Great Service.. little far from downtown

The hotel wasn't too close to the main attractions in Chicago, but it was a great price and they did offer a free shuttle ... service to where we wanted to go. There wasn't anything within walking distance though. The restaurants in the hotel were great. The staff was excellent in guiding us on where to go since we were first time visitors.

Neat and relatively inexpensive
Alex Nov 8, 2009
Very clean rooms and friendly hotel staff. The only real problem are completely insane parking rates. At $26/day for self ... park, it may be cheaper to just take taxi everywhere. Plus, hotel shuttle will take you to most tourist attractions. If you are like us and need the rental car, there is plenty of free street parking around the hotel, but be careful about Soldierfield stadium events or you will get towed. If the weather allows it, museums are a comfortable walk from hotel. I wanted to take a star away for parking fees, but parking is insanely expensive everywhere in Chicago, so I gave the hotel all 5 stars.

There was hair left in the bathtub from the previous visitor but otherwise it was a clean room. There was nowhere to walk to ... from the hotel so you have to take a taxi to get anywhere. We don't recommend the hotel restaurant for dinner- we paid $100 without drinks and I couldn't eat my dinner because it just tasted bad. It was quiet and well-kept and a good location if you want to be isolated from the rest of Chicago. It's at a convention center that closes at 5 or so so the whole place shuts down at night and if you don't want to eat at the overpriced restaurant you just need to order room service or take a taxi to the next closest restaurant. The staff told me the hotel would not charge for local calls but when I checked out they charged me over $1 a call for one-minute calls.

Hyatt Regency - No Thank You!
Bass Player Sep 11, 2009
Absolute worst location if you plan to shop, dine or enjoy the water activities (Navy Pier) during your stay. Nothing (fast ... food, convenience store) in walking distance for older folks or those with disabilities! The only plus was the Arie Theatre which is connected to the hotel otherwise the Hyatts location doesn't cut it. Our room didn't have a microwave or refrig, which makes the notion of a doggie bag a waste of effort if you want to warm something up late at night or keep a perishable refrigarated. One would have to come down from the 23rd floor and use the single microwave located on the 1st floor before it closes, very bad very inconvenient, big negative for this hotel at the room rate we paid. The next Hyatt outrage is you have to pay to use the computers and printer, OUTRAGEOUS! At every turn the Hyatt will nickel and dime you. Checkout: I made my reservation via Orbits thus I paid upfront, turns out I was double charged because the person at the desk who checked us out didn't catch I prepaid. I had to call and get it all straightened out. Major dropping of the ball! Plus: The staff was great, restuarants top notch, food was great, good value for the money, room minus the microwave and refrig was up to par, housekeeping timely. Conclusion: Like the hotel didn't like the location nor the amenities. Bases on the issued described I would not stay there again if ever in Chicago.

The valet parking was an absolute nightmare. They ended up charging me for 4 24-hour periods of parking (at $37/ per period) ... and I was only there 2.25 days. Absolute insanity. It was only that I caught the error and even then, I was charged 3 days. The phones kept ringing in the middle of the night and waking me up but when I'd pick it up, noone was there. The water in the shower ran brown for about 2 minutes prior to running clear - not good.

The hotel was too far away from the restaurants, etc. We could have selected a hotel in a better location for dining and entertainment, there wasn't much availalve in or close to the hotel without a cab ride.

QUIET HOTEL, WITHOUT A CONVENTION.
Museum fan Aug 31, 2009
Hotel is in a good central location for the Museum Campus, Navy Pier and Sports. Not a good location for transportation, the ... hotel shuttle will take you but will not pick you up, it is 8 blocks to the train and you don't want to take your car out of parking because you will have to pay the $38 valet again, there is a bus stop but we couldn't fine route info, options are limited. Also, there are no close restaurants, and the only place open in the hotel was the lounge or the snack/coffee bar, since there wasn't a convention going on.

Me and my boyfriend went to Chicago for our first time to watch a Bears game in Soldier Field! Our hotel was at the heart of ... Good location not what I expected of 4*
Dano43543 Aug 24, 2009
The hotel was a nice hotel. It was rated a 4 star hotel so I guess I was expecting a little more. Truth be told it wasn't ... much different than a stay at our local Ramda Inn in Holiday City. The brochuer said you can open windows: we could not, the online photos showed a flat screen TV in the King rooms: we did not, and with there being ajoining rooms we could hear the people in the room next door while we were trying to sleep. There were area around the night stands that have not been cleaned for a long time, the dust was piled around the base. Behind the objects on the desk was some kind of powder-like substance that was very noticeable. So, it appears that the house keepers only cleaned the obvious areas in this room. I thought the pool was a little small for being a 4 star hotel. The hotel did have great service, friendly staff, and convient parking. The location was great considering we had tickets to Solider Field that night, and the view was outstanding from our room.

My husband and I went to a pre-season Chicago Bears game. This hotel is in walking distance to Soldier Field (around a ... mile). We very much enjoyed our stay but the lounge is very costly (twice the cost of other bars) and there is a very limited menu available after 11pm - even on the weekends. The customer service was wonderful. Our room was a little worn with nail holes, and tattered wallpaper.

There are a ton of great restaraunts on Michigan Ave but there really isn't many places near the hotel. Next time instead of eating or drinking anything at the hotel we'll take a cab or better yet walk a litter further (1+ mile).

The hotel was beautiful. We were on the 23rd floor and the view as great. The service was great when called for service they ... were there within minutes. The parking fees were $27.00 for 24 hours unless you left the lot for self park. The valet was more but you were able to come and go as you like but then you had to give a tip.
