Richmond getaway

I was at this hotel because it was close to the wedding I was going to in Twin Lakes, WI. The hotel was average. The King ... size bed I had requested in my reservation was on the second floor and I had a large suit case with me. There were no elevators to take me to the second floor so I had to take a room with two double beds in it instead. The room was adequate but I would not recommend this hotel unless you really needed to be in or around Richmond as your food and entertainment choices are very limited. I have been to other places that were off the beaten path that had lower prices and nicer rooms. The only thing that made this Hotel package a deal was I rented a car for the same period of time I was staying at the hotel. This hotel would not be worth the price otherwise.

A clean value

We stayed at the SaveInn over the 4th of July. It was very inexpensive. WHAT WE LIKED The hotel itself is older. It was ... extremely well-maintained. Nothing was broken or dingy-looking. The housekeeping staff should be commended, as the room (and the rest of the hotel) was spotless. For being at full capacity, it was also very quiet. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We had a problem with the TV remote. They switched remotes immediately. A remote is not a big deal, but they were right on top of it. Even though the pool was outdoor and very small, it too was spotless. There was a continental breakfast included. Not the biggest in the world, but very nice. The SavInn does also have WiFi. I was able to connect with no problem. Even the parking lot & landscaping was well done, though there was construction on highway 12. THINGS WE DIDN'T LIKE The air in the room was very dry. We didn't have the air conditioning on very high, since the weather was very cool for July. The only ice/vending machines were in the middle of the first floor. There are no elevators. BOTTOM LINE It's a small, immaculately kept hotel with few emmenities, all for a reasonable price.

Very clean, if not the best-looking

Went to a wedding in Twin Lakes. Didn't expect much from this hotel. I travel 20-30 nights a year for business in small ... towns. This hotel's strengths lie in what it is NOT. It is not a Hampton, or even a super 8. It doesn't try to be a fake-happy chain. It's a simple, clean place with good sheets and very basic (but well-executed) amenities. The rooms were older but the linens were exceptionally clean and fresh. Pillows were fine - not too huge, not too firm, and no smell. HVAC was very quiet - I almost wished for more white noise. There was no thermostat. Experiment with room temperature early in the night to avoid getting up to change it. Bathroom was dated but, again, spotless and not a hint of mildew. Soaps and mediocre towels were provided. Locks were high-tech and I heard from other guests that the facility was increasing its tech, such as wifi and online reservations. Cable was great because it WASN'T a hotel chain television system. Just channels 1-72 on the local cable network. Which means no channel-change lag or annoying startup channel. Breakfast was spare (and a surprise inclusion) but not missing anything important: bread, bagels & cream cheese, 3 cereals, milk, coffee, muffins. Still, better than expected for the category. I'd have no problems staying there again. Nice owner too.
