Hotel was spotless, perfectly located, and service was very hospitable. But it is an old hotel and the air conditioning in ... the room never rose above 63 degrees regardless of how it was set. I called the hotel and they simply said it was an old hotel and advised I turn it off and on in order to regulate the temperature. We would never go back to that hotel an felt we got robbed given what we paid.

Insulting
KM Aug 24, 2009
We reserved 2 rooms. Rooms were small. The toilet did not flush. I reported the problem but nobody came. The stopper in the ... bathtub was broken. I did not bother to report it until departure, just used the shower. The cable did not work if the closet door was open. We were not warned about it and had to call front desk and get a repair person come. The bill included a price of a non-existent drink in a lounge. An employee tried to convince us that one of us must have had a drink despite our assurance that we did not, which was insulting. Before we used the valet service, I asked the valet how long past check out time we can leave the car there. The answer was, "Until 4 pm." Next day, the other valet told us that we must remove car by 2pm or pay $12 late fee, which forced us to change our plans for the day. When I told the new valet that we were told we can keep it till 4, he accused me of lying, which was insulting. We had to wait 40 minutes for the car. I paid considerable amount just to get insulted.

Overall Good Experience
Brian Aug 4, 2008
The hotel is beautiful. Looks like a castle and is very elegant on the inside with Crystal Chandeliers. The room was on the ... smaller side as if you were staying in the guest room in a mansion but was very elegant looking with very detailed accents. The food options in the hotel are quite expensive but the food is top notch. The only issue we had with the room and this seems to be every hotel is the extra soft bed and pillows. The pillows were paper thin and after a few days in the bed our backs were aching. The location is top notch. You can walk the entire city of Boston and this hotel puts you right in the center of it all. You can easily walk to Fenway, the aquarium, the public garden and the common.

Elegant stay at the Fairmont Copley Plaza
Daniel Jul 5, 2008
The Fairmont Copley Plaza was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and efficient. This is a lovely older hotel with lots of ... history (it is also a sister to the Plaza in NYC). The room was not huge but was large enought for my husband, myself and our 7-year old daughter. There was a nice closet with a safe and a shelf as well as drawers in the entertainment center armoire. The bathroom was small but lovely with beautiful gray marble throughout. The first night, my daughter and I ordered room service which was very fast, food was hot and they picked up the table in a timely manner after I called fro pick-up. The Fairmont Copley gives good, old-fashioned service and I really enjoyed that. I am sure that I was in one of the smaller rooms, but I was treated like royalty. The neighborhood was great and easily navigable. There is a T stop across the street and Trinity Church, Copley Plaza and lots of shopping is nearby.

Not quite up to the standards I expect from Fairmont
John May 27, 2008
I stayed on the Fairmont Gold floor, which is a hotel within the hotel. I had to move rooms three times durring my stay, ... which was unaceptable: however, they did compensate me with a free dinner in the Oak Room, but I would have rather paid for my own dinner, and not had to pack and unpack three times during my short stay. In addition, this was a very special occaision which is why I selected the Gold/Concierge floor, as I had some special, but relatively simple, things I wanted done before I arrived. I had ordered four boquets of flowers, a gift basket, and a bottle of Dom Perignon. I requested that these items be place in my room and set up nicely before I arrived. It was not done, and it took me several phone calls to staff in order to get it done. It was really a dissapointing experience. The last problem I had was one evening at about 5 PM, I handed the car keys to the Valet, and told him my name and my room number. Apparantly the Valet forgot who had given him the keys, and they left my car on the curb for 24 hours. The staff finally tracked the car to my room and called to verify that the car was mine. I said yes it is, and I need to use it now, when I went down to use the car one of the tires were flat. It just seemed that the level of service I have come to expect from Fairmont Hotels was not there at the Boston location.
