A good deal, and a cozy stay
Nomadic Adventurer Oct 19, 2009
This hotel is located just east of downtown Charleston, across the street from the Clay Center for the Performing Arts and ... accessible to all the major roads that go through Charleston. It's not exactly the lap of luxury, but (a) you get what you pay for and (b) for what you do pay for, it's a great deal. The hotel is very comfortable, the staff were very friendly, and the location is ideal for just about anything you might want to do in Charleston. I could tell that the hotel had been remodeled recently, and there were plenty of traces of what used to be there. Not that that's a bad thing - what I got is about all I could have asked for with a place like the Fairfield. In short, I would say I was neither pleasantly surprised nor disappointed by my experience at the hotel. I would definitely stay there again if I were back in Charleston.

Taylor Books on Capitol Street near Lee Street, is a terrific place to lounge around with a book or a cup of coffee, or even check out the art and/or history exhibits they have on display. A friend of mine from Charleston recommended it to me, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone passing through town - there's really something for everyone.

Excellent location, great breakfast
PA Grandma Sep 14, 2009
Good location - close to LOTS of activities and neighborhoods. What I missed? A Sunday newspaper on site. Since we didn't ... have enough change for the machine a block away, we 'borrowed' a free Sunday paper from the hotel lobby next door. We've stayed in several different motels in several different areas of this city. Liked this one the best.

It's Good Enough
JJ Aug 4, 2009
The Fairfield was a decent, clean hotel that is close to restaurants and activities in Charleston. We were able to walk to ... the fantastic Taylor Street Bookstore, which not only has books, but also serves great coffee, light food, and has music. The health club in the hotel is small but nice, and the staff is friendly. All in all, a decent stay with an excellent location.

T Jul 23, 2009
The hotel was very clean and generally a nice place. The only problem that we had was there were a few people running up and ... down the hall way screaming in the middle of the night. That was ok though. The hotel was very easy to gfind and it was easy to get in and out of.

Fairfield Inn was very accomidating!
jp Jul 13, 2009
Visited Charleston for a business interview. Overall it seems a fairly quaint little city...'little' being the operative ... word. But it's fine for a short stay. The hotel was very accomidating: allowed me to check in early and to have an extended check-out since my interview was likely to, and did, go over the check-out time. Very friendly staff. Internet is free BUT it is only wireless, so be aware.

Not the best sleep
Vacationing with young kids Jun 10, 2009
The hotel was well located, clean and bright. The staff responded quickly and with friendliness. Our family loved the ... options available at the included breakfast. The major drawback has to do with the very very soft bedding and pillows. If you like any firmness in your bedding or pillows, then you will not sleep well. Otherwise, the room was very functional.

The Clay Center for Art and Sciences is very nice. If you have kids, or if you are a kid at heart, you will enjoy their exhibits. They have a planetarium where a staff teaches you how to find constellations at night. I would probably have enjoyed it more if there were no school kids making too much noise.

Rest--for real!
Jodie Nov 22, 2008
My grandson has to have multiple surgeries, and because we live 8 hours from Charleston, we have to drive there after we get ... off work, which makes for a very long, exhausting day. I called to verify our late check in---the lady on the phone was very helpful, polite--didn't act hurried or impatient...When we got to the hotel, everything was ready--and we were so tired. The beds were great, and when we got up, having the continental breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day. We didn't hear other people in their rooms---no vaccums running at 6am, and we were just a short drive from the hospital. It was a very good experience and I will definitely book here again!

Close to businesses
Pamela Jul 25, 2007
The Fairfield Inn in Charleston is centrally located in the business district. The beds are the memory foam beds and are of ... high quality. The rooms offer internet but the internet service kept going on and off, which was very aggravating. There was an outdoor pool and hot tub area. They both looked nice but I did not use those facilities. They have a large parking lot with night time security. This is definitely a plus for this area because parking is scarce and most places charge for parking. Check in and out were uncomplicated and quick.
