Everything from check in to check out was easy and relaxed. One of the best parts was the no reservation policy at ... restaurants. We ate in a different one each night. No buffet stuff here. The food was excellent. Not quite on par with cruise, food but close. We has to wait a couple of times - no longer than 20 minutes- but you just sit in the Plaza with a drink and listen to the music.

We spent our honeymoon at Valentin during Christmas. The staff was super friendly, and this two-year-old property is well ... kept. Everyday we can see the staff trimming, and performing general up-keep of the property (without disturbing the guests, of course) The food was fantastic! We were impressed by all the restaurants we went to. The room is modern and every room has nice balcony views. The nightly entertainment was great also. You can tell that the performers put forth a lot of efforts in preparing the shows. The beach is a bit rocky; however, from talking to other travelers in Playa, the rocky beach is not unlike all the other hotels located north of Playa del Carmen. We've heard that as beaches get closer to Tulum, they get less rocky. All in all, a GREAT experience! Highly recommended, especially for their price range!

Big Papa Dec 15, 2009
The Valentin Imperial is one of the best all inclusive resorts my wife and I had stayed in. The staff was great and the ... services were excellent. The food was not so bad but having 24-hr room service made it great. Our only complaint was that our Internet service was never fixed despite numerous requests made at the front desk. We were told that this problem would be taken care of however the problem remained until we checked out. We truly wished we had more time to stay longer and we are looking forward to our next trip at Valentin.

AMAZING HOTEL
TatyanaM Dec 15, 2009
This was an amazing hotel, the best all-inclusive that we've ever stayed in! We strongly recommend using USA Transfer for the ... transfer from the airport to the hotel ($40 + tip), and on the way back we just took a taxi. The food was amazing, French restaurant and Thai/Indonesian were our favorites. The Italian was the least favorite, but still was ok. The pool is big, and there's always something to do. What impressed us the most though, was the service. No small detail was overlooked! The service was really on par with some of the top hotels in the world that we've stayed in. The only bad note that I can say was the bed. It was way too soft and cushiony, but we are not used to that. I can't say that it's the fault of the hotel though, since it's such a personal preferrence.

This hotel provided the best vacation I have ever been on. The rooms... amazing. The food.... amazing. The grounds .... ... amazing. I felt like I was a king for a week. The staff were very friendly and attended to your every need. During the trip the hotel has activities to participate in, if you want, games in the pool, casino night, dancing, and shows every night. You can be active or just loaf around as you please. This was my first all inclusive and really don't have the words to say how impressed I was with the Valentin. I am already starting to plan my next trip back.

Niki Dec 12, 2009
Beautiful rooms- sometimes maid service came later in the day but they always did a good job. The staff was very quick and ... courteous. The restaurants were all amazing- we ate at the Japanese one 4 times! If there was something that you ordered that was not great or if it was not enough, you can order more! The pool was beautiful! Huge with lots of places to sit. You had to get there early though to save good seats. The beach was the same- lots of room though and for the most part really clean. A few spots were rocky and everyday it was pretty wavy. Many people still went all the way into the swimming area and it was great to just get your feet wet. The entertainment was great and the staff did a great job to get people involved in the games during the day. At night the shows were amazing and theme night a lot of fun! Always live music in the main plaza and lots of dancing. The Sports bar was our groups' main hang out/ meeting point and always had the games plating on tv. The grounds were so perfectly and beautifully manicured! The tropical plants and water features with the covered bridges were stunning! There were quite a few people there when we visited which was nice because we met many ccol groups of travelers but it was not over crowded. The restaurants didn't have too long of waits to get in and we always needed a table of at least six. If there was a wait, we just grabbed a drink and if we were starving ( which we never were- food is everywhere here!) we could go to the early dinner buffet for theme night to get a snack! The drinks were great- never light on the alcohol. We had a group of about 30 for a wedding and everything went off without a hitch! The wedding planner was always there and had her staff decorate with everything we brought- about 6 boxes of decorations! I don't have anything bad to stay- this place was outstanding! I guess the only downfall was that the grounds are pretty big and there can be a lot of walking- which is not a bad thing with how much we ate! However, we stayed in building 1 and had friends in buildings 11, 8, and 6 and it can be easy to get a bit turned around if you are not sure where you are going!

