Set high in the foothills overlooking Tucson and warmed by an abundance of desert sunshine, Westward Look Resort is set in an environment inspired by the beauty of its pristine natural surroundings. The decor is a blend of the Spanish colonial, Mexican, and Native American influences that are part of this area's rich cultural history. The resort grew around a 1912 homestead estate built just six months after Arizona became a state. In fact, the family living room is just off the lobby and features the original hardwood floor, stone hearth, wrought-iron chandeliers, and ocotillo-ribbed ceiling. Home to a large variety of birds, plants and wildlife, this lush 80-acre oasis is an inspiring setting. Westward Look Resort combines world-class facilities, gourmet dining, and spa treatments in a natural setting. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy onsite horseback riding, hiking, biking, birding, tennis, and swimming, plus nearby golf. Mobil Four-Star dining is accented with native produce grown in the Chef's Garden. The Lookout Bar and Grille offers more casual fare, plus live music on the weekend. Healing spa therapies feature regional desert botanicals. Nature trails, a desert gallery, and even a telescope for viewing Tucson's famous night skies enhance the enjoyment of this rare ecosystem. Southwestern-style guest accommodations at Westward Look Resort are spacious and serene, each with its own balcony or patio offering spectacular views of the mountains, desert, sunset, or city lights. Suite-sized accommodations also feature bedroom and sitting areas, generous bathrooms, and dressing areas.

Dissappointed cancellation
Bob Jan 6, 2010
We unfortunately were not able to make our trip. This was because US Airways cancelled the first flight and then the second ... flight that were we rebooked on. They could only get us out to Arizona after the wedding we were going to on 1/02/2010. The staff were very understanding and in fact agreed to give us a full refund.

A rare getaway
Q-Ball Dec 20, 2009
In town for Christmas shopping. Would have like to had more time to explore the area of the resort, like hike the trails and ... tried some of the other activities at the resort. Don't know if the hotel offered a Sunday brunch at the resturants on site. Only down fall is that they don't mention the cost for having a pet, even though it is a pet friendly resort. That was kind of the biggest surprise. But it is one of the most enjoyable stays that I've had for the quality they offer. Not use to being spoiled by such an enviornment. The bed the most comfortable ever, didn't ever want to get out of bed. The shower was beautiful. Like to go back someday soon.

Peaceful and Low Key
Yayanana Nov 25, 2009
This was my second trip to Westward Look and I would eagerly go back again. The location is no longer remote, but the short ... distance to "civilization" made it the perfect blend of resort and hotel. The perfect mild weather in November made dinner on the terrace totally enjoyable, especially as you can look down into the valley and see the city lights twinkling at against the Tucson Mountains. The hot tub at midnight provided a great finish to busy days before retiring to our king bed in a clean spacious and understated room. The rooms are arranged in clusters of villas winding through a southwestern landscape full of trees and cactus. Our stay was delightful, comfortable and quiet. Exactly the setting we wanted to off set the rest of our activities during the days.

Breakfasts and Dinners on the terrace were perfect when we took advantage of them. Far better that most "hotel" meals, and most convenient.

A perfect stay at a great hotel
Michael Oct 13, 2009
One of the best short vacations I have had. They ran the hotel like a five star resort. Big upscale rooms well decorated. ... Supurb service, outstanding facilities, and really good food. They couldn't do enough for us. I am very demanding for quality service and I thought they did everything the right way like you would expect in a 5 star resort.

I spent a week at the Westward Look while going through an intensive healing retreat and business training. The superb food, ... lovely grounds, friendly staff and beautiful room made it an experience to remember - and repeat. I'll be back next year! Have visited Tucson several times this year, and westward Look is by far the best place I've stayed. Also recommend avoiding Arizona in July/August - too hot! Had perfect weather for this visit in October.

The rooms have been recently renovated with beautiful amenities and furnishings, including large flat screen tv, ... shutters, travertine tile floors in bathroom, plush leather sofas, and super new heavenly beds. They thought of everything a traveler could want. We stepped into this incredible room to see amazing desert landscaping, mountain vistas and wildlife. We could see horse back riders from our patio. We saw rare birds like a phainopepla and a painted redstart! Eat at the Gold Room there! Food and presentation there are fantastic! Great fitness center and lap pool. It's right up against the Catalina mountains! Hiking trails right on the property! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

Westward Look Resort is fantastic
DC Sep 27, 2009
I attempted to check in at 2:00PM (official check in at 4:00PM). The clerk offered to give me a lessor room or to call me ... when the intended room was ready. I opted to wait for the room and went for a drive. She called about 30 mins later to tell me the room was ready. This is great service! The room was more like a suite and exceeded my expectations; it was huge, included a 46 inch LCD TV on a swivel arm (so I could watch in the couch area or in bed), and included a large, two part bathroom. I will recommend this resort to friends and definitely plan on returning the next time I am in Tucson.
