the front desk staff was very professional - however - we were near the elevator/ ice machine - loud. The heating/ ... airconditioning unit seemed to be broken - very loud and erratic. It even turned on when it was turned off. Made it impossible to sleep so we left at 3 am to hit the road. will not return

We requested a late check in at 4PM and room still wasn't ready until 5:20! At breakfast there was only 1 toaster and only ... half of it worked. Hotel staff asked us to be patient because they were full. That should be a good thing and they should be prepared to handle it.

Take the Sawmill Drive to Hudson River Parkway, about a 15 minute drive, over the bridge and into northwest Manhattan. Once you cross over the bridge, there is a fantastic park on the left. Plenty of paths for a nice walk, and gorgeous views over the Hudson River. You can catch the subway right there and get to anywhere in NYC.

Solid chain hotel
mongopac Jul 13, 2009
It was a good, solid, clean hotel with adequately sized rooms, good amenities and a pretty predictable, but not bad ... continental breakfast. Caveats: 1. If you google the location or GPS input in a car, it will send you to a bridge overcrossing down the street. Input 200 W. Main, Elmsford for the directions. 2. If you stay on the front side of the hotel, you will be able to hear the freeway. The rear rooms have a splendid view of a wooded hillside that is pretty amazing. At the right time in the fall it could be spectacular. 3. Water pressure in my 6th floor room was a problem, but not in others of our group on the same floor. 4. My room had a connecting door to an adjacent room that allowed sounds from the next room to be audible. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and efficiently maintained and there are freeway entrances and exits directly in front of the hotel, so its very accessible in all directions..

Decent, Worth the Price
Ed Jun 22, 2009
our non-smoking room was sprayed with some sort of strong fragrance. We are not large people but the double bed was too ... small. The staff was very accommodating in switching our room. There weren't any non-smoking rooms with bigger beds but they gave us a choice of 3 smoking rooms. We were able to air the room out a bit before we slept in it. The smoke smell was actually less of a problem than the fragrance that had been applied in the first room!

Fantastic family getaway
Fred May 26, 2009
Excellent hotel.Offers complimentary breakfast, free wifi, and 24 hours coffee.Very clean rooms, very helpful staff. The only ... con I can think of is that the hotel is almost always fully occupied. So, chances of getting an early check-in or late check-out are not too promising. We took a red-eye from California and arrived at the hotel around 10am. Not a single room was still available (our check-in was at 3pm that day). The hotel manager [...] was very helpful. He tried his best to make us comfortable in the lobby and got us in the first available room at 11am.That's the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars.

Nancy Oct 5, 2008
This was a very pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable and well-appointed. The woman who checked me in was very ... friendly and exceptionally helpful in providing directions and schedule for the train to New York. The breakfast room was not too mobbed and the offerings were quite adequate. Only two very small inconveniences: 1) the hotel is on a hill and the steps leading up to the entrance are quite steep; 2) there was only one computer in the business center. Overall, a very good value for the money.

Weekend Wedding
Julia Jul 13, 2008
The Elmsford Hampton Inn was located just around the corner from Antun's of Westchester where my sister and I attended a ... Saturday night wedding. The hotel room was very clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable! There was a nice free continental breakfast the next morning, although the 7:00am knock on the door that came with our check out receipt slide underneath wasn't too welcome on a Sunday! All in all it was a good stay, and the room was clean and comfy!

We always try to stay at the Hampton Inn in Elmsford when we are in the area visiting family. I usually compare rates and ... find that the Hampton Inn is usually one of the best buys. It's easy access to several major highways, Tarrytown, and even NYC make it a good choice for us. There are so many great places to visit-from Wave Hill in Riverdale to the cute shops in Tarrytown and Bronxville. This is the first time we had to take a smaller room due to the lack of non-smoking rooms. I have to admit that we prefer the bigger rooms with the larger bed, but the small room was still adequate and very comfortable and clean. We always enjoy the breakfast and appreciate that it has a variety of choices, including a hot breakfast. The large open room where the breakfast is located is a plus. There always seems to be people enjoying the large television, even in the evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Wave Hill is only 15 minutes or less and is right up the Sawmill and Henry Hudson Hiway in Riverdale. It's beautiful gardens, green houses, tea shop, and gallery are beautiful all year long. It is even free certain times during the week. There are family events most weekends and concerts frequently in the summer.
