Fantastic time!
Relaxed and happy Oct 19, 2009
We decided to book at this hotel at the last minute for an overnight weekend getaway and we had an absolutely fantastic time. ... We didn't really know what to expect but we knew we'd have a great time when we were greeted by the courteous and friendly staff upon our arrival. The hotel was very well kept, the rooms were bright and airy with very comfortable beds. The pool and spa area was gorgeous, we felt like we were on a vacation. It was everything we wanted and more. The staff were wonderful in accommodating us as we arrived earlier than the check-in time and they promptly located a nice room for us and they also were happy to accommodate a late check-out for us too. The location was ideal because all the shops and restuarants were a stone's throw away. We rented a jetski at a nearby rental place and we had a blast! The only negative thing was being woken up in the middle of the night by noisy neighbors who were on the balcony laughing and carrying on. Not sure how long that went on for, but they eventually stopped as I'm sure the other patrons at the hotel called in to complain about the noise. Overall we feel refreshed from our weekend, we would definitely come back for another weekend stay!

We rented our Jetskis from Capo Beach Watercraft Rentals (949.661.1690). The guy who helped us (we forgot to get his name) was very friendly and provided us with a very new Sea-doo jetski. We can't wait to go back and do it again. He also has kayaks available for rent, we might do that next time too. We highly recommend going to them!

"Stella's" Italian restaurant, located in a nearby mall, served excellent food. We also really liked the breakfast buffet at the Marriott itself.

Wonderful property, nice facility
Brian Jul 31, 2009
We really enjoyed walking around the resort and the wonderful panoramic ocean views. We also liked Doheny State Beach, which ... is just down the street, very much. Our first-floor unit was a bit noisy in the early morning, with the staff supply room and elevator nearby; but, it was otherwise comfortably appointed. (I suppose it would have been nicer to have had a larger flat-screen TV, but we weren't there to watch TV.) And, while it was apparent that the resort is currently receiving an obviously necessary 'face-lift', it was also obvious that efforts were made to minimize the impact on the guests. The staff was friendly and attentive, which helped make our stay favorable. The resort is kid-friendly, except for the food, which seemed more adult-oriented. A couple seeking more seclusion and peace and quiet might not like it so much; but we had a very nice time.

Overall good trip
Joseph the traveler Jul 5, 2009
Good hotel, good staff and good location. The crib was very dirty when delivered. I had to run out and get Clorox wipes to ... clean. There was food crumbs under the cribs mattress from previous user. Once I used the the Clorox wipes almost every sheet turned black from the dirt. Make sure you wipe off the items that an infant uses from hotel clean before using.

Night and day

The hotel desk needs to train ALL their people on what they do and don't do in terms of service. Outstanding bar and ... restaurant service; top quality food. Nice touch to have a live band playing in the evenings. Depending on who was manning the desk we were told so many different stories about which room we would have and whether we could use a discount coupon it got to be almost laughable. We've stayed here a number of times and were never disappointed before - the construction will be great when done but they aren't advertising the closures on their site and should. Truth in advertising. The smoke alarm went off several times in the wing we were in due to problems with the construction. Great location and after speaking to 4 different staff we finally got a straight answer and they tried to make it right. They need to train the staff and empower them to make decisions. We will give them another chance as this was one bad weekend out of several outstanding experiences we've had there.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The lone negative was that there was someone in the room above us who must have had a small ... kid who one evening was running back and forth. The rest of the stay was very pleasant. The bed was terrific. I was not happy about the daily parking rate.

I attended a meeting that was located up the road at the Ritz Carlton. I did not want to pay to stay there so this was a ... great alternative. The staff was great. I love the location. I ran in the morning around the beautiful Dana Point harbor and had a great breakfast in the cafe.

Upon arrival at the Marriott Laguna Cliffs Resort & Spa, I knew we had hit the jackpot when the kids (adolescent boys) ... commented wow, dad, this is amazing. It was a slice of Rhode Island and Connecticutt all put together. From the rolling lawns, manicured grounds, and efficient staff, to the spectacular views of the Dana Point Marina and California Coastline, I thought I had discovered a well-kept secret. The staff was particularly helpful, and the hotel gym and spa offered more than most. Dining in the mornings on the patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a cozy fire pit made a great start to our days. Minutes from shopping, sailing, Jet Ski rentals, and a lovely beach made the location ideal. The kids were free to use the basketball courts, swimming pools, and other amenities without our direct supervision. The property is expansive, and they played frisbee and football on the lawns nearly undetected by other guests. Would highly recommend this as a family resort, or a romantic get-away for two.
