Great Hotel

In the middle of our trip I booked this hotel on the same day when the original hotel I booked (to save some money) was far ... below expectations. The Westin was proof that you get what you pay for. This is a typical Westin with wonderful service and comfortable beds. When we checked in, they didn't have any Deluxe rooms with two twin beds available so the manager upgraded us to a Superiore room (room was very big for Europe) instead to accomodate us. Hotel is very clean and convenient to the Duomo area. Taxi rides to and from were inexpensive, but can add up. Traffic and bad drivers will add to the commute. From the Duomo and shopping, it can be a long walk if you are carrying a lot of things or at the end of a long day. It's not a modern hotel, but they've kept it in good condition.

Villa Nechi, part of the Italian National Trust, FAI, is just a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. Villa Nechi was the highpoint of our stay in Milan. If you travel before November 2009, the Triennale is a must for the arts an architecture affecionadoes.

Going to the airport from this hotel you should take a taxi expensive about $100 US but much easier than the train station.

Five star sucks
Used to better Jul 27, 2009
I know there are inferior hotels in Milan, but the Westin Palace is not the Palace we want it to be. Even though we paid in ... advance we had to haggle over the price of the deluxe room. No free upgrades here for Starwood Preferred members. The room had not been vacuumed in decades as there were dust bunnies around the perimeter. The textile wall covering was covered with soot from the building air conditioning and water stains on the walls from ducts that were not insulated. They do not know how to do basic building maintenance. Forget the breakfast at 37 euros unless you negotiated it as part of the deal. The only saving grace was the heavenly bed. The hotel is located right at Republica Metro and three blocks away from Estacione Centrale the main train station so I would have to say the location cannot be beat. If you want true five star think Four Seasons or Bulgari. No freebies at this hotel. Nickel and dime to the max.

This is a beautiful hotel with a great staff - very helpful. It is centrally located a short walk from Milan Central station ... and a 20 minute walk from El Duomo. There is also a metro stop very close as well. I would recommend it highly

This is a nice hotel close to local transportation. Restaraunt is very limited and expensive. The room was large and ... compfortable. The park in front was nice.
