential area. but we still saw deer, raccoons, seals and sae otters each day within walking distance from the lodge. The room was no frills but nice. Two queens and still plenty of room to move around. My only gripe would be that the shower was adequate but needed an overhaul. The grounds were quiet, clean and nice. Pool, hot tub, and fire ring were all extras that we enjoyed. Would recommend this place and hope to return soon.

Convenient, but not a place to rest
Quality Reviews Aug 3, 2009
Good Points: Although the pictures look better than reality, it wasn't a bad looking place. Lots of trees and a fire pit was ... a nice touch in center of motel area. Very Clean. Bad Points: This hotel is more or less a Motel 6 that had crown molding. Old shower fixtures and tile, no soap holder (soap had to be put on floor). Did not get sleep as next door neighbors were laughing, talking, could hear them walking all around, and later snoring. Asked for different room the next night, and although very nice girl at the front who moved us, upstairs was only a little better as far as cosmetics and bathroom. Both had THIN walls - we could hear people next door upstairs walk around and talk as well. Synopsis: For $178 a night - will never stay here again. They need to invest in insulation, better pillows, soap holders, in-room coffee makers or at least some GOOD LOCAL coffee.

Room and hot tub/pool issues
The Scotsman Aug 1, 2009
When I checked into my hotel room, the toilet and sink stopper were not working. Hotel maintenance staff fixed it two hours ... later. The hotel is divided by a non-lighted, two-lane, busy, major avenue with no nearby crosswalk. If you are staying on the east side of the street, you have to dodge traffic to use the hotel's hot tub and swimming pool on the west side. This is most dangerous at night. I became lost driving to the hotel, as Lighthouse Avenue is broken by another street and re-emerges many blocks later. When I called the hotel front desk from my cell phone, the on-duty clerk could not give me sufficient dirrections to find the hotel. I found the hotel only by luck. The small hotel room was not worth the price.

Sea Breeze Inn and Cottages
GolfDuo Jul 31, 2009
The rooms were nicely appointed but small. Our window view was of a fence next to a street so we kept our drapes drawn and ... the lighting was very dim. Our TV had problems so after the first night they switched us to another room. Comfortable beds!Unfortunately the bottom sheet was too short. Coffee and muffins and juice were served every morning at 8AM in the lobby (too late for golfers). Good location!

6-10 blocks into town are very good Thai, American, Italian and Middle Eastern restaurants, as well as several coffee shops. There is a Chinese restaurant next door to the Sea Breeze which, unfortunately for us, had very few vegetarian options, but which smelled quite wonderful. There is also a small farmers' market on Mondays - great fruits and vegetables!

Nay Nay Jul 5, 2009
This Inn was a nice surprise for the price. It's in a quiet area and close to everything but not close enough to be bothered ... with the tourist traffic. Just down the street there is a beautiful street with shops and restaurants. We found this wonderful Thai restaurant that has excellent food and amazing service. The only problem we had was that we couldn't get the A/C to switch on. I think they don't need it in the area for the most part but the room did get a little stuffy. We opened the windows though and it we were fine. This is an Inn that we will definitely stay at again when we travel to the area.

Travel planner Jul 3, 2009
Everything was great for our family. Friendly staff, clean rooms, restful location, easy access to ocean and other places of ... interest. One of the things that I would change is that we could hear our neighbors talking at normal voice levels, which had me constantly trying to keep our small children quiet. I would recommend it for couples or single people. Also, we got a deal for this room. I wouldn't pay full price for it.

The location was great for our Monterey and Big Sur excursions, and the price was right for our budget. We were looking ... forward to a dip in the pool, but it was across a wide street--crossing it wrapped in a towel post-swim wasn't appealing. The room, bathroom and tv were small,no view to speak of, the bed wasn't top-notch, and the complimentary breakfast consisted of little more than coffee and bagels, but the staff was pleasant and we are happy with the price we paid. Great deal if you have simple needs.

--SIngle Traveler, Maine May 12, 2009
The hotel is about two miles from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. If you're going, park along Oceanview Blvd. next to the walking path, just past the outlet shops northwest of the aquarium (no time limit). You'll find a space within ten-minute's easy walk.
