Disappointed
NY Couple Dec 10, 2009
For a newly opened hotel, there are problems that still need to be fixed that would hesitate me from recommending to others. ... We arrived 6 hours before check in and they still did not have a room for us for 3 hours after check in time without explanation. There is false advertising on the room categories...there are NO garden/tropical view rooms. ALL rooms have ocean view by the natural design of the hotel!!! Third, the rooms are already falling apart (we stayed in two different rooms during our stay, both with structual problems)... the sink has NO water pressure and the shower has VERY fluctuating water temps that scalded me on the first day! The design of the bathrooms provide absolutely NO privacy within the room with see through bathroom and shower doors...not for the shy!! The main pool is unheated and freezing until around 2-3pm while the baby pool (only 1-2 feet deep) is heated!! There are way too many kids on premise and the hotel is truly a family w/ children resort and not for lone couples or singles...it's way too noisy and all the pool chairs are reserved by 7am with kids and families (so don't wake up late after a long night of partying in cancun or you will be sitting on the sand on a towel with no lounge chair!!).For the good, they have a great entertainment night staff with circus show, hypnotist, live lounge style music (really good), fire show, mexican theme night and more...lots of fun at night. The food is good. The CoCo cafe has great selection of iced coffees and they even have a setup of fresh fruit by the pool during mid-day with plenty of open bars. Small in-room minifridge with no microwave. The hotel is only 15 min drive from aiport but would not use Grey line tranportation [...]as they did not know where the hotel was located and too then another 1 hour to get someone to take us there whiel we waited on the streets by the airport in Cancun! All in all, there are way better hotels in Riviera May and even better in Cancun!

Skip the water activity booth by the pool where they want to charge you high [proces for water ecursions, book prepaid excusrsions on oribtz or through the agents in the lobby or better yet, on the beach is free kayaking, snorkel gear and sailboating ( we had a blast with the sail boats)

Great beach, helpful and attentive staff. Best Cancun resort we have stayed at. In spite of one of our group becoming ill ... and requiring hospitalization the hotel refused to refund the unused nights on her room which were prepaid.

Food was excellent, along with service staff. Pools were very nice except the downfall is the number of parents who just turn ... their kids loose on the hotel in the pools and bars. Resort is kinda isolated so has the feeling of being on a compound. Nightclub leaves a lot to be desired.

Playa del Carmen nightlife without the chaos of Cancun.

Don't try the snorkeling trip from the hotel (Aquaworld 3rd party company) . They charged us 45$ for a 30 min ride. What a mockery. Instead try the offers by the hotel beach. They offered a 2 h trip for 25$

We had a great time at Dreams Riviera. The staff was really nice and hard working. Please show appreciation for this. The ... rooms clean and romantic. This resort should have had 5 stars. Great dining choices.
