Park Royal - Would not stay here again
HM Nov 19, 2009
Did 2 tours which was excellent: Isla mujers and Chichinetza. Staff were very nice except front desk Supervisor. Food was ... good but only buffet and 1 restaurant in the premises. DId not like the room (mildew smell), roach in the room, front desk supervisor was not friendly when he was asked to switch our room. He did change our room with attitude and gave us a worse room. 1st room was noisey. I have been to punta cana, Puerto rico and Jamaica where the rooms were nice and the food was execellent with different resaurants to go to in the same resort. Great activity in the resort. This hotel has very boring activities and not life entertainment -like dancers etc...

The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. People were constantly cleaning and keeping all in order. The food was ... plentiful and of good quality. The a la carte restaurant food was fabulous and has a tremendous ambience. The drinks were not "watered" and, in fact, were sometimes too potent- but good. Not much at night, but there are always places to go if one wishes. A very nice hotel.

AMAZING -- STAFF WAS SO KIND & FRIENDLY
Tsb1119 Oct 31, 2009
First, let me start by saying that I rarely write reviews so the fact that I am compelled to write one speaks volumes. This ... was a great hotel. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with tequila sunrises as a welcome drink. Everyone is SUPER friendly and goes the extra mile to help you. There was not a time when I walked by and someone did not say "Good Morning" or smiled, or asked if I was ok. Everyone who works at the hotel was so accomodating and really wanted my stay to be as comfortable as possible. They truly made my vacation the best it could be. I got the all inclusive package and while the food wasn't incredible, it was good. I especially liked the omelet station where you can create your own omelet. Dinner was ok, and I think that this is common for all inclusives. It's probably impossible to have every dish be made to perfection. Dinner at El Mirador was the best. The portions were smaller but after being stuffed for days you hardly notice. And it was SOOOOOO romantic! They have a violin player and candles, it's just beautiful! And again, everyone goes out of their way to be so kind and accomodating! Of course the best part is that alocholic drinks are 100% free which I took full advantage of! And the beach and the views are BEAUTIFUL. The grounds are SO clean and every morning we would see the hotel staff literally wiping down each and every chair. If you're going to stay in Cancun this is the best place. Right across the mall, LaIsla so you'll never get bored! Viva Mexico!!!

I've stayed at Better...and worse
The boss Oct 27, 2009
Fifth trip to Cancun; this was the least desireable hotel. Rooms were laid out and the size of the drive-by motels of the ... '60's. Everything closed down at midnight. Both restaurants closed between 11am and 12:30pm; no such thing as a late breakfast or early lunch. You are allowed two bottles of water per room, per day; after that, you pay. You can't bring any food or beverage to your room. No brand name booze. The one thing I must say is the staff was the BEST I've ever experienced; it was the only thing that "saved this vacation".

Anne Oct 27, 2009
Wonderful service. Could hardly believe the value with all food and drinks included - all day. How do they make any money? ... Surrounded by 100s of hotels. Everything around is new including attractions and shopping centres so the area lacks any heart. This is Cancun specific not the hotel. It was great. It will appeal to lots of travellers.

Great Attention to Detail
Millie Oct 21, 2009
The hotel was immaculate. There was great attention to detail in cleaning, meal presentation and variety, daily activities ... and friendliness of the entire staff. The buffet served a different "theme" dinner each evening. There also was an Italian restaurant on site that served everyone in a very classy manner, even carrying our salad from the salad bar. Everyone on staff spoke to us when we passed in the halls or by the pool. The dining room wait staff also was very friendly and could communicate in Spanish and English.

We enjoyed Park Royal very much. We went the very beginning of October and it was empty! We pretty much had the pools, the ... restaurants and the beach all to ourselves! The hotel was very clean and the service was amazing. The only thing we didn't like was that there were no clocks in the rooms, there wasn't a hot tub and the pools closed at 8 pm. Also, the beds weren't all that comfortable. Otherwise, we had a lot of fun and would definitely stay at Park Royal again.

Park Royal a Great Place to Stay!
gtrgreg Sep 16, 2009
Right in the middle of the Hotel district, Park Royal had great food, nice staff and of course a great backyard to the ... Caribbean. We visited during the off season so there was always enough beach chairs and open sand right next to the water. The hotel was right accross the street from the La Isla shopping center which has lots of activities and shows and a great aquarium where there is an excellent dolphin show. The only problem was the travel agency that has an office in the hotel. They just about nag you to death about signing up for one of the travel packages to either the ruins or theme parks in Cancun. If you just want peace and quiet and to enjoy a nice stay just tell them up front you don't want to do anything.

