Although there is a cafe on site, it is expensive. The breakfast buffet will run a family of two over twenty dollars. It is much cheaper to drive off-site to eat for every meal!

If you don't want to rent a car they have a taxi service that offers military discounts. $5 for the taxi and $2 a mile. Overall saved about $100 and didn't have to worry about drinking and driving.

I wanted to take my wife on a mini-vacation to the beach for her birthday. Holiday Inn offered rooms directly on the beach, ... with a budget that we could afford. Overall, the hotel was fantastic. The view from our balcony was amazing! We could sit and look over the beach, or we could turn and look over Highway 98 at all the hotels and lights. The room was extremely large and the bed was insanely comfortable. The room came with a microwave and refrigerator, as well as a flatscreen tv and wireless internet. Unfortunately, the bathroom was pretty small. This detail, I choose to overlook because the rest of the room was gigantic, which was so nice. There were cosmetic defects throughout the room as well. Again, I can overlook this fact because, for the price and the location, the room was better than expected. However, the wireless internet did not work in our room. I cannot overlook this fact because I am in the process of getting a Master's Degree, and needed the internet to submit work! On Saturday morning, when I mentioned the problem, I was informed that the IT company would be called. The internet did not work during our entire stay, unless, of course, I went and sat in the hallway. Overall, the hotel was great, the beach fantastic, but there were some flaws.

This hotel was very nice and in a great location. Most of the other hotels in the area are pricier, and not worth it unless ... you really care about great rooms and service. For me its all about the beach and I was able to enjoy it to the fullest. If you have kids there are also great activities for them. There were no noisy tennants, and the security there is good also. All guests are required to wear a wrist band to keep people from roaming into the hotel. The area was awesome, just a few miles from the harborwalk where you can go deep sea fishing, dolphin watching, or go on a relaxing boat ride. The restaurants on the harborwalk are also great with fresh daily catches right from the harbor. Awesome location, best hotel deal in the area if you don't care about first class pampering offered at other more expensive hotels.

I didn't want to leave! The friendly service and the way the staff bent over backwards to accomodate was awesome! there ... were activities daily at 2pm then at 6 pm for kids including treasure hunts, carnivals, pizza and movie night, making sundays, magic shows etc... not to mention an activity room for the kids always available which helped on rainy days. The beach is right outside the hotel, and the indoor pool kept my 4 year old so happy. Free popcorn and icecream and coffee and dvds daily also made the stay nice. This was our second year and we plan to go back again soon. i'm not sure i can wait another year!

harbour walk had sunset dolphin cruises that were a lot of fun. The "southern star" let the kids steer the boat for real and gave a junior captain certificate to them which was awesome. The holiday inn had a coupon for this cruise that allowed a child to go free ($16 value!) and $2 off for each adult which reduced the price to $25 each adult, so for about $55 we had a very fun 2 hour boat ride and saw many, many dolphins!

This is a great hotel. On the beach, plenty of fun stuff for our kids to do, nice rooms, free movie rentals, and a great ... location in Destin. Overall a great stay. We will be going back here.

I ordered my reservations on Orbitz...don't do that again and I will never again. We decided that the hotel was gross and we ... left early and could not get our money back...yeah I know I read the fine print but not getting a ocean side room was pretty bad...we got to overlook the parking lot. It was quite a jaunt to the water too. The pool was ok but I was not happy about the entire trip. Water was beautiful though...we spotted the hotel we wanted to stay at. Don't book at Holiday Inn. Staff was not friendly and felt like another number to them.

This hotel is located in a great area of Destin, close to everything. Directly on the beach (huge plus++++++) The service ... was excellant from checking in to room service and maid service. The food was awesome really good home cooked meals which is usually lost on vacation. This hotel caters to children and their Buccaneer program and all activities were incredible. My son is 20 months old and we discovered he doesn't like sand so we really took advantage of the activities and so glad we chose this hotel. It would have been a miserable trip without all the fun they have planned for kids. I don't suggest staying at this hotel for a romantic getaway due to the all the children and screaming etc... But if you're planning a family vac. it's perfect!!!!!!!!! The only thing I was bummed about is they only have 2 washers and 2 dryers and they were in use all day. I rushed downstairs to check them about 9:45 p.m. and they were finally opened. So I went to the front desk to get change and they informed me that if you have clothes in the washer or dryer at 10:00 p.m. they are set on a timer and automatically shut off. Totally not fair. Either get more washers and dryers or keep it open all night. It's in a place that guests would not be interrupted. That's my only negative comment and I'm sorry I had that one but it is what it is. The lost star and 4 rating is due to the laundry facility. With small children washing is a must esp. when they have days where the children make chocolate sundaes free. My son was wearing his from head to toe.

Hotel staff was very nice. Even when I had the do not disturb sign on the door, the staff still left a bag of towels and ... toiletries at my door. They have activities two times a day for kids...great excuse to get them out of the sun. Great location, right on the beach I would not stay at this hotel if I was not traveling with my kids

The hotel was in a great location on the beach, easy to get to great shopping and restaurants. Our only problem was with the ... elevators, they were slow and creaky. My daughter hates elevators so it was very scary to her. A couple of times we were not sure if we were going to make it to the 7th floor, but maintenance did work on them.

The beach was so packed it was almost imposible to find a spot. I chose the the cheaper room but was not told it was close to ... the loud lobby.The wireless internet was constantly up and down. My family left a night early because we could no longer stand the hard beds. This is a 100% family hotel , if you are by yourself I would not suggest this hotel.

A staff member at the front desk recommended us to eat at McGuire's Irish Pub. We all loved it! Unique dishes along with classic dishes for those more picky. Surprisingly classy atmosphere for a bar and grill type place.

From our Hotel room we took the elevator down stairs to the door to beach and with in steps we were not only on the beach but in that beautiful emerald green water.

The Silver Sands Factory Stores were awesome...I would suggest going on a weekday, not on the weekend. We went on Friday afternoon and it wasn't very busy which made shopping really enjoyable.

While the food at the hotel is fine if you've had a long day and just want to hang out, get in the car and drive a few miles west. We had a great dinner at Harry K's. Super location, excellent food and a great staff.
