--vaughnka, PA Oct 19, 2009
We had lunch one afternoon at the GUADALAJARA CANTINA on 19th Street between Atlantic and Pacific. It was not a good experience. Everything we ordered tasted processed and mushy. Also, we all felt the food was overpriced for the poor quality, particularly the quesadillas. The staff was friendly enough, but we just didn't feel that the food was tasty or that it was a good value. On the other end of the spectrum, we had pizza one night at GIOVANNI'S on Atlantic and 20th. We only had cheese and pepperoni pizzas, but they were delicious. Lots of cheese, delicious buttery crust and very large. We fed four adults and five kids with two large pizzas. The restaurant added a gratuity to the check (but this was no surprise, there are signs stating this policy posted prominently) and the whole bill with a pitcher of beer was less than $45. Great deal, good pizza, thumbs up!

Rob, ChallengerForumZ - Oceana Meet Up Oct 19, 2009
Was only in town for the night, check in and check out took all of 30 seconds to complete, and the staff at the desk were ... very friendly. It was nothing special, but it was clean and tidy, plus the location was great. Small parking lot though, so just hope you're able to grab one of their spots! For the price, I would certainly stay there again.

Seagull Hotel
jrizz Oct 11, 2009
We checked into the Seagull on a Friday afternoon and checked out VERY early Sunday morning. The location of the hotel is the ... best thing about it. The hotel is right on the beach and boardwalk, in the center of all the shopping, restaurants and attractions of VA Beach. The things we liked about the hotel (other than the location) were the fluffy pillows, the coffee maker in the room, plenty of towels, and the friendly front desk staff. The rooms are modestly furnished with standard budget motel accommodations. The rooms do not have private balconies, but there are two patio chairs on the breezeway outside of each room. It was nice to sit outside in the sun and ocean breeze and we even got to meet some of the other guests that way. We had to check out around 3:30 in the morning in order to catch a very early flight, and I was happy to see that the front desk was staffed even at that early/late hour. The only drawback to this hotel is the small on-site parking lot. There is an overflow lot about 1 and 1/2 blocks away, which is really pretty convenient considering the very limited public parking available throughout Virginia Beach. We were able to walk nearly everywhere we went from the hotel. All in all, the amenities of the hotel are not overly impressive, but everything was clean, convenient and friendly. That combined with the great location and low price made the Seagull a great fit for us.

The location was centrally located on the boardwalk with Surry and bikes rentals on location. The staff was very ... accommodating and friendly. On the fourth floor the view from the balcony is only towards the north side of the boardwalk unless you go to the west end of the balcony at which point you can see both towards the north and south. The only problem with this is that there is only room for two people. You do not have this option from the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor; the view is only towards the north. The onsite restaurant menu had quite a variety and with reasonable prices. Parking was limited to 16 spaces with three of those being reserved as handicap. The offside parking is a short one and half block away. The elevator was a bit slow and at times it did not move at all due to the door did not seem to close completely. This was during off season so for the off seasons price it was okay and would stay again. The rooms were clean and well maintain. There was a two burner stove, small refrigerator microwave oven and coffer maker with essentials all tucked in a small space at the back end of the room. The bathroom was quick big in comparison to overall size to the room. Iron and ironing board were provided in each room. Price for the bike rentals was negotiable. The first day I had a problem with the Surry but I brought it back and they extended the rental time by one hour which I did not used. The next day I rented two bikes and due to the issue from the previous day they only charge me for one bike instead of the two did we rented. Very friendly staff.

hotel was nice, clean, large room. our major complaint was the parking. there is only space for a few cars, its first come ... first to park. when the lot is full you have to go two blocks down the street to paRK. YOU DON'T KNOW when the lot is full till you pull in between the arches, once you are in you can not turn around you have to back up onto the busy street. at one time we had our car plus 3 others trying to get in and out.

Disappointed Sep 21, 2009
Did not clean the room or bring clean towels. View was beautiful from balcony of the beach. Refrigerator in room was wine ... fridge so ddn't keep other things cold enough. Bed felt like sleeping on floor, very hard with no support, pillows were like rocks - very uncomfortable. Pool/hot tub room was scalding hot air with no air circulation. Shower and bath tub had no water pressure, water trickled out and pipes made loud screeching noise the whole time they were on.

Super Dad Sep 15, 2009
Overall I would say it was an average stay. My family and I had a good time, and we had good weather. This was a good ... location and convenient to everything. We had problems with the 2nd room key not working in the door, so we could not split up until we got that corrected. So we spent some time without a 2nd key until they could make one for us. No hair dryer in bathroom. The secondary parking lot is about a block away, so we had to park there, the main parking lot is alway full, it only holds approx. 16 cars.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sea Gull Motel. The location was excellent and all rooms were ocean view which was a ... concern for us. There was an indoor pool at a good temperature, meaning not too hot, and also a hot tub to relax in. If you didn't like the sandy beach to lay on you had the option of a sun deck that the Sea Gull provided with comfy chaise lounges and tables if you chose to eat there. The room also came equipped with a bar fridge which kept our water and pop cold as well as cold cuts we had purchased to save on some meals. Everything was within walking distance and we had an enjoyable relaxing stay which is what we had come for. Yes, I would recommend this motel and we would stay there again.
