Excellent Hotel

I would definately stay here again. This hotel was very quiet and therooms were like a small studio apartment. I enjoyed the ... fact that there were 2 TV's. The place was so clean and the woman at the check in counter was wonderful and friendly.

High End Appearance but Lacking

We stayed at this hotel for one night before my 2 son's football game in Sacramento. The hotel stay included a ... cooked-to-order breakfast (pancakes, french toast, eggs, omlettes, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, bagels & toast, cereal, Starbucks brewed coffee, apple & orange juice). We initially booked a room with a King bed but changed it to a 2 Queen room after learning that this type of room was substantially larger than the room with one King bed. The hotel room had two separate rooms which included the living room with microfiber sleeper couch and ottoman plus a small desk and flatscreen television. The other room included the two queen beds and dresser with a regular television. The flatscreen tv was a nice touch but the volume did not turn up enough even at the maximum setting. The room was pretty clean but the bathroom toilet seat was disgusting. It was stained then painted over and it resulted in a lumpy multicolored toilet seat that did not seem to be sterile. The couch bed was not made with linens which is something we have found at other hotels. Also, when we opened the couch bed, there were pieces of dry cereal and cookie crumbs in it. The pool was nice but there were so many smokers out there that we could not stay for more than 10 minutes. My main gripe during the stay was the fact that upon check-in, they asked to see my i.d. and credit card and then put a $175 hold on my credit card WITHOUT even notifying me that they would do that. So when I called to ask them why there was a $175 charge, they did not apologize and said it's a standard amount to cover any room incidentals. That was not cool and I did not have access to my checking account since they put that hold on my card. I was able to find a branch of my bank about 15 miles away but was not able to withdraw money from my savings since it was Saturday. Overall, it was a "high-end" look but the customer service and cleanliness was mediocre. Since the price was mediocre, it was an okay value for the money.

The staff were the best I've seen - helpful, quick. The food in the bistro was really good and the breakfast was excellent ... as well. The pool was clean and quiet, but the hot tub was broken. The room was small but the layout was really nice and it was clean. The business center was great and we used the wireless. Overall, a very nice place!

The bistro delivers poolside and the prices are quite reasonable. Great with the kids and plenty of outside seating next to the pool, cabana style.

Hotel Sierra was great!
FresnoCouple Aug 8, 2009
Conveniently located just off the U.S. 50 freeway in Rancho Cordova, Hotel Sierra is great place to stay for weekend ... travelers visiting Sacramento. Room rates are a little bit higher than you would pay at a Motel 6 but you're getting so much more for your money. The rooms are mini-suites with two rooms plus the bathroom. The main room when you enter has a convertible sofa/sleeper, a HD TV mounted to the wall, a computer table and chair and a small refrigerator and microwave oven. The sleeping area has one or two beds with a smaller TV as well as a clock/radio to which you can also dock an iPod or other MP3 player. The bed has Downlite pillows for extra sleeping comfort and the rooms also have an ironing board and iron. Included with the room rate is a cook-to-order breakfast in the morning. The hotel also has a very nice swimming pool and hot tub as well as a fitness room outfitted with a fair selection of fitness equipment.

Excellent Hotel
NandC Jul 22, 2009
Rooms were clean, modern, and well maintained. Everything seemed to be in new condition. Having a second room for the ... bedroom was a real plus. Large bathroom. Pool was open and spacious and the staff of the pool bar was exceptionally helpful and courteous. The breakfast in the morning which is included in the very reasonable price of the room was way above and beyond. Truly a very special travelers hotel.

Upon checking in the service was decent. We were checked in easy and only had to wait for a few minutes to see if the room ... was cleaned. Our room was clean and better than expected. We had a pool view - very nice. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good. They had made to order plus your usual staples. The coffee was average, but I'm not complaining. The pool was clean. The room was spacious. The only thing that didn't work was the pocket door to the bedroom. It need to be fixed. But it all worked out. I thought there was a half kitchen in the room but it only had a small fridge and microwave. All good. No complaints. I'd stay again. The neighborhood was decent too. Not much to choose from for food close-by, you will have to drive.

A Great Value
lrl95136 Jun 21, 2009
We stayed here for a night to explore Gold Country and the American River area. It was one of the best hotel experiences ... we've had as a family. We initially checked in early and found that our suite had not been cleaned. The front desk personnel were extremely friendly and helpful and immediately gave us a complimentary upgrade to a full two room loft suite with full kitchen. Our kids loved the room and all the space. Some minor faults about the room: not all the lights worked and one of the remote controls had dead batteries. The pool was nice, but a little small. The fitness room had been remodeled and had 3-4 treadmill and cardio machines, but was very light on the strength equipment. The onsite dining options are limited. A free breakfast is served every morning. We were expecting a tray of stale pastries and bad coffee, but were instead treated to made-to-order omelettes with bacon, sausages, hash browns, pancakes and french toast. There were also bagels, english muffins, cereal, yogurt, fruit, a fresh juice bar and Starbuck's Coffee - all complimentary. One of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had. The hotel's location is very convenient. It's right off Highway 50 about 15 minutes from downtown Sacramento and 25 minutes from Coloma (Gold Country) and the American River. There are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby as well. This hotel is perfect for the value-oriented traveler (the type who doesn't mind bringing his own bags to his room). We're planning another trip to go rafting on the American River just so we can stay here again.

Excellent suite rooms with hot breakfast
TJ May 24, 2009
Nice location it is a bit further back from the highway than other hotels in area, so more quiet. Rooms are a suite setup ... which is great for a longer stay or if you just like that. Breakfast is a great included deal. There is a cook who makes up eggs, omelettes, french toast, pancakes in addition to the normal toast, cereal, coffee etc.
