Getaway in Dolphin, Disney
Nonna Nov 30, 2009
All over it was not bad. We enjoyed water taxi to the park: close and comfy. The Hotel: beautiful design. Terribly looong ... corridor. After all day in the park it is impossible walk that long way to the room with tired/sleepy child: we were staying at the end of this "magnificent mile" corridor. Out of 4 days in Orlando the last day was terrible: the dinner, ordered in the room, made me seek... Next morning we couldn't go anywhere... All day in bed and bathroom. My boy watched movies all day (unfortunately, no kids club in the hotel and I was traveling alone with a child). Access to internet was so poor, I couldn't get any time: but $10.00 per day was charged anyway (basically, for 2 bottles of water). Quick and friendly staff in valet parking. Comfortable location.

WDW Dolphin
MikeD Oct 5, 2009
The hotel is very nice and the location is great with the other Disney resorts and the Boardwalk all inter-connected. Our ... room was decent, though some exterior architecture obstructed the view of the lake and lawn. There is a $10 resort fee (not included in the price) and self parking is $9 as well. Still, it was a reasonable deal for this type of resort.

Automatic $10 charge for essentially two bottles of water. The work out room and a block of phone service you don't need ... because you can call anywhere in the US for free on your own phone doesn't add up. Then add $9 for parking. I have stayed at 10 different on site resort hotels and have never been charged for parking. Good luck finding the pool from the poor signage and the serpentine hall labyrinth you have to navigate. It's like the pool area was an afterthought. We gave directions to two different groups on the way back to the room. The place is a cold convention hall hotel. It was the only place available on short notice.

Delighted with Disney's Dolphin!
Beth Oct 4, 2009
We arrived in the evening and it was dark and pouring rain!! Thank God for the valet parking. We just pulled up to the door ... and stayed nice and dry. The staff at the Dolphin was very friendly. The check in process only took a few minutes. We found our room to be very comfortable. The heavenly beds were just that - heavenly. In fact, I woke up one morning and had dreamed I was home! We ate breakfast at the hotel which ran about $27 for two. We loved the breakfast sandwiches and fresh fruit at Picabu. The pool area looked very relaxing, although we never took advantage of it. There were cabanas to avoid the sun and lots of pool deck chairs to relax on. The hotel also had a nice beach with hammocks in the shade. The water taxi was so convenient. We used the water taxi to go to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The bus took us to Downtown Disney, the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We never waited more than ten minutes and loved never having to worry about finding the parks! Also just adjacent to the hotel was the Boardwalk. There are a few bars (nothing we were thrilled with), a store that sold limited food items (like cereals, donuts, yogurt, frozen dinners, etc) and a restaurant or two. Overall, we were very happy with the Dolphin. We were not traveling with children and did not see many children at the hotel. It was a quiet haven in a great location.

Good location, average room
Tanner Oct 4, 2009
Great hotel if you want to walk to nearby boardwalk activities and restaurants, plus easy access to Disney parks. Although ... the room was very clean and some parts seemed newly updated (flooring), others were old and just covered up with new paint. Odd room layout had very large and dimly lit entry with slate floor with no use for the space. Comfortable bed. Good price. If you are willing to give up some amenities for a good price, this is a good choice.
