Fantastic! I will stay @ the Wit again

Loved Chicago Nov 29, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Stayed at The Wit for three nights because my family and I were attending a wedding. Wonderful place to stay. Great location ... on State Avenue. The Macy's is one block from the hotel & Michigan Avenue is two blocks away. Easy to get to from O'hare. Just take the blue line train exit Clark/Lake. The rooms were spacious for 3 people. Loved the shower! We also rented a car for the day of the wedding and the Enterprise is two blocks away. Everything is located close to the hotel. I can't say enough about this hotel. Also, the restaurants at hotel are delicious!! Definitely would recommend this hotel!Great price

Nice newer downtown hotel

Janet Sep 23, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Staff not very friendly at check-in. Maybe it was at the end of her shift and she was ready to leave. She did stop to get us ... checked in with a bit of a sigh. No Pool! Never made it to rooftop lounge. We walked everywhere. The walk to Shedd Aquarium was a bit of a walk but very refreshing and the gardens on the way were beautiful. The beds in the room were wonderful. Sooo comfortable. We heard many sirens during the night but that is to be expected in a big city. Parking is outrageous in Chicago. Hotel parking was $45.00 per day. We payed for self parking at $30.00 per day but we had no plans of taking the car out of the garage during our stay. The hotel parking was more but you would be able to take the car in and out for the $45.00. Overall we had great time and the room was very comfortable. One of the less expensive hotels in the downtown Chicago area. Our first room had a water leak from the ceiling but we were put into a comparable room within a reasonable time. Nice hotel for the price. I would definately stay there again. Thedesk clerk was not very friendly at check-in but it got better afterward. NO phone book in our room. I thought that was odd.

Great Stay - The Wit is a Hit!

Chris R. Aug 23, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Wit is one of the hottest spots in the loop. It's centrally located and architecturally unique. However the common ... areas are very busy. But, if you are looking for chic environment with hip 30 something's floating in/out (primarily for the ROOFTOP Bar) - then this is the place. The staff is friendly /accommodating, the rooms are boutique and the roof is a nightlife A+. Even though the crowd gets thick until the clubs and restaurants close, the guest room floors were very quiet. We stayed in the King Suite, which was pretty cool - I really enjoyed the modern amenities, such as the flat screens, smart phones, and the spa-styled bathroom. I would definitely stay again for leisure.

The Wit... What a disapointment!

Crafty7630 Jul 24, 2009

We went to The Wit thinking that it was supposed to be a nice hotel.Wow we couldn't have been more wrong! 1.The Wit put us ... in the wrong room. 2.When we told them it was the wrong room they really didnt seem to care very much. 3.Our bathroom lights did not work. 4.The bathtub leaked all over the floor so we had a nice wet floor even in our room for the whole weekend. 5.The closet doors were jammed shut so you couldn't open them. 6.When we arrived at The Wit we had to wait an extra 30 min for our room, and then when we finally got to it there was still a dirty room service tray sitting outside our door. 7.And after paying 45 dollars a night for parking there is a ridiculous 10 dollar "in and out fee" 8. THE STAFF IS VERY UNFRIENDLY!!!!!!! They only care about you if your going to their night club on the roof. 9.The train is also located right next to The Wit that you get to hear it go by every 10 minutes all through the night. 10.If you book through Orbitz the hotel treats you even more like you don't matter because your not their customer, you're an Orbitz customer. If you wanna go to Chicago and have a good time DO NOT STAY at THE WIT!

Chicago Weekend Getaway

Joe Dizzle Jul 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Wit hotel is a very nice property, but the staff was unfriendly and seemed to cater to the people who were only coming to ... the ROOF which is their 27th floor roof club, instead of the patrons actually having ROOMS at the hotel. We were promised refrigeration for our food, and warming. But when we got ready to warm our food, we were told that there was not a single microwave on the property and that room service couldn't help us warm our food after it had been in THEIR refrigerator.

Never go again

unhappy Jun 16, 2009

I booked though Orbitz.com for a one night stay arriving 06/12/09 staying for one night. The rate I was charged was $148.89 ... (including tax), which I paid prior to arriving. Upon arriving I realized that I booked a king bed and wanted two doubles. They stated that they would move me but that the charge would be $20 extra, which I agreed to pay. The next morning I received a bill for $22.98, which was fine. I now am looking at my bank statement and the following is what I have been charged $22.98 + $22.98 +$90.00. I contacted the hotel directly on 06/15/09, spoke with a a supervisor. He agreed this was incorrect and that he would fix and call me back. I of course never heard back so I sent emails to three of the management staff and still no resolution. I contacted the hotel again today at 9am and the phone rang for 5 minutes, no answer.

One night Chicago Getaway

Go USA Jun 8, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The staff at the hotel was absolutely great. There was somebody there to help you every step of the way from stepping out of ... our car at the valet service to getting on the elevator up to our room. Every bit of information regarding the hotel and it's amenities is provided before you even have a chance to ask. A simple question as to how to best get to one of the local stadiums from the hotel was answered within the time we checked in and got up to our room. It concluded with a phone call from the gentleman at the front desk himself, giving us all of the information we asked for. The room was very quiet, clean, and the perfect size for two travelers. The only two inconsistencies were that they play bird/nature noises in the speakers on every floor, which doesn't really make much sense considering you are in downtown Chicago. And they didn't have the ability to check out from your room, the front desk attendant didn't know when that will be available either. Beware that valet parking costs $45 as well, I realize that this is downtown Chicago but that seems pretty expensive.
