A shock and a pleasure
Bill T Sep 20, 2009
We were not told that the hotel was being remodeled. The rooms, however were brand new with new fixtures. Was not crazy about ... the colors of the new carpets. Kind of reminded me of Las Vegas. The pool was one of the best I have ever seen. It was filled with salt water and was just the right temp. After the initial shock of the remodeling and a room change, was extremely happy with the stay.

Average at best. No fridges in room, heard that you could pay extra to get a mini brought to you. Counter staff was very ... nice at check-in/check-out. But the "security" continually wandering the pool area to confiscate personal drinks and food, and pool toys was lo-class; it just screamed "we want to bilk you". ADDED NOTE TO HOTEL, Everyone at the pool that we talked to, or were in earshot of, said they would not come back based on the attittude at the pool alone. Resort fee added to room? I guess I missed where the resort was attached to the hotel.

Birthday Room Upgrade
Elwyn Oct 18, 2008
When checking in I mentioned to the check in staff that it was my birthday that day and he gave us a complimentary room ... upgrade with a better view of the pool and the mountain, highly appreciated. The front of the hotel is very impressive, you get the feeling that you have arrived at a nice resort. The big lobby is very nice, the pool area is very relaxing and has enough shaded areas for hotel guests like me and my wife who avoid the intense desert sun to prevent long-term skin damage, but the rooms, although clean, are showing their age. The location of the hotel is close enough to walk to numerous excellent restaurants and boutiques of Palm Springs.

nice stay, but
Charlene Sep 14, 2008
I went with some friends (girl weekend). After we spent the day at the pool the city shut down the water. We had reservations ... at a restaurant and could not shower. We felt we should have been given a discount or at least some drink comps, dinner or discount on the room would have been nice. But they did nothing. Nice hotel, everyone was friendly, but did not budge when it came to pleasing the customer.

A dated jewel
robert Feb 27, 2008
The Wyndham Palm Springs is a dated jewel. The check in procedure was very satisfying and we got an upgrade to a junior suite ... just by asking. The clerk was very nice. There was no bellman available, so I unloaded my car onto a cart. As I was parking my car, the bellman appeared. The carpet was held together with duct tape in many places. The door to the bathroom was peeling at the bottom. We went to sit in the jacuzzi. The towels were very thin and the chairs around the jacuzzi were dirty. Apparently it had rained and the dust had turned to mud and hadn't been cleaned. As we walked to dinner that night from the hotel, I noticed the pond at the enterance was not working. The staff was most accommodating and professional. There appeared to be a shortage of staff, as there were a lot of trays in the halls with remants from meals in the rooms. There was only one bellman for over 400 rooms. I cannot say I would recommend this hotel to friends, because of the information I have listed. The hotel is in a great location within easy wolking distance of the village of Palm Springs. There is a great deli, Sherman's just two blocks away that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at very reasonable prices. The casino is only three blocks away for those that enjoy gambling. They have a great upscale restraunt where we had dinner one evening. I highly recommend going to Palm Springs for a short get-a-way. There are lots of things to do and see. At the present time though, I cannot recommend staying at the Wyndham Palm Springs Hotel. Hopefully, they will spend some serious money to bring this gem back to where it should be.

Good location. Ok for the price
Samantha Feb 17, 2008
This hotel is ok, Nothing special. If you want to be close to downtown, this is a good location. I would give it a B-. I ... would stay there again. It is in walking distance to shopping and restaurants, so that works for me. Make sure you are not the type to require room service late at night. I wanted a glass of water at 12am and all the vending machines were not working (didn't dispense water, only soda) and the kitchen was closed. The water cost 1.25 but the vending machines only excepted 1.00. When I called for room service I was told that no one could help me because guest services were done for the day. I ended up drinking sink water from the bathroom. It was either that or I die of thirst. (Because I do not drink soda and juice, which was the other option in the vending)

Great vacation getaway
Kathi May 20, 2007
The Wyndham Hotel was a great place for a getaway. It is located 4 blocks from the main street in Palm Springs. The pool ... area is great. There is live music, cocktail waitresses, and food. The service was good. The room was acceptable. A little dated but clean. I would stay here again without a doubt.

Very Comfortable
RUTH Apr 29, 2007
The hotel was very nice. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The pool area is well maintained, they even have a separate ... kid's pool. The hotel was in walking distance to the casino and downtown. The restauants were great-indoor and outdoor. Service by the pool is always available, so you never have to leave the wonderful sunshine. I will stay there again in the near future.
