Great hotel AND amazing staff!

Very personable staff. ALWAYS ready to help with a SMILE! Amazing! Hotel was walking distance to Riverwalk mall and the ... conference center. At the end of a long day of walking, the feather bed was awesome! I would definately stay there again!

The hotel is chic, hip and unique in style, but the fundamentals were lacking. Our room had tattered carpet and a wall that ... had a large obvious stain. The staff were eager to please, friendly, and very available, but we needed them too often because of repeated problems with a non-functioning room key and troubles with the TV and telephone in the room. The pricing of our travel package made this stay worthwhile, but I would have been disappointed with the stay at full price.

Shaky start off, great finish
Lizzy Jul 21, 2009
My husband and I were excited to stay at the W, but upon our arrival, we were told that the hotel was "overbooked". I had ... prepaid through Orbitz two weeks earlier and they sent us to another hotel for the evening. Quite a pain, but upon our arrival back at the hotel the next day, they upgraded us to a suite to make up for the inconvenience. I'm still not sure if the hotel was at fault or it was Orbitz. I will never use Orbitz to book another hotel again. Beware, you may not have a room when you arrive to your destination.

Fantastic Service, room needs details
traveling man Jun 15, 2009
This was the first time I stayed at a W hotel, and it was fantastic. Above all else about the hotel, the service was truly ... superior. Additionally, great contemporary decor, wonderful lobby environment. The only complaint is that for the price and the reputation, there were a few details about the room that needed attention: Bathroom was small and needed a touch up (messy caulk everywhere, strangely small sink), all the electronics in the bedroom are lovely, but the cords were everywhere and needed to be cleaned up. Overall a superb experience though.

Good location, but not spectacular
cc Apr 4, 2009
The hotel is relatively nice, but not worth the price. I saw similar reviews, but thought that since I was getting a good ... deal, it would be worth it for me. It just wasn't. The location was good (5-10 min walk to the French Quarter - about as close as you want to be), but it was otherwise unimpressive. The hotel has a very modern style, which would be nice, but it means that it has lots of solid dark colors, and you can see how old and dirty everything is. I think other hotels in similar conditions look better because they choose patterns that don't show all the scratches and dirt everywhere. The building itself is old. On the airport shuttle to the hotel, we stopped at 6 or 7 other hotels to drop people off, and every single one of them was far more impressive than the W, despite the fact that they are probably cheaper. The building looks exactly like the old "New Frontier" in Vegas that they tore down. There was one redeeming feature - the gym. Modern equipment, very nice gym for free. For those of you who want to work out while on vacation, the gym alone might make it worth your money. The hotel is also right next to Harrah's casino, in case you like to gamble. We went there at night a few times and it was very convenient.

I LOVE THE W!
Laura Oct 11, 2008
The W is the nicest location, the greatest staff, and THE most comfortable beds! I have stayed here 1 time before, and WANTED ... to come back. The concierge set me up with a ride at night to a restaurant he reccomended in the quarter, nice for a single girl on her own in New Orleans, and then I got to see a show, and a quick taxi back! I couldn't have asked for it to be a better experience!

The W New Orleans is in an excellent location that is convenient for seeing the French Quarter, the Warehouse district and ... the Garden District. It is two blocks away from the Charles St. Street Car and the Canal Street Street Car. The hotel itself was very trendy and refreshing. The staff were excellent and very friendly. I'm not sure if we got a promotional rate. I would stay here again without thinking twice.

Good location
Yoshiko Jan 4, 2008
The W in New Orleans is located ideally, just a few short blocks from the French Quarter, the aquarium and across the street ... from Harrah's for gambling and late night activities. Staff at the W were not unusually helpful with exception to the Bellmen who were friendly and gave great service. We were disappointed in their housekeeping having asked them to clean the room one day - we called the front desk and they said they would take care of it, but, they did not show up. Further, we asked for fresh towels, twice and NO TOWELS! No tips!

This cathy saying was really luived up to. This was one of the best hotels with all the right amenities you could ask for. ... Great conceirge service and staff was inpeccable. Very friendly and down to earth. The room was very comfortable. There was a small leak in bathroom faucet but definitely didn't kill the deal. Food in town was to die for. I will definitely try to stay in all W Hotels.