The room and hotel were exceptionally clean! The staff were all friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Great ... location with mall across stret and bus stop out front. Bus comes every 5 minutes and only approx. $1.10 per couple to flea market. The Italian restaurant was terrific in food and staff ( ate there 3 of 4 nights, different entree each night). Best beach on the strip. Only wish they had some entertainment at hotel in evenings.

Wonderful hotel, great location, loved the layout of the facility, pools, restaurants, snack area, scenic views, hourly ... activities, variety of foods and drinks were outstanding. Transportation via bus or taxi was very easy and cheap. We were surprised when our transportation for a tour was a Mercedes sedan. We took a day excursion sailing to Isla Mujeres was fantastic and beautiful. Bartenders and wait staff very friendly and met all our needs and wishes. Someone was always cleaning. The place was spotless. We felt very secure and safe there were always security around. We will definitely return.

the experience was great. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant and the food was good, rooms were kept very clean. As ... adults without children i would have liked to have the pool and bar stay open a litte later. the lobby bar closed at midnight and the night was still young so we left the hotel and went into town by bus which was very close and had a fabulous time! Police were visable.

Great vacation and very relaxing
Eric Sep 1, 2009
My vacation was very relaxing and enjoyable. This is the second time I've stayed at the Park Royal Cancun. The staff is ... outstanding and they work hard to make your stay the best. I did go snorkeling with the whale sharks north of Cancun and it was about a 2hr boat ride to the site where the sharks were. Also went scuba diving in Cancun on two different reefs as well as Cozumel. The water temp at 50' in Cancun was 78 degrees and Cozumel water temp at 90' was 86 degrees. If you never have been to Cancun you should go. This was the first time I purchased a package to include hotel and flight through Orbitz. I got a great deal and I will check Orbitz the next time I need a vacation.

Jackie Aug 25, 2009
The hotel staff were all very friendly and nice to us from the moment we got there! The swim up bar and beach were off the ... hook, and since there were a lot of children there when we went it was nice that they had a seperate pool for adults only. The location is GREAT! We stayed right across from La Isla mall which has awesome shops and food, also a movie theater! The distance from the clubs was like 2 minutes on bus, save your money and use buses not taxis its only 75 cents for the bus! Also to bargain on souvenirs head down to the flea market on the bus too! Its right by the clubs.. This was the most AMAZING trip i've ever had in my life.. i would definitley recommend this hotel to other people.. the only down side was there were a lot of families so a lot of kids.. the food was superb though! I read reviews before and they said too much chicken.. but there was sooo much more! The cuisine was to die for! :) Great job!

Happy travelers Aug 22, 2009
We spent a week here - This was a nice vacation spot. We rented a car to do some excursions like a drive south to the fishing ... village Puerto Moreles, the beach town Playa del Carmen, and Tulum to see Mayan ruins by the sea. Another day excursion was to Chichen Itza; long drive but very interesting and worth it. Another day we took a ferry to Isla Mujeres for a visit and snorkeling. The hotel was very clean, service was very good, staff very attentive. Food was very good, although there was not enough variety of restaurants. There is the buffet and one other option for dinner which is Italian. Very good - Chef [...] made an effort to speak to us two of our three visits there. There is a garden snack bar available 12-6 with hamburgers, nachos, etc.Be careful about the locals [only some] outside the hotel taking advantage. Check the options for prices; they will vary. We chose to parasail on the beach just next to the hotel beach - we only received half the ride compared to others but got nowhere challenging the organizer. Oh well; parasailing was still really good. Try to organize this sort of thing through the hotel so you have recourse if you don't get what was agreed. The beach at the hotel was great - we spent a lot of time there. It would be nice if the hotel provided more umbrellas; we had to go early in the morning and reserve chairs with towels under umbrellas. A lot of folks wanted a little shade but couldn't...Pools only open until 7 - and the swim up bar is in the pool available to kids rather then the adult pool. Drinks were good; they were customized by request. As other reviews said-a dollar tip here and there really got good results and of course was very much appreciated. It was annoying that there was a charge to use the spa/fitness center - if this was all-inclusive, why not the fitness center??Overall this was a very good experience and we recommend it!

If you want to go clubbing and dance and drink and have a good time, go to the Congo. The cover is $20.00 and you get an open bar for the rest of the night till 6:00am. If you want to see a show while in a night club, go to Coco Bongo. The cover is $50.00, the lines a ridiculous, and the staff is very rude. They do not tell you at the door that the show is on the balcony, so be sure to position your self across from the balcony so you can actually see something. Otherwise, be prepared to be pushed around from one spot to another, which tends to get very annoying! I must admit that the show that they put on is actually very good and entertaining and it is definitely a unique experience. Also, if you go to The Congo and happen to feel hungry, be sure to stop at the restaurant next door and have yourself some tacos al pastor, they are SOOOOOOOO worth it.
