We had a shuttle waiting for us at the dock, as soon as our boat arrived, we were whisked by our very friendly driver to the ... hotel. When I arrived at the front desk, the attendant had everything ready for my check in. I signed a document, received my room keys, and the whole checkin process was completed in less than two minutes... this is not an exageration! The shuttle drivers are very accommodating and become a great asset to getting around the island. Although they never asked, I feltobligated to tip because they would do anything requested within reason. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the port, so although they have this shuttle, it is really a convenience and not a necessity. The front desk is very helpful and can make almost any accommodation for you. And if you forgot any toiletries behind, don't worry, they have you covered. If you go to this hotel, make sure you book a massage. It will make your experience so much more special. Words cannot describe. I don't have any real complaints about this hotel. If I had to be super critical, I would say this hotel is a little on the old side, but then most on Avalon seem that way. And despite the age, it is well maintained and priced appropriately. I feel I got a great deal for my money and had an overall excellent experience.

Everything is in walkiing distance and the trolley was a very inexpensive way of seeing the sights. One does not need to book a tour just buy the all day pass on the trolley and see everything that way.

Way over priced for condition. Small rooms, not as advertised. Not balonies or patios. Run down. Bathroom door wouldn't ... close. Door handle broken. Staff couldn't have cared less ... Maybe if it were the only room available on Catalina ... again ... but not worth $188 !!

The hotel was basically abandoned. The restaurant and bar were closed, only open weekends, and we were there on a weekday. ... The shuttle stops at 9:40 so if you like nightlife be prepared to walk up a very steep hill back to the hotel, something we chose not to do, so we were bored and turned in early. If you're in to nightlife, stay in town near everything.

This is defiantly a hotel I would stay in again. It was nice for the price and the staff was very friendly. Having the ... shuttle service was a plus and great to take a quick trip down to the beach or store. Because of the limited food available at the hotel it would have been nice to have a fridge / kitchenette. The bath and body works products were a nice surprise and the pool and jacuzzi were nice to use.

Take the hotel shuttle into town and you are dropped off at the airport shuttle stop. If you want to see the buffalo a good deal is to take a morning Airport shuttle for $25; it takes you on the inland road, you can eat at the airport and shop in the gift shop, and ask around to find out which trail you can walk down to see the amazing creatures. This is a lot less expensive than a tour. The nature center is also very fun and informative.

the hotel was really nice. Catalina is a small island, as Avalon is a small town. don't come here if you are looking for a 5 ... star resort. with that said. i will most certainly be back. the rooms are just fine, i didnt go there to spend my days and nights in the room. the pool was nice enough, because the beach is where its at. they served us drinks by the pool, which i didnt expect, but was awesome.

The hotel is a little ways away from the "downtown" area, but still walkable and they had a speedy shuttle that ran ... regularly. The pool/hot tub was great & the bartender & server were hilarious. The only problem was the fact that we could hear everything through the walls including the people having an all out war next door. We had to call the front desk on them 4 times because they were screaming at each other & throwing things at the walls around 1-2am. oh & we woke up at about 6am to the sound of all the birds in the courtyard even though our door & window were shut.

The Catalina Canyon Resort and Spa is a quiet place above the town if Avalon. It may be a bit of a hike from all the action, ... but their shuttle service ran regularly, and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get a ride downtown or back to the hotel. They provided two suitcase stands and a large closet as well as an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. Having a pool, spa, and lovely dining room allows you to have several choices if you want to spend some of your day away from the town. It's a very small distance to the local golf course as well.
