The Marriott was nice. I was surprised that our room which had 2 double beds in it didn't have a refrigerator and also the ... remote control for the TV didn't work. Later we found out if you ask for a fridge, they will bring one up. And it took 2 phone calls for someone to get the remote to work. Other than that, it was nice. A tad expensive for the room, but the over all hotel is nice. Also, I could do without the $22 a day for parking!

This was our last hoorah for the summer, so really was just a nice quick relaxing get away. As always, the weather was ... perfect, the hotel was superb, and the kids had a blast. My only concerns were that they allow cigar smoke at the poolside, and there seemed to be only one working elevator at times, and we had a busted blow dryer in the room...

Not Worth the Money
Kelli Aug 24, 2009
We spent good money on this hotel thinking it was going to be a luxury stay. When we got there we found out parking was going ... to be an extra $22 a day, and and extra $12.95 each day for internet access. The room was small and didn't have a mini bar or a microwave. Our "balcony" was about one foot wide. They had very limited cable channels and there were ants all over our room. And, the pool area needed some updating - old lawn chairs, surfaces, stagnant ponds, etc. Overall, we were disappointed considering how much we spent.

Not worth the money
Terri Jul 14, 2009
We live in San Diego and decided to stay here for our 25th wedding anniversary because this is where we had spent our ... honeymoon night 25 years ago when it was the Intercontinental Hotel. The Marriott was expensive although I did get a discount by booking through Orbitz. The hotel was EXTREMELY noisy because of the train blowing the horn several times in the middle of the night in addition to the railrood crossing bells each time the train and the trolley passed. (The trolley starts up very early in the morning and comes through often.) There was one bottle of water on the counter with a $4 price tag. Most hotels offer complimentary water bottles. Bathroom fan was missing. Bed was comfy but not sure if the whole experience was worth it for the money we spent.

Decent convention hotel in a great area
Sneaky Jun 21, 2009
The hotel has a dramatic presence on the marina that you notice as soon as you approach it and each time you return. This is ... mirrored in the expansive pool and well-kept property. However, these surface frills quickly become saturated in the "old-ness" of the designs and the amenities that will be frequently encountered. This hotel could use a serious update. C'mon guys, alarm clocks with auxillary input jacks are not that expensive. Walls and floors look like something from decades ago. But really, those are minor in the scheme of things. The hotel could use some love, but I doubt it will require it to stay profitable. This is a convention hotel and it does conventions well. You *could* feasibly stay in San Diego without leaving this hotel (let's say you were preparing a big speech for a conference... not a farfetched vision in this spot). The service is attentive and friendly.
