Many amenities are NOT as advertised
Staceylikestogo Oct 16, 2009
When we arrived at the hotel we were given room keys and ONE breakfast coupon. I told the desk people I was fairly sure that ... [...] had advertised TWO per night. They said 'NO, you are wrong.' SO, I figured, okay, but I came back to the casita and looked on the computer and indeed, I was correct, it was advertised as TWO. So the next morning with computer in hand I returned to the desk and said, [...] says 'two'.... they hemmed and hawed but said 'well we will go ahead but the web site is wrong'. Now, do they realize I wouldn't even BE HERE if not for [...]? Also, it is advertised that each 485 sq ft casita has it's OWN private hot tub, but when you get here, it is LOCKED in compliance with some local act or other. SO no access to the private back deck and no private hot tub. This is still advertised on THEIR web site as well! The room was okay. Not terribly fancy but comfy, and the a/c worked well. Fridge worked well, etc. The main swimming pool is dirty, the edges are not clean, their were no towels, dirt on the bottom, and I saw no one cleaning it early in the morning. Location is great, lots of things to do in the area if you have a car. Fashion Square Mall is close by with loads of great stores, there is a gourmet grocer not far (AJs), old Scottsdale, etc. So Extra points on the location! The breakfast that we fought so hard to get for FREE was very good, but no way I would have paid $11 for it! Just know if you stay here, you are going to be disappointed by SOMETHING.... I promise!

Beware of "good deals"
Spin Dr. Oct 15, 2009
I booked the suite in this hotel because each suite had it's own private patio with a hot tub. Upon arrival I was asked if ... any one called me to tell me all the hot tubs were broken. Nobody had. Had I known I would have stayed at the Hotel our friends weeding was at down the street. To compensate they gave us a $50 food and beverage credit, but since the package I bought included breakfast ( which took two hours the first morning) and the only restaurant on site closed at noon it did us absolutely no good. This is the second time I have gotten a "good deal" from a travel site and showed up to find something at the hotel was not available. The first time I flew all the way to Daytona Beach Florida to find out my "resort" pool and spa at the hotel was closed for the entire week I was there for maintenance. But I was still charged $25/night reort fee. My assumption is if it is cheap on a travel site, there is a reason.

The Cottonwoods IS walking distance to the mall and Old Town Scottsdale, however it is pretty hot during the day. There are some shops and places to eat very close, however a lot of them are closing down, or look on the verge of it.

This Place was great
Patrick Sep 14, 2009
This place definitely exceeded my expecations, especially for the price. It was very close to the nightlife and restaurants ... in downtown Scottsdale. Our room was a one bedroom suite that had a private patio with an outdoor jacuzzi. Service was great, the grounds were beautiful. Only complaint was that the on-site bar and restaurant services closed very early.

our trip
jed Aug 25, 2009
We thought the hotel was great overall. Our room was right off the main pool area which was nice for us. Our private hot ... tub didn't heat up at all. At night that would have been nice. Also the closest ice machine to us stopped working the day after we got there. The On-Demand didn't work properly in our bedroom, but we just switched to the living room tv and everything was fine. Only other thing I found wrong was they wouldn't give us two meal coupons per day as advertised on the Orbitz site. I overheard them explaining to some other guests that it was an error on another travel site's part. So I know they just didn't want to honor them from any travel site. Seems pretty bogus to me.

Nice place to stay
CorgiGirl Aug 24, 2009
The staff was very friendly and the room was nice, but the air conditioner wasn't able to cool the room even at night. The ... feather topper was helpful on the bed, but you could tell the mattress was old because you would lean to one side. I also was a little disappointed that they threw in a resort fee of $10.80 without telling us until we checked out.

The resort is a little older but nice. We had a private spa on our room. The back patio and spa was full of leaves but it ... had rained the night before and they did provide a skimmer to clean the spa out. The rooms and furniture were a little old and outdated but they were clean and well kept. It was quiet and close to alot of restaurants and activities. Dolce was very close by also. Its nice if you are just going to relax as a couple. For the price it was a nice stay.

Houstons across Scottsdale Road had excellant steak, with a little price but worth it. The Melting Pot on Hayden was also really nice. It was a pricy meal but it took us almost 3 hours to complete our whole meal so we thought it was worth it for a special event.

Charming resort exactly as described
travelingfamily Apr 28, 2009
This was a true gem, and was exactly as described. 170 casita's, plus a house (rentable) on 25 gorgeous acreas in the middle ... of everthing (shopping, spa, etc). The place was spotless. We had a private patio (private!!) with our own hot tub which was just fantastic. We were right near the pool. Lots of walking trails, bunnies ("cottonwoods"), and floral / southwestern decore. I would go back again.

Try the site "www.yelp.com" to find the best resturaunts in the area. Downtown old scottsdale is only a few minutes away. The Cowboy Chow was a fantastic place to eat and there are many others. No reason to eat at the "big box" resturaunts. Also great spas right next to resort.

Ron Dec 29, 2008
The Cottonwoods is a sprawling 25 acre property that gives a soothing, quiet, and peaceful experience. Although right off ... Scottsdale road, the hotel seemed quite remote from the hustle and bustle of Scottsdale. I especially enjoyed the in ground private hot tub on the patio. The suite I stayed in was of reasonable size, clean and comfortable. It should be noted that the restaurant was only open for breakfast and that there is no fitness center on site. The only major complaint I had with the Cottonwoods is the check in. I was very satisfied with the Cottonwoods Resort.

Nice clean room, great location
Bill Dec 22, 2008
The location was great too. On the border of Scottsdale and mansion filled Town of Paradise Valley. Right next door to the ... high-end shopping at the Borgata. Also next to Trader Joe's and AJ's Fine Foods, also a high-end grocery store. The room was a casita near the pool. Living room area, kitchenette area with sink and fridge (no microwave), then bedroom area with comfortable King bed. Also had private back patio with personal hot tub. Unfortunately the water was not warm enough to get into. The grounds were very nice too, with casita's spread out over some 20+ acres and nice views of Camelback Mountain. 2.5 miles to Hwy 101, 2 miles south to Scottsdale Fashion Square and Old Town Scottsdale, full of shopping and places to eat. For the price, got a nice clean room, in real nice part of town, convenient to lots of things.

It?s an excellent option to be in Scottsdale, close to the Mall, easy to drive to reache the runaways to go out the ... city. In the neighborhood good places to dinner and others ones to have a delicious breakfast. Room confortable, bathroom clean and enough and the little kitchen with refri acceptable.