Valentin Imperial Maya
P and S Dec 7, 2009
Outstanding hotel/resort. Food was well prepared, wide variety and attractively presented. While it is always easy to overeat ... and find foods that taste great while not being overly healthful, The Valentin tries to allow you choices that are not only flavorful, but healthful, too. We found nothing lacking in the accomodations. The room we had was spotless, comfortable and modern. We especially liked the free access to the internet while there. This is an especially nice benefit, so that we continued to be able to connect with our family and remained aware of what was happening at home. Bring a network cable to utilize this feature. Our room, and we assume all the others, had a widescreen TV with about 30 cable channels, about half in english or at least english subtitled. There was also a small DVD player; guests may want to bring along a few DVDs for late night viewing... we can't imagine why you'd want to waste time during the day watching TV! Many resorts of this size and type have daily evening entertainment and the Valentin is no exception. The shows were well produced and entertaining. The performers were talented and clearly enjoyed what they do. The variety was such that most anyone would find several shows that were enjoyable and worthwhile. The number of great restaurants on the resort site made certain that we got a wide variety of foods and styles of food. The waitstaff is very attentive and make certain that your dining experience is completely enjoyable and relaxing. The only "downside" to this resort: the ocean shore was somewhat rocky in areas and there is a small area to enter the water where there is sand below. We recommend that guests bring water shoes to overcome this. We are already starting to plan for the next time we will go to this resort. We couldn't have been happier with this resort or how it is run.

Beach Bum Dec 5, 2009
You can't beat this hotel for the price. Check-in was a breeze, including pina coladas while we waited and a complimentary ... upgrade to an ocean front room. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. The bartenders will give you whatever you want- don't be shy about asking for premium liquors or for them to add an extra shot to your drink- they do it happily. We didn't even have to tip to get good drinks, but we did because the bartenders were so nice. The restaurants were across the board awesome. Some items on the menu are obviously going to be better than others, but everything ranged from really good to amazing. We never had to wait for a table even during peak dinner time and this hotel doesn't use reservations so that was nice not to hassle with. At breakfast, there are chefs out making up omelets with your choice of ingredients, they also make crepes and pancakes stuffed with chocolate, bananas, etc. They'll make whatever you want, just ask even if you don't see it (although you might have to ask in spanish for them to understand). For lunch there are only two places open, the restaurant by the pool and one by the lobby. Both had good food, but the one by the lobby (a further walk) had a bigger variety and again a chef out grilling fresh meat and veggies. The pool was immaculate and big. Some people were taking the lounge floaties out of the pool and stashing them by their chairs which was rude, but we never had a problem finding some within a short time anyway. There are games and activities going on at the pool- nothing too exciting, but gives you something to do or things to look at. The beach is beautiful and you can walk for about a mile or so. The waves were a little rough and not great for body surfing, but at least there were waves. You could definitely still go in without danger, they just rose and broke too quickly to catch, if you're into riding them. They have wave runners and boats to take out, but the rough waves don't really allow for that, at least not when we were there. Bottom line, this hotel is incredibly cheap for the quality, the staff was always professional and friendly, and you can always get what you want/need if you ask! Don't hesitate to book!

We wanted a nice resort, comfortable room & nice weather at a good price. We got much more than what we expected for an ... unbelievable price. It was absolutely breathtaking. The room was large and beautifully decorated with a big jacuzzi, 2 balconies. Marble bathroom. Super comfortable King Size bed. We were in a Silver room which is a little more 'deluxe' than the regular junior suite. The food was the best, no reservation needed. The beach was beautiful, very large. Waiters on the beach which was awesome. Employees were eager to please. Out of our 5 last trips at Riviera Maya, this was by far the best. All the "a la carte" restaurants were excellent, much more than what you would expect in an "all inclusive". [...]

Great week at Valentin
soontobemrsk Nov 16, 2009
We really enjoyed our week at the VIM. When we were there, the other guests were mostly honeymooners or older couples, almost ... no single people. It has potential to be a party with the right people, but was not really while we were there. At night most people just gather in the plaza to drink and listen to music or walk around the grounds. It's dark at night, so bring a flashlight. We saw Sunday and Monday night football games in the sports bar. Bring a floatation device if you know you'll want one(they get claimed early) and if you want a good lounge chair at the pool get up early (like 5:30-6am) and throw your towel and a book on some. Then go back to bed. Otherwise you probably won't have a place to sit around the pool.

Large resort with beautifully landscaped grounds. The rooms were elegant and clean. The food was wonderful. Best buffets. ... French restaurant (try the Chateuabriand, goat cheese salad, quiche, and apple tart) and Lobster Pot (try the tuna bites and Alaskan King Crab legs) were the best for food and service. But avoid the Lobster Pot and Steak house if it's raining cause they flood! The Mexican restaurant was alot of fun. The steakhouse was good but not great. The Japanese and Indonesian food was average at best. Didn't try the Italian but heard it was good. The beach and pool were gorgeous, get your chairs early cause people reserve them. And bring your own floats or get out early and tuck one under your chair. The drinks were weak and watered down. Ask for shots on the side if you like stronger drinks. The bar service was slow but the servers at the pool and beach move pretty quickly. They needed more rainy day activities. The food at Secrets Carpi is better as are the rooms but the resort is smaller and not as nicely landscaped. The Iberostar was a lot more fun but the food wasn't as good, but the drinks were much better. But the Valentin Imperial Maya was a great value. We would go back in a heartbeat.
