Good Location, Poor facility
Joseph Nov 28, 2009
We stayed at this hotel primarily for the location, that was a mistake. The halls are loud, the walls were patched and ... bubbling in our room, and it was an unpleasant experience. We made the best of it, by not staying in the room.

Perfect location for the price
Eugene Nov 27, 2009
Would have been nice to have a coffee pot in the room but Starbuck's was a cross the street. The location allowed us to ... shop/walk and return to the hotel for rest and start again. The hotel is old so may not be for everyone but definitely has character. Our room with a king size bed was large and very comfortable.

Bistro 110 is a very fine restaurant just around the corner from the Tremont. Start with a Bellini Martini and try the cassoulet as an entree.

Unbeatable price for the location
Mudbug Oct 29, 2009
OK, if you need all new surroundings, this is not the place for you. The Tremont is a faded rose, with some nicks and ... scuffs. But everything was clean, the bathroom was remodeled and everything worked. What is incomparable are the ambiance and decor! It was like stepping into a movie from the 1920s. And the location! Try to find another room in the Gold Coast area for about $100.

Quiet but Close to the Action
Hipster Geezer Oct 26, 2009
This is an older hotel but clean, comfortable, and above all, quiet, even with Michigan Ave. just a block away. The staff is ... personable and helpful and the views spectacular. The Tremont is close to everything in the Water Tower area but secluded enough to be restful when you've had enough big city jostle and jump.

Tired Tremont
Chicago newlywed Oct 21, 2009
Great location, nice staff, quite were the positives. The negative was run-down tired rooms. Very disappointed and stayed ... there for our wedding night. The terrible metal window shade and no curtains won the prize. I do not recommend and wish we could have stayed somewhere else.

The Tremont
For my daughter's birthday Oct 19, 2009

hotel aminities
unsatisfied customer Oct 12, 2009
although the suite was clean and beautiful, there were zero aminities - not even a coffee maker. The kitchen was completely ... bare - no spoon, glass or anything. What is the use of having a kitchen when it is completely empty? The Heating/AC unit didn't work well and the room temperature rose to 90 degrees, so I had to completely switch it off to cool the room down.

Price/location outweigh pizzazz
Super Shopper Oct 11, 2009
Rooms were average size, with dated furniture. Bathrooms are smallish - really only one person could be in there at a time. ... Our room was on the street side, so was noisy, but other rooms in the back might not notice the noise as much. Location was great for doing things on Michigan Avenue. The location and price trumped the room deficiencies, since we spent very little time actually in our room.

Just a place to sleep.
Karen Sep 21, 2009
Great location for visiting downtown. Room was very bland, extremely basic TV (about 10 channels), no ice machine in the ... hall, no in-room fridge, and the desk clerk refused to put our leftovers in the hotel's fridge even after I had called a few days prior to our stay and was told that there would be a fridge that the staff would use to store any leftovers we may have had. The hotel withdrew an "incidental" charge (in case we ordered movies or whatever was what the desk clerk said) from my bank account without letting me know, which almost overdrew my account. We didn't order anything extra, so now I must wait 2-3 business days to get money back that I had no intention of spending at the hotel. Overall, though, it was alright. You get what you pay for here. We were still extremely happy to spend so little on the hotel room so we could indulge where it really mattered.

Our room was on the 15th floor overlooking Michigan Ave and the John Hancock Building. From the moment we arrived, the staff ... was helpful and pleasant. The room was a little small but was clean and had everything we needed icluding internet access. The hotel lobby and waiting area is very warm and comfortable. We have already decided that when we return to Chicago, we will stay at the Tremont.

Stayed in the two (2) bedroom suite. Great location, great room but there was this disconcerning sounds that went on whenever ... someone used the toilet in the adjacents suites. It was so loud at first we thought someone was trying to break into the room!
