Beautiful resort for a relaxing vacation

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable vacation at the Westin Lagunamar in Cancun. The pool area, complete with swim up bar and ... waterslide was amazing. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the service was top notch. This was our second visit and we will be back again.

Beautiful Hotel and Perfect Location

This was our second time staying at the westin the first was westin puerta vallarta and this by far surpasses it. We stayed 5 ... nights from 11/01/09-11/06/09. The hotel is brand new and is incredibly clean, friendly staff, amazing pool that has the perfect tempature, and a great swim up bar (although the mixed drinks could have more alcohol added). Our room was always clean when we came back from wherever we were, and if you leave a tip on the bed or table they will leave you lil surprises. (def need to leave a tip at least once to see). Although we didnt eat on site since the prices seemed way out of our range for what they were offering we did eat at the swim up bar which was great. We both had a cheesburger and it was amazing seriously one of the best burgers ive had in awhile. The only down side of this hotel is the fact that they are still in the process of building so at 4am every single night we would be woken up by the noisy construction of them drilling into the ground and hammering. So if you plan to go before construction is complete I would HIGHLY recommend bring ear plugs to be on the safe side. But hopefully your room wont be anywhere near the construction. And when we called to complain they just try to say its the construction going on across the street, and did not accomadate. Since im sure they get alot of these complaints I doubt they can give everyone something. But that was the only downfall everything else was perfect the people there are really friendly and nice, and unless you desparately need to dont take a taxi they will rip you off. Its way better to pay the bus taxis take advantage of the tourists we drove 3 blocks and got charged 7 american dollars ridiculous. And the busses are not bad at all to take and you get there just as fast. Would definitely go back to this hotel but only after they are completely done with construction.

If you do want to have authentic GREAT mexican food, take a bus or taxi to el centro (downtown cancun) and eat at "La Parilla". My friend recommended it to me so we tried it and loved it. I had the lobster in devil sauce and it was the best lobster dish i have ever had (And they make it right in front of you). Delicious cant wait to go back and have that again!

Beautiful accomodations
Mimi Oct 15, 2009
We stayed for 6 nights in October of 2009 and enjoyed every minute. The room was a studio that included a kitchenette ... complete with convection oven and all necessary cooking items as well as dishes, glasses and cutlery. Also included in the room was a stacked washer and dryer which came in very handy. Every room at the Lagunamar is oceanfront and and has an outdoor balcony. Our first room was overlooking the new construction so we thought we would ask for a better location. The front desk accomodated us the next day with a room overlooking the beautiful infinity pool as well as the ocean. The hotel is located across the street from a large outdoor mall that has a lot of restaurants and nice shops as well as an aquarium with a dolphin show. 7.50 pesos will take you anywhere on the bus which you can catch on the street in front of the hotel or cabs are always readily available.

The resort is exact as shown in the pictures, beautiful and relaxing. We loved the balcony and pool.Staff is friendly and ... helpful. Location, location is true. An open-air mall is just across the street with public transportation at the end of the resort's drive. It is easy to get around and eat at properties off the resort since there is only one restaurant. We did take the bus to the Walmart and brought food that we cooked in the room and the outside grill (nice touch). We went to Talum-hot,hot but educational. Our goal was a relaxing time, which was achieved.

Perfect service, but its a timeshare
Carly from Queens Sep 11, 2009
Perfect service from everyone except the concierge who wanted us to buy into the timeshare, and sent us on this long busride ... followed by a walk to Market 28 which was closed, also the property isnt finished being built, they suspended construction i think and there were huge bugs(and I'm from NY, seen some huge bugs) running around our balcony at night which i think were coming from the construction mess that our balcony overlooked, also continental breakfast was NOT included like Orbitz said it was, thats only for the timeshare owners, the ATM machine on site charged a $22 fee to give us dollars instead of pesos, what a scam...
Traveler type: Family
Instead of buying anything at the store in the hotel, cross the street to the Isla Shopping Village where there's a pharmacy/convenience store that had big bottled water for 50 cents instead of a small water for $4 at the hotel, also avoid the hotel atm, $22 service charge, and take the bus around town, only 7 pesos which is like 50 cents instead of overpriced cabs...

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, the pool is amazing!! Their beach is also beautiful, they clean their sand everyday ... and there's lots of palapas to sit and enjoy the view. I really liked their rooms, we stayed at the studio, it had pretty much everything we needed (plus awesome if you have a family) full stacked kitchen, dishwasher, fridge, washer and drier, also jacuzzy. The place was spotless, and we had a wonderful view. Everyone was very polite and attentive, you get very spoiled. Also you can barbeque by the pool and chill on the hammocks. You have to stay here!!!

You can drive to walt-mart and get all the food you need, they have already made salsas, tortillas, mexican sweet pastries, etc. Also if you like original mexican food (and I'm mexican) and don't want to spend a whole lot, go to VIPS and for something more spendy go to Casa Maguey, the food's amazing!!!

We rented a 2 bed 2 bth unit (a studio and a 1-bdrm)there was plenty of room for the 5 of us. A full sized kitchen and an ... efficiency kitchen, 2 decks, living room, 2 washer/dryers, everyone had their own bed. Daily maid service. La Isla Mall is across the street.Wonderful restaurants nearby. They assign a personal concierge who has good suggestions and can make reseravtions, Went to Wal-mart once for groceries. They have gas grills near the pool. It's fun to grill, drink a beer, and meet folks doing the same. The pools are fantastic, very warm,a slide for the kids. Happy hour at 5pm (2 for 1)at the swimup bar and take the drinks out to the infinity edge. Staff were all friendly and accomodating. Got late checkout (1pm) because of late flight, just by asking. Kids liked Kids Club, Wii, computers, foosball, air hockey, putt putt, and bunnies to pet. Good work-out facility, included. Wireless internet included and a business center included. Good food at the pool bar for lunch. Plenty of pool chairs in sun or shade. Never felt crowded. Beach is better than most in the hotel zone and the kids enjoyed the ocean, not too rough. This is a fairly new property and is spotless. This is a time-share property, but once we told them that we had no interest they never asked about it again. For a week-long vacation, having a kitchen saves a lot on breakfasts and lunches. I've been to Cancun over 10 times and would return here in a heartbeat.

My husband and I spent 3 nights and we were very pleased with the service and amenities. The swimmingpool is wonderful and ... the location is very convinient...right in front of La Isla shopping mall; the only inconvinient that we found was the noise,I think the walls are very thin and we heard our neighboors' kids jumping & moving stuff around. I would say this hotel is ideal for families because the rooms are well equipped, they even include washing and drier machines. The only other thing we didn't like was the 10:00am check-out time.
