We visit our Daughter, Son in law, and Grandkids in Malden, which is only about 20 minutes away from where the Motel is ... located. Our Grandson is always so excited because he knows he can come back to the Motel with us to spend the night. He loves the breakfast buffet at the Motel. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. We will stay there again when we come back to see them in the Spring.

Disappointing for a Sheraton
World Traveller Nov 30, 2009
Having stayed at Sheraton hotels in the past, we had high expectations for quality. Unfortunately this hotel is older and ... has been renovated, and it just didn't live up to the Sheraton name. The lobby and lounge were very nice, and the business center area was well equipped. Our problems were with the room. The bed was like a slab of marble, the pillows were small and there were too few of them, and the walls were very thin. We could hear the ice machine on the other side of one of our walls and someone coughing through the night on the other. Needless to say our nights weren't very restful! We also had a problem with our toilet...it was clogged when we got there and it took three visits from maintenance to fix it, which further added to our negative experience. We would not stay at this hotel again.

Salem over Halloween is wonderful! It's packed with people having a great time, so be prepared for high population in a small space. It is a 10 minute drive from the hotel, if there is no traffic, which is never. It can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes to get to or from Salem in the traffic at this time of year. My suggestion is to avoid the rental car and take cabs. The hotel has a shuttle to Boston Logan, then one cab in the morning to Salem and another at night to get you back will cost about 60 dollars, but you don't have to worry about parking (which is a nightmare!) And cab drivers know all the back roads and short cuts to avoid traffic.

Great Halloween Vacation Spot!
Miranda Nov 3, 2009
We stayed in this hotel because of it's proximity to Salem MA over Halloween. We were pleasantly surprised by the laid back ... atmosphere and "can do" attitude of the staff. The Room Service and Restaurant are wonderful and well priced. Try the Margarita Pizza, its great! There were great amenities on site, like a great cozy bar, an internet cafe and spacious sitting areas for conversation or board games with the family. The hotel is easy to find and has great access to highways to get you where you want to go.

Great price & proximity to Salem
Jen Nov 2, 2009
My boyfriend and I stayed for Halloween weekend and made the drive to Salem each day. The hotel provided great directions to ... downtown Salem to avoid hectic traffic and the accommodations were more than we expected for the great price that we paid. The only complaint that we had was that we thought that the hotel bartender on Saturday night acted as if she was inconvenienced by the patrons of the bar. We would have stayed and had more than one drink, but we decided that it wasn't worth our time. So we went back to our comfy room!

Comfortable and Convenient

I thought the hotel was great. It was clean and very comfortable and close to both the airport and Salem, which is where I ... was traveling between. I loved all the measures the hotel has taken to "go green" and the hotel lobby was beautiful. My only complaint really is that breakfast for two cost $32, not even including the tip!!

Good but not great for a long stay
Clammy Oct 8, 2009
Ok. This hotel is Nice. The rooms are clean and comfy with updated decor. They didn't do a "cheesy" remodel either. They ... did it right. The front entrance has a fireplace sitting area on each side. The chairs are comfortable oversized leather and the whole area is clean. The staff is very East Coast with knowledge of their job and fantastic efficiency. Love this!! Did not have any books, or brochures in the room which made it a little difficult to find out anything about the hotel and its amenities. Also would be nice to have local information like restaurants, who delivers, where is the closest laundry mat, where is Dunkin Donuts...that kind of thing. The beds were very small. So if you are used to sharing a queen bed or like us, a king bed, double think your choice. These beds are small and your on vacation!! Come on Sheraton...we need more space! Would have had a much better time with larger beds so I could have been better rested! But, overall, I did like this hotel!

Steve Jun 1, 2009
I was there to visit my children and they all live within easy driving distance from the hotel. So the location was ideal, ... i.e., close to I95, I93 and the airport. The room was fairly clean (fairly because I noticed various little things on the floor in corners that previous visitors must have left, and places where the construction crew failed to scrape off putty and paint from the recent remodel. But those were very minor. I'd be delighted to stay again.

The hotel was very nice, most of the staff was pleasant. They recently experienced layoffs and claimed they could not provide ... the shuttle to the train station, the only way to get to Boston if you did not want to pay for a cab every time. I was there for the Boston marathon and relied on the information on the website. The fitness center is awesome. Liked the computers. Rooms were clean and had everything I needed.

Nice stay
Catherine Dec 31, 2008
Traveling with two adults and two teenagers- We just stayed for a single night, but it was a good evening. Lovely room ... accommodations, friendly staff, very nice restaurant, and although we had to walk across a parking lot in the snow to reach the pool and fitness center, it was still a good stay. With Boston traffic being what it is, it took longer to get to the hotel from downtown than I thought it would, but hey, that's Boston traffic for you. The mattress & pillow were very comfortable, and the room was very quiet - I normally have a difficult time falling asleep in strange places, but I slept like a baby.

OK Stay
Jared Dec 26, 2008
This was only an OK stay. I have been to the Colonial in the past, and it was much nicer before the renovations. Now, in ... order to get heat, you must insert your key card into a slot near the light switch. When you leave your room, you take the key, and electricity and heat is gone. While this is a very good green idea, it takes a while for your room to heat up when you get in. Who wants to check in to a room and be freezing for the first two to three hours. Then, when you go out, you come back to a freezing room again.
