Its small Hotel but very clean and staffs are nice. Its near the suyway station(2-3min walk) so I was able to take a subway ... to Colosseum or many other important locations and it just takes few minutes.

Excellent value in Rome

We were in Rome for just one afternoon/night and wanted something near the Termini train station so we could drop our bags ... and head out on the town. Des Artistes was just a 5 minute walk from the Termini, and from there we were able to walk to Trevi Fountain, etc., in the center of Rome. After hours on boats and trains we were happy to do some walking. Des Artistes was priced right compared to other hotels. We got a room with a private bath -- if you don't care about that you can probably get an even better bargain. Room was clean and nice, bathroom was modern, nice, shower (no bath) had plenty of hot water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. We arrived early and the room was not quite ready so they sent in 3 maids and had it ready in 5 minutes. Wireless internet was 1 euro for an hour, or you can buy larger blocks of time. They arranged a cab for us to go to the airport in the morning, for a flat 40 Euros, and the cab was right on time, nice car with a friendly driver. There is a somewhat noisy bar across the street but even with the window open it didn't really bother us, just part of the atmosphere. Of course we were so tired we could have slept through an earthquake. Can't comment on heat/ac, as the weather was perfect when we were there (Sept) and we didn't need anything. The room we were in was in a separate building from the main one with the lobby (just next door) but it had card key entry and seemed quite secure. The price includes breakfast but it doesn't start till 7:30 and we left before that so missed out on it. If you want nice clean basics and like the location, Des Artistes is a good value.

Aside from the many restaurants in central Rome, just across the river on the "left bank" Trastevere area, there is a very fun and funky shopping/dining area, with literally dozens of restaurants within just a few blocks area. It's not near the hotel by any means, but if you are fairly intrepid it is walkable; otherwise you can take a cab over there. Nice alternative to the usual tourist places in the center.
