Seriously 5 stars!
Kayla Dec 8, 2009
My boyfriend I stayed at La Amada in August of 2009 and we have never been more impressed. First of all the staff were so ... friendly they took the time to know your name and always greet you. They offer champagne and cold towels while you check in. The rooms are unbelievable. Jacuzzi in room that can have outdoor access if you open patio door. The bed is huge and comfortable. Marble floors and the shower is marble with see through glass door and window looking into the room. The pools were very nice and clean. The water was always nice and warm/cool. The beach was clean and had many chairs available. The spa was amazing. Food at Aroma was 5 stars. Always delicous and surprising affordable. Dinner average $40-60 lunch at isla grill around $30. Everyday there were new chips and homeade salsas served before the meals. And dinner always had new items for the begining and end courses. Drinks were on the expensive side but worth it. Waiters were always looking to please you. It was off season so swim up bar was not open but look forward to going back when its up and running. It would have been nice if there would have been more restaurant choices. We didnt leave the resort because everything we wanted(besides more restaurants)was here. Ive heard it costs around $30 to leave the hotel and go into downtown where the clubs are. Location is the only thing i can see people complaining about but if you're looking to relax in luxury its the place for you. It is an amazing hotel and I am definitely going back! We miss it already!

I just got a taste of heaven
Cupcakexjunkie Dec 6, 2009
This trip was divine. I recommend getting the swim up suite.. It was worth the extra money. You're a bit closer to the beach ... and the view of the pool is absolutely breathtaking. You can just walk straight into your room soaking wet instead of having to take the elevator or if your junior suite is on top of the hotel, you'd have to pass the restaurant Aroma. You basically have the whole beach to yourself. If you email the consierge about things to do they will email you a power point of activities. I recommend reserving the romantic dinner on the beach. The cost of that special dinner would be about the same as having normal dinners ($60usd pp)You get your own waiter. REMEMBER TO BRING LOTS OF $1 bills! Its a hassle to change into pesos for tipping.

Great property! Access to spa facilities should be included in rate, but other than that it was a very good experience. Get a ... car and you'll be able to take off when you want or need to (like to visit the ruins of Tulum or buy a tasty street-grilled chicken) and then return to one of the nicest properties with a beach I have ever been to. Paradise Found
Gwitz Nov 30, 2009
We were there for five days over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a fantastic time. Do not be misled by the reasonableness of ... the price. This is a luxury operation and attracts a well traveled and sophisticated crowd. First, the staff is both professional and the friendliest I have experienced. Second, the spa and the gym are the best I have seen outside of Canyon Ranch. Third, the hotel is chic from the lobby to the rooms to the spa to the dining areas and outdoor bar/lounge (with great music at night). Fourth, the food at dinner is first rate. Fifth, the rooms are luxurious with plush towels and good products. If I had to quibble it would be with two things. First, the menu is the same at dinner every night which would make it hard to stay here for a week unless you were willing to travel to dinner. Maybe a special every night or having a different menu for each day of the week (so that say all Tuesdays are the same but Tuesday and Wednesday are different) would work. There really are no close dining alternatives---you don't want to have to go to the Hotel Zone every too often because it is about 30 minutes each way. Second, the dining room wait staff is good but disorganized. They need a manager with real restaurant experience to direct both the lunch and dinner meals. As an overall experience it was wonderful and far better than hotels I have stayed at where the cost was multiples of the cost of this hotel.

LaAmada is beautiful and serene. Stayed for 6 days in Nov 2009. The layout makes it feel spacious and uncrowded. Definitely ... calmer than the all-inclusive next door. Would definitely visit again. Earned every single 5 star
Chris Canfield Nov 16, 2009
This is one of the few 5-star hotels that I've stayed at which genuinely deserved all 5 stars. All of the service was prompt ... and thorough, with even the strangest requests met with a pleasant response. Service was just outstanding, with everyone bending backwards to make for a great stay. If the in-room jacuzzi and 5-head showers isn't enough, the resort has 3 further available pools, a very nice stretch of beach, a marina, and a hydrotherapy spa. The food was amazing, with the "free breakfast" being a large buffet including things like jamon cerrano, braised salmon, mimosas, custom baked pastries, etc. The other meals were similarly delicious. The room was larger than it seemed in the photographs, covered in wall-to-wall polished stone, white wood, and every amenity that you could reasonably hope for. International plugs, simple in-room climate control, an iPod alarm clock dock, and a Jacuzzi which opens either to the room or out to the private deck round out a wonderful overall package. The private deck includes a lounge chair in the style of a bed, which is perfect for slumbering under the stars at night. I could ramble on and on all night about the little details they got right, but let's just say that they were spot on. Be aware that this is a new part of Cancun (as of 2009), and is mostly still under construction. As such, it is about a 20 minute ride from the "action" of downtown Cancun proper. If you're looking for an experience more like Planet Hollywood, you'll probably want something a bit further South (or to rent a car). However, the relaxed, restful atmosphere of Playa Mujeres was just perfect for us. I cannot recommend La Amada highly enough.

