Everything needed, any kind of restaurant, clubs, sports bars, CVS, bagel place is all connected to the hotel via the bridge from the lobby but only until 11pm. Otherwise you'd have to just go out and cross the street 15 feet away. Hotel has its own restaurant. Starbucks in the hotel lobby. Relatively safe area, one-two blocks down there is a champions sports bar/restaurant and a hoooters. Tailgate parking to the football stadium is only a few blocks away. Walkable to the stadium. This hotel is right smack in the center of the city. You won't need a car or anything except if you're going back to the airport.

Room with a View
Hotel Analyst Oct 27, 2009
Great view and location. Recommend getting a higher level, although you have to wait longer for elevator service. Elevators ... are old and always packed. No fan in bathroom. This seems like an older hotel that has been drastically renovated which is why there is no fan in the bathroom, elevator models are obsolete, but you see new furniture and comfortable beds. The shower water pressure is a little weak and the water doesn't get real hot, just warm-hot at best but for at about 10 minutes before losing the heat a little. The view cannot get any better. The Marriott across the street might also be a good option except I haven't been there. Best location in my opinion as there is a direct connecting bridge from the hotel lobby to the Epicentre area across the street which is where everyone hangs out at, although that entrance to the bridge is closed after 11pm. Hotel parking is not free (15 bucks during the week and 8 bucks on the weekend) and the parking spaces are really small, fit for a compact car...again due to it being an old establishment.

Seasoned Traveler's Experience
Erica C. Jul 6, 2009
The hotel was wonderful, and the staff was exceptional. They were very helpful and polite. The only real issues we had were ... that housekeeping came by at 9:00am, 9:30am, and 10:00am before I asked them for a "Privacy Please" sign that our room was lacking. Also, the Epicenter next door can make for a very loud environment. I'm very glad that I read the reviews prior to going and asked for a quiet room. The hotel also will provide free "sleep kits" if you ask for them. Other than that, we had a great experience. There is a lovely little bar in the hotel with a bartender that made great drinks. Not the usual weak drinks you get in a hotel restaurant. The location cannot be beat except for the proximity to the Epicenter, which some people will love and some will hate. The nice thing is that it became quiet after 10pm.
Traveler type: Couples
The Epicenter is right next door, and there is a covered walkway to access it. Lots of great restaurants, and on Thursday nights there is a free concert.

Wonderful weekend getaway
Laura Jun 14, 2009
My husband and I went to see a showing of the Phantom of the Opera at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. The location was ... fantastic, particulary the fact that the hotel and arts center were connected by a glass walkway. The only thing that would have made the stay better would have been a continental breakfast or complimentary bottles of water. For the price and the feel of the hotel, I thought they would provide us with some little treat to make it that much more special. Also, parking was extra. I thought for the price the room was fantastic, very upscale with a beautiful view.

Omni Charlotte
Susie-Q May 4, 2009
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Omni on a recent visit to Charlotte (just to check it out - very nice city). The first ... night, there was a band playing outside very loudly *late* into the night. The next morning, my boyfriend was at the front desk asking if that sort of thing happened all the time. It did. The front desk staff immediately offered to move us to the other side of the hotel, which they did, to an equally nice room which was much more quiet. Kudos to the staff for being so understanding and willing to do whatever it took to make our stay more enjoyable. And the lobby bar was lots of fun, too! We also were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. We parked our car when we got there and did not get back in it until it was time to leave. Charlotte is very clean and has some super pubs (that's the Scots-Irish for you!). I would recommend a trip there to anyone.

Pleasant Surprise
Thomas Dec 31, 2008
We were a late arrival driving up from Pensacola with a dinner stop at the Atlanta Underground. We were exhausted when we ... got to the Omni smack in the center of downtown. The doorman directed us to self parking under the hotel. Check in was a snap, and we were in the room in a minute. The room was very spacious, with a killer view of downtown and the city center. The beds were very comfortable. Next time in Charlotte, we will not even consider another hotel.

I've stayed at the Omni Charlotte several times due to the location. The corner of Trade and Tryon is truly the center of the ... city. I've stayed in the junior suites, but this trip I opted for the corner suite. There must be 80 feet of windows! The views are spectacular, the only one better is the Westin Peachtree in Atlanta.

Suzanne Aug 30, 2008
Room was very clean and nice. Amenities with room, such as robes and bath toiletries were very nice. Linens on beds were ... high end and best night sleep I have ever gotten at a hotel. Location was fabulous for attending football game. Most restaurants were within walking distance. Sorry to see that all of the stores closed down on weekends. I could not even find a place to purchase a card! There were also very, very few places to get breakfast.

A Wonderful Hotel!!
Nathaniel Jul 6, 2008
First, the hotel is in uptown Charlotte, which is the center of everything. There were lots of trendy places to eat and have ... a good time. The bed in the room had to be the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I wanted them to ship the bed to my house (smile). The entire staff was friendly and the hotel was clean!! A MUST! The mall, SOUTHPARK, is a non-bargain shopper's dream come true!! LOVED IT! Beautiful houses on the way to the mall; I am considering purchasing real estate there now! The hotel price was affordable!! I paid about $280 during a holiday weekend. The hotel food was so so and I wish the pool was indoors, otherwise, A FABULOUS HOTEL!!!

Good City Vacation
Cynthia Feb 3, 2008
My purpose for the trip was business, but I brought my husbands, son and dogs! The area is metropolitan, so there are plenty ... of restaurants and things to do. The arena is right down the street and we went to the Circus on a spur of the moment decision. The hotel was clean and the staff were very professional. My only negatives are that the hotel has a large shopping area on the lower level - but it is closed on the weekends. That was strange because I like to purchase souvenirs from the Towns I visit and there was no place open to get that. Also, there is a smoking section in the 1 hotel restaurant...needless to say the stink travels into the rest of the restaurant and lobby. Beware of the homeless people who will follow you, strike up conversation and then ask for money.

Melanie Oct 2, 2007
I found the Omni Charlotte to be overpriced...there was no air circulating in my room, so I felt very dried out in the ... morning. Also, the entrance was hard to find. I was traveling alone on business and Charlotte has some vagrancy, s I felt uncomfortable walking home from dinner at 9pm.
