Great San Francisco location
Deb Nov 16, 2009
The hotel is located just a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf and public transit. In addition to great location, the hotel ... offered a free glass of wine from 5-6 in the afternoon in the hotel lobby which was a nice way to connect with other travelers and share experiences. We literally only slept in the hotel as we were out all day, but staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were many restaurants, both large and small, to choose from for every meal.

My husband took me to "wine country" to celebrate my birthday. We spent our last day in San Francisco. We got to the Tuscan ... @ 11:00 A.M. Check in was 4:00 P.M. The desk clerk could not find our reservation but gave us a room right away and called [...] to get things straightened out. The room was quite small but nicely decorated and very clean. We did request the garden side from other reviews that I had read. Very quiet. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The location was great. Spent time at the wharf and Alcatraz. We would stay there again.

There is a Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building on Sat. mornings great organic, local produce and some art & crafts. In addition, the building houses permanent stores where you can purchase olive oils, cheeses, wines, sausages, etc. made in California. Easily reached on the transit system, if you don't want to walk.

The hotel was right in the middle of it all. We walked to almost every location we were there to see. Room was a little ... tight. The staff was very friendly upon arrival, but a little too slow to helps out with our bags (they may have just been understaffed at that hour?)As with everything in SF the hotel meals were a little steep for what you got, and there really isn't anything close that is.

Location is okay. They provide no breakfast and their restaurant was not full at all for the both days we stayed there. I had ... booked a room with a queen size bed, but first night they put us in a room with lousy view and two twin bed! They could not change us and did not compensate us for the trouble.. (free breakfast at the restaurant where no ones goes anyway!) They changed us to a good room for the next day but I find that if someone pays for a room with one big bed, they should either give a room or give a break if they cant fulfill they end. They do not provide breakfast. Managers reception has wine, but I do not think its worth coming to that from 5 to 7 when you can do some sight seeing at that time in San Fran. [...] i would chose a hotel by the water if doing all over again.

Staff was very helpful. A pipe under our sink cracked, pouring water all over the bathroom. Maintence arrived within ... minutes of calling the front desk, and promptly fixed the problem/cleaned up the mess. Clean towels were quickly delivered without asking. Very conviently located to Fisherman's Wharf, just a short walk. The food was excellent at the cafe on site. The hallways, and room were spotlessly clean. Wine reception was fun, and well attended. We met folks from Europe and throughout the US.

Beware of the parking!
Retired guy Jul 31, 2009
In the AAA book and on Orbitz it shows that they have valet parking. Same on their own web site. What they don't tell you ... until AFTER you check in (before that the attendants will not talk to you) is that there is a $42.00 charge per night for parking. I had even called the hotel to get their rates and there was no mention of this $42.00 charge. We went back to the desk when told of the charge, and the first thing someone said was "you booked through Orbitz, right"? When we checked out we told them our thoughts of the parking fee...again we were told "you booked through Orbitz"? The young lady did finally remove the charges, but that really set a negative tone for the trip. Before booking a room there add $42.00 to the charge...you may decide to stay somewhere else!

Dave & Jean Jun 28, 2009
The wine tasting was a nice twist. For an hour you get to mingle with other guests share wine and stories. My wife and I ... really enjoyed that. The Concierge assisted us with trips to Alcatraz, Yosemite, Napa & Sonoma wine country as well as using public transportation. The bar was great and Seth the bartender can make any drink in the world.

The room was very nice, it looked like it had been updated recently. The location was great, just a short walk to the Wharf ... and Pier 39! The check-in process was easy and everyone was very helpful. The wine reception was well attended. You can catch the cable cars around the corner near a Starbucks where we had our morning pastry and coffee. Our room was on the street and more noisey than we care for but I'm sure they would have moved us if we had asked.

I husband and I came to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotel. It ... was so convient to everything: starbucks, safeway, trader joes, cable cars, fishermans wharf, and the f-line were all within easy reach, just to name a few.Room was clean and niced sized compared to some of the other hotels we looked at. Front desk and valet were very helpful and friendly. The first conceirage we had was not helpful and kinda rude but he was only there for one day.

This hotel is in a great location. It would have been nice to know that the hotel makes it mandatory for you to pay for valet ... everynight $42. This is kind of the standard I guess around San Francisco. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and our stay. Eat at Hollywood Cafe across the street and down a little very good food.

The hotel itself was ok. Staff were ok, just all around average. The best part is the location, especially if you plan on ... walking around Fisherman's Wharf. It is very close to everything, and has a Safeway around the corner for whatever you need. Parking, like everything in SF is ridiculous. Just over $100 including taxes for 3 days 2 nights. Seriously?! If youre looking for an OK motel, this is it.

You have to eat at the Fog City Diner. Fairly expensive, but extremely delicious and well worth the walk. Secondly, you have to have an Irish coffee at the Buena Vista. This is not far from the hotel, and its at the bottom of Hyde street where they turn the trolleys back around...well worth it!

The location is fantastic.Very clean. The entire staff was very helpful, especially the concierge, Ken. Next time I will deal ... directly with the Tuscan for booking tours, transportation, etc. at the same time we book our room.Ken even drew up a walking tour for our family. He made suggestions on where to eat in Chinatown, where the best sights were, he knew the transportation situation better than the bus and cable car personnel.