The Spa's Hydrotherapy routine is an affordable 60 minutes that you won't forget. Alternating between the extremes of hot and cold, the experience is bracing and refreshing. There is no guarantee that you will actually like the treatment (our group seemed split). But you will never forget it.

A nice enjoyable stay. The in room Jacuzzi is a little shallow. The shower is absolutely amazing. The dining menus were a ... little short on selection, and the portion sizes were small as well. But every bite was full of flavor. I was always excited to see what their little appetizers and desserts were, as they tickled your taste buds. The morning breakfast buffet was amazing. The hotel is not at full capacity, so the swim up bar was not open yet. The agua viva spa was so nice we did it twice.

La Amada Hotel - Best Place EVER
GGs Mom Oct 29, 2009
This hotel is GREAT! The staff was very friendly, warm and attentive. Not one detail was overlooked. We were always greeted ... with a smile and addressed by name. We visited the spa various times and were pleasantly surprised with all the available treatments, the proffessional staff and the peaceful environment. The hotel is outside of Cancun, but its location is perfect. Its surrounded by great landscaping, quiet peaceful settings. The hotel offers daily service by Sailboat to the Hotel Zone, as well as daily trips to Isla Mujeres. Our package included continental breakfast, but the food was great. They offer many options for food and whatever we ordered we were always pleasantly surprised. The kids club was great, and they let you borrow movies to bring to your room as well as toys. This has been the best stay in Cancun we've had yet. Last year we stayed at the Riu Palace and it doesn't compare at all. LA Amada is quiet, you don't have to fight for a place by the pool, everything is great. At turn down service, you get a complete guide of the weeks activities and a list of specials being offered at the spa. The gym is equipped with the latestest equipment available along with a trainer to help you with any questions you might have. They offer various fitness classes throughout the day as well. Yoga, water aerobics, streaching, etc... The ONLY suggestion I could make to the hotel was to add a small garbage can by the bar area and another by the sink area of the bathroom. We will return and I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a great secluded place to relax and enjoy nature.

I cannot say enough regarding the quality of the hotel, the quality of the services and the friendliness and attentiveness of ... the staff. Every day at La Amada was a joyful experience. Cancun is beautiful and the facilities here at la Amada were flawless. It is in a secure location, beautiful private beach, away from the noisy and crowded hotel zone. there are three large pools, two restaurants, fitness center and spa. We went to the spa several times and my favorite was the weekend Agua Viva treatment. The gourmet breakfast buffet was abundant, natural with mainly organic choices. This hotel is an as of yet undiscovered jewel; now is the time to discover for yourself! We had eleven family members staying for an average of 7 nights. It was heaven.

don't buy the airport transfer. Purchasing in advance is not any cheaper and you have to wait in a long line for your turn before you get a taxi. Then you have to share the taxi. The taxi driver told me it cost $25 to get to the airport from La Amada.

We took a boat excursion to Isla Contoy, a national park about 2 hours away by boat. The concierge helped to put it together. There are many kinds of birds nesting on the island, as well as good snorkeling and a wonderful beach. The tour company (Kolumbus Tours) took us on a wooden boat, with open bar and lunch included. They were knowledgeable and excellent.

If you're comfortable driving in less developed nations, renting a car is far and away the easiest, least expensive option for getting around while in the Yucatan. A cab ride from the airport to La Amada will cost you about $70 USD one way, so if you want to visit anything outside of the hotel -- even just a trip to the hotel zone public beaches -- the car will pay for itself quickly. Take a drive down to Tulum to check out the ruins and cenotes; the highway has been completely re-done.
--Canada, Edmonton, AB Oct 5, 2009

Cancun Downtown is the locals place to go for dinner. As the dinner menu at the hotel is not too large it is a nice getaway to taste local food in decent quality!
--Koray, Boston,MA Sep 14, 2009
The hotel is a bit away from all that Cancun has to offer. So you may want to rent a car if you plan on going into the hotel zone or party central very often. It's around 50.00 US to go round trip into the hotel zone.
--Missing Mexico, Dallas, Texas Sep 10, 2009
