DO NOT STAY AT THE ARIA, NOT WORTH IT
SAN DIEGO EXECUTIVE Feb 3, 2010
I booked for a king bed or 2 queens for my stay. I was traveling on business with my wife. I requested to receive a KING bed. ... The initial clerk told me none were available, being that it was so late. Mind you, I checked in at 5:45 pm, check in does not begin until 4:00 pm. After being placed in two queens, I was further horrified. The room still had a spray cleaner bottle in the room. This was awful.I called downstairs and was reassured by another clerk that there was in fact King beds available. I was finally placed in the correct room. However, to my dismay, I was charged not once, not twice, but three times for my room, even after not incurring any charges any addition to booking [...]. I received 2 authorizations and a charge for $200 some charges. When I attempted to contact Aria via their website link, this link is UNAVAILABLE. It does not show. This is very suspicious.I will be contacting management by phone and I would advise that you stay at the Trump or any other nice resort. The Aria is similar to a knock off Planet Hollywood. The room is just okay, similar to any W or modern Hilton you can find. Nothing spectacular. Hotel construction is still not complete. It leaves much to be desired.

If you have problems, ask for [...] at the front desk, she can get your problems sorted out and turn a bad experience into a ... good one (the Good). Unfortunatly, the resort is still in its "shakedown cruise" mode- housekeeping is good some days and bad others, the conceirge closes at 9:00 PM, the front desk can be unorgainzed and the room locks and automation can be frustrating(the Bad). The building is spectacular- the design and materials are top of the line (the beautiful). Avoid rooms on the third floor at all cost- it is at roof level and there are maintenance/construction personal walking around both early and late. Also the mechanical screens in some areas mean your only view is a roof drain (I actually had that room for the first few days- fortunately they move me after complaining about loud neighbors). The attached shopping area is only half full.

Hotel is very big and off the strip, so be ready to walk. Parking for shuttles and buses in the lower level, be prepared when ... they will drop you from airport, just use escalator around the corner. Use bell boy desk for any activities or shows you are interesting, best prices. Concierge desk is very helpful. Would not recommend the Aria hotel to anyone going to Vegas. New hotel. Checked into room and no lights worked. Called ... front desk and they stated it would take forever to get maintainence up so they switched rooms. Electronic entry. Told us that electronic keys were changed to new room. Took all luggage down from 50th floor to 8th floor. Electronic key did not work. Went down to front desk. Reprogram keys. Went back up to 8th floor. New keys didn't work. Went back to front desk. Changed rooms again from 8th floor to 23rd floor. Finally got settled into rooms. Seems I would have gooten some comp, but nothing. Food expensive. Ate at buffet first night and bill was $60.00. Ate Sunday morning breakfast and bill was $50.00. Not good selection. Hotel halls and casino were to hot. If going back to Vegas stay at Mirage, Mandaylay, Bellegio, MGM, or somewhere else. If the Aria is going to make it, they will need to make lots of improvements.

Don't waste your money
Not to be trifled with Jan 22, 2010
One word effectively sums it up, "WOW." Sadly, it's really, "Wow that's bad." I can't believe they are rated a five-star. ... I have honestly stayed in three-star establishments, including ones in Europe that would really rate a two in American stars, that were better.1. The room automation was deplorable. Everything was tied together and accessed through a small video screen next to the bed. Neither my wife nor I could figure it out. You'd press one thing, thinking it would turn on certain lights, and the curtain would open or close. I honestly had to call the front desk to ask them to explain how to disable all of its functions, so I could just turn lights on and off the old-fashioned way: with a switch. You would think they would explain some of it when you check in, but nothing of the sort was done. It took three hours of frustration before I called down and was told how to turn things on at the master switch at the entrance.2. The Internet access fee is absolutely ghastly. I explained both my wife and I brought computers as we each have certain e-mail and business accounts we needed to attend to. We were told we would have to pay $15 per day, per computer. We don't have Internet-based businesses, i.e. we weren't looking to soak up 24-hours of Internet on two computers, just be able to each access the Internet on our own computers. In fact, we spent perhaps nine hours on the Internet between both of us the entire three days. That works out to $10 per hour for Internet. Management did finally adjust one-user's worth of Internet off of our bill. But I shouldn't even have had to ask.3. The rooms weren't laid out well. They boast 588 sq. ft. rooms, but the usage of the space made it seem smaller. I've stayed in 300 sq. ft. rooms that seemed bigger.4. The buffet was horrible. Las Vegas is home to the all-you-can-eat buffet. I like them and I don't mind paying good money for them. But for the money I spent, it was seriously lacking. The layout and buffet line had all the coziness and ambience of my old college cafeteria. The food was a complete miss. I've eaten better food in Army chow halls. It truly reminded me of the Huey Lewis song, "Bad is Bad." "The sign said 'All you can eat, just a $1.99,' but one-dollar's worth was all that I could stand."5. The pool and hot tub areas were not open yet. Really? You're going to open a five-star hotel a month-and-a-half earlier and not make sure the pool and hot tubs are ready?6. The view was horrible. From my eight-floor room I could see a construction site and a monorail.7. The cleaning staff would have been fired already in any other hotel. If you're going to clean a room, wouldn't you expect to change the glassware, vacuum the carpet, etc? Neither were done. Trash was not even emptied. I can only imagine what other corners were cut and what was still dirty underneath. The bathroom had permanent stains on the floor (after just a month-and-a-half?). No turn-down service was done, even though we asked for it. They did, however, make sure to come around every day to service the in-room bar we never used. Meaning, they made sure to come around every day to see if there was anything they could charge us for.8. Bedding left a lot to be desired. Due to certain skeletal difficulties, both my wife and I need fairly firm, non-feather pillows of decent size. One would think you could get that in a five-star hotel, but after asking three times and being delivered pillows that were just like the ones in the room originally, we finally gave up the last night. We are still trying to remove the soreness and kinks in our backs.Overall, the experience was so bad, I asked the hotel manager to move me to one of their sister properties. Due to it being booked through [...], they wouldn't refund any money and I would have had to pony up more money and see if [...] would refund me later. Please, please, PLEASE save your money. DO NOT stay here.

This hotel has only been open about a month, and so everything was brand new in look and feel. Prices are a little high, but ... not outrageous. The bed itself is enough to keep us going back here! The casino is very nice, with a variety of machines. Nice sports bar. The SPA was incredible! You have to go get a massage or facial and experience the entire spa! This Aria is center stip, located right between Monte Carlo and Bellagio. A great place to begin a walk of the strip! The only bad thing I can say at all is that the walk to our room from the elevator was a little long because hotel is so big! We were the last room!

The room was very nice (great towels!) and automatic drapes and tv. Music was a little loud for my taste. We usually stay at ... the Bellegio (which I prefer) but my 19 year old loved Aria (especially the music!) We ate at the hotel several times and the food was good and plentiful. Seems like there were more people partying heavily than at Bellegio. Get your coffee elsewhere - the lines were confusing and obnoxiously long. There is a McDonalds across the street.
