Clean, convenient location
Germophobe Oct 27, 2009
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice continental breakfast in the morning helped get the day started. The room was ... small but clean, bathroom was a good size. Only down side was my room faced Smith Street and was noisy at times during the night with street traffic, and the ocassional police sirens.

Smith has a trove of reasonably priced restaurants. Also has grocery stores, including an organic store for milk, eggs, yogurt, etc.

My friend and I were in Brooklyn for a wedding. Got to the hotel a bit before check in time and our room was ready and we ... were able to check in early. Parking garage (not owned by the hotel) is right next door and not over priced. Last minute we needed a roll away bed and it was available for a small fee and it was very comfy. The room was very contemporary, very clean and very comfortable. Front desk was very nice and very helpful, called a car service for us, hailed a cab and held our luggage after we had checked out.

I loved the modern, white, clean room!
Aunt Sumiko Sep 23, 2009
All went well. I loved the bright while modern looking room. Location was great. The only part I did not like was the ... price - $300 for a room with Queen size bed. The web advertised for $235 and when I got to the reservation page, it went up to $300. I will never use the web reservation again. Breakfast was dissapointing - mostly low quality food.

JOYA Restaurant on Court St serves great Thai cuisine. If you're too tired to eat out, they will prepare takeout and even deliver. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Hotel.Reasonable price and good food equals great value!

Just what you need...and at a good price
mulderig Sep 7, 2009
I was on a cycling trip, cycling from Philadelphia to NYC earlier that day. The hotel is very well located. There are ... plenty of wonderful restaurants to pick from and a nice shopping area on Montague Street, all within a very short stroll. Manhattan is just minutes away and very easy to reach. The hotel was well staffed. Check in-out was a breeze. The room (#232) was immaculate. It was on the more compact size, but there was plenty of space. The hotel has been open about 1.5 years and it's decor tends towards the modern. Efforts have been made to have the building be green, ie. furniture made from bamboo, natural cork flooring, etc. There is free wifi access for guests and the room had a flat screen tv & mini bar. Breakfast was included in the room price, which for NY was pretty reasonable. I did not use the parking garage (next door), but it is good to know that the hotel has one. People needing wheelchair access should have no problem as the hotel seems very accessible. I would happily stay here again.

comfortable, clean room
MIMI Aug 31, 2009
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I was visiting family and the location was perfect. Continental breakfast was ... crowded and very disorganized. There were not enough seats. Cereals and other foods, juices, etc. should have been labeled. I had to keep asking for things like utensils, napkins and even a bowl for the cereal. Also I did not like the fact that there was no security in the lobby. Late in the evening there was one person on the desk and he didn't even look up when someone came in and went upstairs. Anyone could walk in off the street and go upstairs.

It's Better in Brooklyn
Brooklyn fan Jun 29, 2009
We've stayed at Nu Hotel several times and it has provided consistently good service. Rooms are spacious, well-appointed and ... spotlessly clean. Beds are comfortable. We like the fact that they provide a free continental breakfast, which can be so helpful if you're on a tight schedule. Only down-side would be that you can hear a little traffic noise through the large windows. It's the price you pay for being in a great location, close to Brooklyn's restaurants, shops and a short walk to the subway. All in all worth the price.

If you want more than a continental breakfast, there's a restaurant, The St. Clair, right across Atlantic Ave. that serves great omelettes.

Nu Hotel Review
Sarah from Florida Jun 8, 2009
I loved my stay at Nu Hotel. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful in every way. The room was fantastic and very, very ... clean. The only thing I would change would be to make the rooms more soundproof to the noise from the street. We heard nothing from inside the hotel, but being from Florida, it was very difficult to sleep with all the outside noise. Great hotel, we will stay here again for sure.

If you have kids there is a great park a few blocks up Smith St. at Carroll. It's great for kids of all ages and there is an awesome deli across the street to grab sandwiches, fruit, juice and water.

Spotless Room, Great Price
Patrice Proud Grandmother Jun 7, 2009
There is a lot to do in Brooklyn, like the Broolyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Museum, but few nice, affordable places to ... stay. Nu Hotel is clean, with large comfy beds and spotless bathrooms. The neighborhood is fun to walk in, seeing historic brownstone houses with tiny gardens and going to cute little restaurants like Cafe Al Di La, Cafe Jolie and Teresa's. Breakfast at St. Clair across the street from Nu Hotel. We were welcome at all these places even with my 3 month old grandson.

Robby Apr 22, 2009
We asked for and received a hotel in the back off Atlantic Avenue. The room was huge for New York. We stayed for 3 nights and ... all were quiet. We heard some construction noise one night but nothing significant. Breakfast was good. There was fruit and croissant type pastries, Starbucks coffee, and juice. We used the very well equipped exercise room. Very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions, calling a car service, etc. Also, the location is good with plenty of choices for restaurants and access to the subway. We had some difficulty with housekeeping. We did not have enough towels when we first arrived. The front desk provided us with what they could as housekeeping had left for the day. The floor felt a little sticky. Really think it could have been cleaner.
