I had to catch a plane early-7:30am. The hotel is only 10 min from the hotel and they have free shuttle service 7am-10pm. ... Great staff and nice rooms. The bed wasn't great but it did well enough for the price. I liked the kitchen!

We had a great time at the Hospitality Suites. The only glitch was a communication problem when I called in from the road ... for direction clarification on the way in. It was a mutual misunderstanding - but only set us back 5 minutes or so. We'd been traveling for 17 hours from Texas and were so tired - so it was great that the prepaid checkin was fast! We zipped to our requested "quiet room in the back" and unloaded the kids and all of our stuff and passed out. The beds were clean, soft, and comfy - I later found out the sofa bed wasn't as comfy but the teenager didn't complain. The hotel is located on Scottsdale road - just North of some adult businesses - but it didn't feel like a bad neighborhood. The area is well lit, clean, and very open on the streets and sidewalks. I felt safe walking with my baby on my own. It was 75 degrees the first day and lots of folks were perambulating in the morning. There are a lot of choices for food in the area. There are 2 grocery stores within a mile or so on the same road, restaurants across the street, fast food nearby, and JJ's cantina for the free breakfast. We grocery shopped and filled up the full size fridge. The hotel doesn't supply dishsoap or sponges because the maids will wash your dishes, but I bought some and did our own as we have a baby. We enjoyed the comp breakfast - and it was very good. Eggs, bacon/ham/or sausage, hashbrowns, toast, and coffee/milk/juice. Very filling and well cooked. Maid service was great - they kept the room very tidy and that's saying something with a toddler to keep up after ;) We had late starts out for the first few days - and the maids saw our 'do not disturb sign' and left us alone until after we left and yet they still managed to get our room tip top by the time we came back in the afternoon. We recommend visiting the Desert Botanical Gardens - gorgeous and just around the corner, Tempe Town lake- a 2 mile walking trail around it and really close as well, and the Riparian Park in Mesa off of Guadelupe and Val Vista - peaceful and lovely. We will certainly stay here again. My husband and kids all enjoyed our stay. Oh - the wireless was a fast and easy connection too. I have nothing but praise for the hotel and staff at the Hospitality Suites Resort in Scottsdale Az.

The Albertsons grocery store is about a mile or so north of the hotel on the same side of the street. Go and fill up your fridge with easy micro things, packable snacks, and drinks to save on the food costs for your family. Between that and the breakfast we only had one meal a day to eat out on.

this hotel is a little dated, not much looks like it has changed in years, however the wireless internet was fast enough to ... stream video. No bath tub (only shower) in my room, but the pool and hot tub more than made up for it. Cocktails in the evening were appreciated (not too weak). The room had a slight oder to it, and the wall were thin, but my neighbors were quite so it didnt matter much. I was able to leave my car here and catch a their airport shuttle to the airport. When i return i will have to take a cab to get my car. Overall cheaper than the parking grage.

Good value for the money
Al Pinto Dec 22, 2009
If you are looking for a "resort" style living, you'll be disappointed (but you must pay three times as much for a true ... "resort"). This is a more laid-back, middle-class, family style motel that offers good service, a decent American-style breakfast (eggs, hash-brown, sausage, and toast), and two free cocktails per guest in the evening (I'd recommend the Tequila Sunrise, if you can't stand the stronger Long Island Iced Tea). The reception staff was wonderful - we were traveling with a child for 3 nights, and they upgraded our room for free to a 1-bedroom suite with two queen beds, a separate living room, and a full-kitchen. The location is sort-of-iffy and the decor is somewhat dated. They offer airport transportation, but a car will be highly desirable for getting around. There are several other motels in the area, but this is the best value.

MISLEADING AVERAGE RATING ALERT!!!
Love being Mom Dec 9, 2009
Visiting family in Tempe, the hotel was very near their home, that was good. But when I told them where it was they said ... "I'm sorry". I was surprised by that because we'd read so many reviews that said the location was great. In proximity to ASU and major freeways, yes. But, there is a bar next door and even some strip clubs on the street. The hotel restaurant was sub-par. The cleaning and staff was just okay, the decor was out-of-date, and rooms have a "hotel-y" smell. I did feel safe there, even with little ones, and the beds were comfortable enough to sleep in. I gave a less than average rating because 4 1/2 stars (the average rating when I booked this hotel) was misleading.

My wife and I stayed for a week. If not prepaid, we would have left immediately after entering our room. It smelled musty. ... Friends who came to pick us up walked in and immediately walked out after saying that the place smelled badly. The hotel had placed an antique ozone machine in the room that made a racket. The shower leaked quite a bit of water, the HVAC was noisy, the cheap window allowed exterior noise to penetrate almost as if there was no glass and the room was small. [...]

All in all, a great stay. I love that the room has some kitchen facilities and the staff is always great every time I stay ... there. Spent a couple of hours in the hot tub one night and it looked like it could use a cleaning but not bad enough to make us get out.
