Couldn't be any closer to Graceland
MulroyMaggie Oct 30, 2009
We arrived late in the evening, but it was a short journey from Airport. Freshened up and needed somewhere to eat. Enquired ... at the reception and they made a phone call to local restaurant,(about a mile away) who courteously sent a pink Cadillac to pick us up. Nice touch. You couldn't be any closer to Graceland, walking distance. The Hotel staff were friendly, rooms were kept lovely and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Self service breakfast and there was a good selection cereal, breads waffles and fruit, all kept topped up. The only downside for us, was that apart from Graceland there is not much else to do in the area. We didn't pick up the hire car until we were leaving to travel on. Which on hind sight might have been a mistake, as I think you need the car, as the likes of Downtown, Beale street would be a good 20 mins away. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Days Inn Memphis, and would recommend it to anyone that wanted to visit Graceland.

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. One of our rooms was infested with bugs. They did move us but not ... until the next day so we had to cram into one room. They refused to give us any sort of refund and did not seem sympathetic with our problem or even concerned about fixing it. They just brushed off the bug problem as if they knew about it and didn't plan on doing anything about it. The beds are also very uncomfortable and we all had trouble sleeping. The pillows were flat and hard and the air conditioning didn't work properly. The only good thing about this hotel was that we really could walk to Graceland. But the surrounding area is not very good.

We ate at Neeleys BBQ (the Neeleys are Food Network Stars) and it was great. The decor was very plain but the BBQ was great. Huge portions at a very good price. First time in a long time that I could not finish what was served.

We usually eat late in the evening at nice restaurants when traveling. Our meals here were late nights and not being familiar with the area we did not drift far. We took home and ate fast foods from restaurants which were a short drive down the road. Eating back at our room allowed us time together alone. Our room had a pleasent aptmosphere. We did not see any steak houses but that does not mean they were not near by.

Huge room and bed. First time on a "memory foam" mattress. Took some getting used to but was okay. Guitar shaped pool was ... cute. Super friendly staff. Very helpful. Loved the make your own waffles with the breakfast. The area around the hotel is not the best of neighborhoods but it is also not the worst. I felt safe travelling through but not sure I'd go out for a midnight stroll. It was a good four day stay and was a very good value.

Unbeatable location
Mooyai Oct 9, 2009
We were there to view Graceland and the marching ducks at the Peabody Hotel plus tasted Uncle Lou's Fried chickens. The ... proximity to Graceland and 24hr. Elvis movies on TV were the selling point for us. Unfortunately, the movies were a joke, half of the time we were staring at the title screen. We had to call down to the front desk numerous to get the movie started. The 24hr. movie was the same movie over and over again for 24hr. or more. We woke up with "Clam Bake" went to bed with it, woke up the next morning with the same movie. The towels were so thin we could see through it, in fact one of them we actually did see through it because there was a hole in it. We did not use the small pool, it didn't look inviting with paint peeling all around and inside the pool. However, the made it yourself waffle at breakfast and the walking distance to Graceland and close proximity to Uncle Lou's Fried chicken were the bright spot on the whole stay.

WE MET THE OWNERS AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL IN SHOWING US WHERE TO EAT AND SAVE MONEY AT THE SAME TIME. We stayed at the Days Inn because it was next to Graceland. Even though the location wasn't great we never had a problem but ... due to the area we only left the motel to visit Graceland then we left, we never strayed away to sight see. We walked to Graceland and nearby shoppes. It is a very busy tourist area with lots of people walking the shoppes. Days Inn had a great breakfast and at our stay there were lots of people staying there. Staff was friendly and it had everything that the motel listed so no false advertising.

The room was clean, staff friendly. We had traveled all night and could not check in until 1:00 pm. Check out time is 11:00 ... am and that isn't even 24 hours. I think this is wrong. I think that when you explain that you have traveled all night, special provisions should be made. We had to stay in the park and at the mall until check in time. Not enough towels in the room, also.

Hotel is walking distance from Graceland. Marlows restaraunt picked us up in a pink cadilac limo you have to try the ribs no ... matter the price they are worth it. Room was comfortable but I noticed when I dropped something on the floor in the bathroom it looked like no one had cleaned the toilet base for a while. There was old hair and urine around the base and it was not new. Other then that I can only tell myself the rest of the room was ok and I did not think about it. Breakfast was great staff was nice. I only got asked for money from one homeless guy not bad for downtown Memphis. Price and location you cannot beat and it is worth what you pay. I would recommend to friend without OCD. Elvis memorabilia was ok but not original just a bunch of pictures maybe printed off internet and framed on wall. I had a great time however I say stay here.

Great place to stay near Graceland
Memphis visitor Jul 13, 2009
I selected the Days Inn at Graceland after reading reviews on Orbitz. I was looking for a clean, economical place to stay ... that was in walking distance of The King. The place was nice and the staff was so helpful that I definitely would come back and stay there again. The Days Inn staff went way beyond the call of duty for me. I arrived early in the a.m. and was able to store my luggage and computer laptop in a room within eyesight of the front desk while I visited Graceland most of the day. Having stayed at places with so-so air conditioning, I can't tell you what a relief it was that afternoon to walk into a very clean, cold room with microwave and refrigerator that was located next to the very cool guitar-shaped pool. This place is Elvis all the time, with a lobby filled with memorabilia, the Elvis radio station playing, and two channels of Elvis-related movies and film clips added to the TV line-up. I was worried that the Elvis songs may play late but they stop in the evening, so the place was quiet and relaxed that evening, which was a Saturday night. It seems family-oriented and even dog-friendly. When I arrived, one woman was posing with her dog, Elvis, in the lobby in front of an Elvis statue as the woman's daughter took a photo. The staff was fine with this. The breakfast included a fine array of the usual items (toast, juice, muffins, cereal, coffee) but making your own hot waffles using a waffle iron really adds a nice touch. I noticed the staff was especially attentive to making sure everything stayed clean and well-organized in the breakfast area. The staff recommended Marlowe's Restaurant for a nearby dinner, and called and arranged for me to be picked up in the restaurant's pink Cadillac. I really appreciated this recommendation since I was on my own and wasn't sure where to dine. I had spent two evenings on Beale Street (great time, but ribs ranged from good to fair) and just wanted a good meal, a cold beer, and dessert. Marlowe's had all of the above, with delicious ribs and fine service. It, too, has a fun Elvis theme and a small gift shop. The restaurant picks up diners from nearby hotels and returns them (it is free but tip the driver) in that hoot of a pink car. You just can't beat it. The Days Inn is right next door to a store called Memphis Outlet that features much of the same Elvis merchandise as Graceland (complete with the Graceland logo) at far cheaper prices. For example, Graceland sold one T-shirt for $19.99, but at the outlet it was on sale for $12. One final reason to stay there is the free shuttle service to the airport from the Days Inn. This helped me make my flight and saved me money on a cab as well.

Ask the hotel staff to call Marlowe's and pick you up in its pink Cadillac with Elvis plates. It had excellent ribs, good service, and was reasonably priced. Any Elvis fan would enjoy this place.

MY TIME AT THE INN
ELVIS FAN Jun 25, 2009
it was good, not the best, but for the price it was great. the one thing that could have been better was if you could chose ... the ELVIS movies you wanted it watch, the one that was playing,"it happened at the world's fair" played all day and the disc was dirty and parts of the movie were skipped. also the tonic machines were out of order or not working right. but i would stay there again. also the add online said there was free shuttle to and from the hotel, when leaving on the 23rd. the front desk called and was told that the shuttle was not running. but for the most part it was across the street from GRACELAND which was the only reason I WAS THERE.
