Great location, nice room
annie Jan 4, 2010
We stayed here for six nights and had an overall great experience. The location was incredible - the hotel opens up straight ... onto the river walk, is right next to the other Marriott/shopping mall, and is a 5 min walk to the Alamo, Alamodome, Tower of the Americas, etc. You could easily do without a car if you planned on staying in the downtown area for most of your trip, everything is so close and lovely to walk around. The room was very nice and clean (great linens!) although I would have gladly traded part of the large bedroom/sitting area for more bathroom space. The room was HUGE but you had to climb over the toilet to close the shower door, it was that tight. The fitness center was great (chilled towels!) - new cardio and weight machines (with TVs attached and headphones available to borrow). Loved the indoor/outdoor aspect of the pool but it's really shallow - 3'9" at the deep end. It was still wonderful to wade around in and was the perfect temperature. Very friendly front desk staff. Friendly housekeeping crew too, although they were almost *too* attentive. I was sick for part of our trip and had the "do not disturb" thing on the door knob but got 3 calls from housekeeping over the course of the day wondering when they could come in and clean - they wouldn't take no for an answer! A weird thing to complain about, but it irked me nonetheless. Nothing is quite as jarring as a hotel telephone ring. We didn't rent any pay-per-view movies but the selection was incredible! There is also a movie theatre and IMAX within walking distance of the hotel. If/when we return to San Antonio, I would definitely consider staying here again (ultimately depends on $$!).

Great location but rooms need updating.
Travelin' Stan Dec 7, 2009
Wonderful staff, great location but Marriott needs to spend some time and money to bring the hotel to a condition worthy of ... the Marriott name. First room had a condensate line over the bathroom sink which steadily dripped. It dripped on my head and clothes. The shower had no hot water. The staff apologized and moved me to a similar room without the aforementioned problems but there were terrible stains on the carpet. The weather was unseasonably cold and the lobby was very cold as were the meeting rooms on the Ballroom level which was one open floor up from the lobby. They need vestibules or air-locks at their entry doors.

Even a Health worker at a bus stop, checked to see if the No. 7 line was working on Vets DAy. Great Time and would recommend it to everyone! We loved the accomadations and the City!

Great location in San Antonio
Prof Joe Nov 3, 2009
We flew into San Antonio on a package (flight, car and hotel) for the weekend. It saved us some money and the accommodations ... were excellent. Access to the Marriott Riverwalk on the Market Street entrance was a bit confusing -- a one way street and the turn in required a reverse entry. Hotel parking prices were expensive ($25-$44 a day) and the lot full, however, the valet pointed us to the underground parking garage next door. The price was $8 per day. Our first room was wheelchair friendly, which we did not need. The room and shower were oversize. Unfortunately the shower could not be turned completely off and dripped throughout the night. A repair person could not fix it and the hall carpet became saturated so we requested another room. Although smaller, it was very nice. We would choose the Marriott Riverwalk again -- friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and very convenient to the San Antonio river and the River Center.
Traveler type: Couples
I suggest that you do not park in the hotel parking garage. ($44 a day for valet parking). Instead, drive 50 feet and park your own car in the parking garage next to the Marriott Riverwalk on Market Street for $8 -charges are 24 hours 9am to 9am. It is an easy access to I-35 and other major freeways. Late fall is an excellent time to be in San Antonio -- the summers can get very warm. During the holidays the river walk is spectacular.

The hotels' location to the Riverwalk,Alamo and other places of interest was great. It was clean, updated and had a balcony ... with a wonderful view of downtown San Antonio. The only complaint was the parking at the hotel being 27.00 or 33.00 if using valet however there is a public garage next door at 8.00 per day. Despite, this issue for the money the hotel makes it worth it I would strongly recommend it.

We enjoyed the hotel location, everything we wanted to do/see was within walking distance. We spent many hrs. walking the ... Riverwalk route, stopping at stores, eating along the way, taking the riverboat ride, went to the Imax theatre to see the "Alamo" before touring the Alamo. The Alamo meant a lot more to us after seeing the 40 min. film. Number 1 for me was walking the King Williams Historic neighborhood. Our 5 day trip was everything I wanted to do -- very memorable. Took a side trip to Fredricksburg (71 miles) was very quaint.

In town for 4 nights to attend a conference at the San Antonio Convention Center (conveniently right across the street from ... the Marriott Riverwalk). The hotel was clean with good customer service. Requests were readily accomodated (earlier check-in, extra towels, rollaway, etc.). Location was great, between the Rivercenter Mall and convention center, easy walking for conference sessions and food / shopping. Our room was clean and simple. However, we were surprised there was no refrigerator available. Overall, a great experience. We were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.
