I read some bad reviews about this place so I was worried I and my wife were going to be unhappy there. But really if you are ... just looking for a base of operations and plan to be out and about then the hotel is fine. If you are looking for a hotel to be a part of your vacation via various amenities and personal service then you probably would be disappointed. For us the rooms were clean it was quiet and staff was helpful when I had a problem with parking. The toilets are very loud! It's best to be on the top floor so you don't hear people above you flushing.

South Coast Plaza - huge nearby mall. Can easily spend a day - and far too much money - in there. They have events at several stages (chorus, dancing, etc.), Bloomingdales, a toy store, Wolfgang Puck cafe, and most anything else you can think of.

it was a beautiful hotel on the exterior. WE loved the pool area! The service and staff were great, helpful and quite ... nice! It was the room itself, that we feel wasn't very clean. The floors/carpet seemed moist and dirty. The room also felt musky! We felt like we had to scrub the bathtub again with our own cleaning agents....

Susan Oct 12, 2009
We had booked that morning due to problems with the Hilton next door. First, a live person answered the phone and was ... incredibly helpful. Staff greeted us and were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, all rooms are smokefree. Bed was wonderful. I plan on writing a letter so the staff on hand while we stayed will be acknowledged for their attentiveness! They were great.

Good hotel, amazing staff, shuttle!
Mike Sep 20, 2009
Let me first start by saying this is a one-minute walk from the airport. With that said, it's unnecessary, as the staff will ... happily pick you up from the airport. Also, you absolutely won't hear a single thing from within the room. The staff will also shuttle you anywhere within a three mile radius on a moment's notice. I happily utilized this service to and from my work destination, In N Out, several bus stops, restaurants, a shopping mall, and so forth. Thus, there is no need to rent a car unless you plan on heading out to another city. With that said, you will have to navigate the bus system if you would like to head to the beach. The staff was undoubtedly the friendliest and most adept of any hotel I've stayed at. They quickly and effectively addressed any concern, gave tips on the area, and, as stated, shuttled me around endlessly. The room was well-kept, the bar was adequate, and the restaurant had great food - I highly recommend the cheap Kobe beef burger. The portions are also outstanding. The pool and adjacent lounge were relaxing and had a great atmosphere at night. Also, the hotel is a very short walk from a 24-hour IHOP. Unfortunately, the doors don't block much sound, so I was able to hear my neighbors more often than not. Thankfully, they were easily drowned out by the A/C unit, and they did manage to keep decent hours. However, if there were children in the adjacent room, I could imagine this becoming a problem. Also, my room (as are several others) was half-underground and faced the parking lot. While this did not directly affect my stay, it would have been nice to keep the curtains open. I was also woken by a truck once. Also, the wireless in my room was flat-out broken and I occasionally had trouble connecting elsewhere in the hotel. The maintenance was unable to fix it, as the internet is outsourced and I would have had to deal with a third party. The provided wire did work, but was very slow. It was suitable for my needs, but any large file transfer would be nearly impossible. Ultimately, I was very happy with my stay; I have no problem recommending it. I'll likely stay there again.

the hotel is beautiful....from the outside and in the Lobby, the area i stayed in was not updated and i had to request that ... the back door slider be fixed three diffrent times, it did not lock, it was NEVER repaired during my stay, check in that should have been easy, as there was just myself and another traveler at the desk took awhile as the person behind the desk was also manning the phones...check out was great!

Just another person Aug 15, 2009
Very good location and great price for the money. The lobby and pool area seemed to be recently updated and well-kept. ... However, the rooms could use a new renovation, especially the bathroom. Our telephone didn't work at all (no dial tone), but that wasn't a big deal for us since we use our cell phones anyways to make calls. Overall, a pleasant stay.
