The hotel was five long blocks from the subway station in a not so great neighborhood that had no options for meals. The room ... was small, and there was an allergic reaction believed to be from mold in the room. The jacuzzi tub did not work nor did the clock radio.

Sneaking in close to Manhattan for cheap
Ryan Nov 4, 2009
I stayed at this hotel while in New York City for a weekend to cheer on a friend running the New York Marathon. It was ... actually very close to the course for 2009 (within 3-4 blocks). As others have mentioned, it's in a bit of a "bad" neighborhood, though I had no issues both nights taking the subway back around midnight and walking alone from the Queensboro Plaza station to the hotel (your mileage may vary). Seemed like a generally quiet street. It's 3 blocks from one subway line, and 5 from another, that will both take you straight into midtown Manhattan in just a few stops, toward the Grand Central Station/Times Square area. (7 and N/W). It's also not far from La Guardia. Taxi ride from the airport to the hotel was around $13 before tip. The room was small, but clean and modern with a very comfortable bed. The free breakfast was also nice, though tended to be crowded and the options were pretty simple. All things considered, I'd say it's a great value.

Don't Book It Based on Price Alone!
K & M...S Sep 28, 2009
We were in town for a friend's wedding and decided to book this hotel because we couldn't get into Manhattan for less than ... $300/night. This hotel was still pricey, all things considered but we booked it to save in comparison to other local hotels. It's about a 4 block walk to the subway, which I didn't feel comfortable walking at night, even with my husband. The elevator sucked (it never came when you pressed the button) and the keys to the door constantly stopped working. It really is a mediocre hotel, mostly to accommodate foreign travelers and students, I think. In retrospect, I would rather have paid the extra money to get a hotel in the city. Getting into the city, however, wasn't too difficult. You just take the 7 train to grand central or time square and transfer, if needed. It took about ten minutes on the train to get into the city. Okay hotel, but not for you if you're looking for something impressive and in a great location. Rooms were clean, air conditioning worked well, and beds were pretty comfortable.

the staff were friendly and the room was clean and nice. however the hotel was in a bad area and there was nowhere to park ... our car at the hotel we had to walk 3 blocks with all our luggage and 2yr old son to the hotel after finding a car park, and for this reason we would not recommend the hotel.

PROs and CONs here foks!
World Traveler Aug 23, 2009
PROs: Half the price of Manhattan and very close to City. 5 Blocks to the Subway. 4 Blocks to parking garage ($15 a ... night). Clean and new Hotel. Free continental breakfast. Good secure bldg, 24hr desk person with camera's everywhere. Views of Manhattan skyline if you're in the rear of the building. CONs: Not in Manhattan. Nothing going on near Hotel (i.e.restaurants, movies, etc). Not the greatest neighborhood but safe enough to walk to the store at night (small grocery store at gas station is the one I recommend). Hotel gets a lot of foreign tourists from Europe due to the mere $80 a night price (not really a con but thought I would mention it). Due to Hotel being built like a prefab it has a strong plastic, chemical smell in the rooms. No worries cause it goes away after 30 mins once you get acclimated with it..haha I usually stay in Manhattan and pay the $250 a night, however I wanted to experience this one. I would stay here again. Take care!

Would stay again...
Melski Aug 4, 2009
This hotel was in a quiet neighbourhood/industrial area. If you want to be close to the city, you may not want to stay ... here. My husband and I enjoyed it and didn't at all mind the subway ride (closest stop @ 39th St. is only 5 blocks from hotel) into the city. The staff allowed us to check in 3 hours early based on when we arrived after a morning flight - we had a Manhattan City view (recommended). The room was spotless and cleaned well each day. Breakfast was adequate. Overall...we had an excellent stay; great price for location and hotel type.

Ramada Long Island
B. J. Jul 19, 2009
For the price, this was an excellent hotel. The location was very good if you plan on using the subway system to get around ... New York. There was only a two block walk from the hotel to the subway station. The staff was marginal, they were not unfriendly, but they could have been more helpful. Also, my wakeup call came 15 minutes late. The breakfast was decent, although the juice machine seem to not work the entire time (it just poured water). One thing that I did notice, was that a lot of hotels in the area, including this one had walk in rates that were as cheap as, or cheaper than anything I could find online. All in all, I am pleased with the hotel that I got for my money.
