Great staff but hotel is slipping.
Lawrence of Virginia Dec 5, 2009
You can't beat the staff at this hotel. They are friendly, outgoing and always willing to accommodate every request. I did ... have a few problems. The door to the room stuck and I was dismayed to find that the maid had not pulled it shut. Anyone could have entered the room and taken my belongings. They did not leave the usual complement of shampoo, soap, etc. I asked the maid and she responded immediately. I had a defective hair dryer...the edges of the output were all melted and it kept kicking the circuit breaker. They delivered a new one fairly quickly.

Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center is great. The Florida Aquarium is a real disappointment...too small and boring exhibits. Also, too expensive for such a meager facility.

Disappointing trip
Disappointed Dec 3, 2009
I was a bit disappointed with our stay at the Hyatt in downtown Tampa. I was traveling on business and I arrived very late ... at night after a long day of traveling. After we arrived and were given a room, I just wanted a good nights sleep; then our toilet starting making an extremely loud obnoxious noise. I called the front desk. They sent an engineer to look at it which took nearly twenty minutes. He came looked at it and corrected the problem 20 minutes later it started again. Called the front desk and asked for a new room. The desk staff said he would find a room and call me back in just one minute. Fifteen minutes later I call and ask what is going on and he said oh we are sending someone up with your new keys. I indicated that he neglected to call back; which under any other circumstances I would be fine with but this is 1am and I have to work at 6am. The valet was very nice and helped us to our new room. As I finally lay down in bed at one in the morning I look at the ceiling and see these large gross dark stains on the ceiling. I would expect to see these in a motel of some sort but not in the hyatt. I only stayed two nights; felt I was nickel and dimed to death with having to pay for internet, parking, etc. And with the series of unfortunate events the first night there was no effort from the staff to compensate. When I checked out the front desk person didn't even ask how my stay was, sad. I will not be returning to this hotel for my business trips.

Amazing view with a small bathroom
Landypoo Nov 30, 2009
In town for a romantic getaway. Found the hotel in a breath taking location. Hotel parking was $15/day, so instead used ... public parking (next door) for only $9/day. Check in staff were wonderful and we made it to our room with no problem. Spectacular view of downtown, spacious room w/ king bed, large relaxing chair, desk w/ergo chair, entertainment center w/ large LCD TV. The only thing we didn't like was the small bathroom, barely room for two people. Overall, stay was nice, would recommend if you don't mind a small bathroom.

Better Values Elsewhere
Grumpy Oct 12, 2009
The hotel is quite busy with large events and lobby area is not relaxing at all. Bar area is small. The breakfast buffet ... was meager, but not the prices, and wait staff was inattentive. Housekeeping failed to clean my room one day and when I called, there was a lame excuse. Towels were brought but no other "perk" was offered.

Nice Hotel, where are the people
Dr. Cuntstain O.B.G.Y.N. Sep 6, 2009
Great hotel for the money, but we felt like we had visited a ghost town. Aside from a few, and I mean a few corner spots to ... eat or drink. Basically we were a good mile and a half from any night life, and unless you enjoy long walks like us, you will need transportation. Rooms were neat, and did not show much wear at all. I slept great!

Hotel was very nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. Because it is in the business district, nothing nearby is open on the ... weekends. There is some decent nightlife about a 20 minute walk from the hotel, and there was good and reasonable transportation available from shuttle services to take you and pick you up where you wanted to go.

Good location in Downtown
Dave the rave. Jul 14, 2009
The Hyatt was a great place for our trip. We wanted a location in downtown Tampa as we didn't have a car and needed somewhere ... close to other amenities. It's just a 10 min walk to the main bus terminal, even closer to the local shops like CVS and a choice of local restaurants. Although it's important to note that the very close restaurants sometimes close early as the downtown can be extreamly quiet in the evening. The downtown trolley stops right outside and will take you a short distance to Channelside where there are an array of restaurants, bars, and a multiplex movie theater. The Hyatt staff were courteous, helpful and friendly although it was a little disappointing to discover that the maid had cleaned our room a little too efficiently, throwing away receipts, half drunk sodas, and snacks that were left on a bedside table. A helpful service offered at the Hyatt was the ability to store your luggage after checkout as we had an evening flight and didn't want to be tide to luggage for the day. A good experience and we would defiantly return.

The Hotel was very clean. First Rate. Room was spacious. Would stay again. The only down side about the hotel was they did ... not allow you to park your own car. Valet service only or you had to pay and park in city garage.Valet service was very expensive, $18.00 per night and took way too long to get your car after you called down ahead of time.

Stay at Hyatt Regency Tampa
Cliff Apr 22, 2009
We attended the St Pete Grand Prix. We arrived very early and notified the hotel that we were there, our car was in the ... garage, and that we would check in after the race festivities. They held the exact room we requested (last one) and everything went as planned. They have a Great general restaurant where we (four of us) had a wonderful, but pricy breakfast. Their main doorman is quite a character and reflects very well on the hotel. I think his name was Alberto! Overall a four star experience at the advertised price. Cliff Feightner

The Hyatt Regency in Tampa was very nice, the location in downtown Tampa was what I was looking for. I did not realize that ... there were not a lot of restaurants around the area. Their restaurant downstairs was very good. The room was very large with a desk area and a reading area. Bathroom was very nice, very sleek and modern.
