Depends on the room
Traveler14 Sep 26, 2009
We stayed here at the beginning of our trip and at the end of the trip. The first room was quite nice but the second needed ... an upgrade. The bathroom had a lot mildew on the walls, a cracked sink and the tub didn't drain well. Overall the hotel needs attention to maintenance--burned out light bulbs, remotes that don't work etc.

I liked the fact that the staff from the front desk to housekeeping were helpful and friendly. They were very accomodationg ... since my sister and I got there early in the morning and there was no room available at that time but within an hour of being there they prepared a room for us and it was great since it was on the ground floor towards the back so it was quiet. The room was very clean and the space was good as well. The location was fantastic, O'Connell st was just two minutes away and it was great to take the tour buses and shop. This was our 1st time in Ireland and we will be back and we will consider this hotel to stay again.

Geo's Review of the Belvedere

The mattress on my bed was a big hollow in the middle. It should have been replaced years ago. Room was too small to have a ... chair in, so t.v. had to be watched from bed. Location was good for access to O'Connell St., but not for South of the Liffey locations.

Very simple
Gurlshell Aug 24, 2009
You get what you pay for. The staff is super friendly and helpful, however the low budget hotels across the street give the ... neighborhood a bit of a "sketchy" feeling. I was not pleased that they lock the doors after midnight and you have to knock to be let into the lobby. However, the location was very close to all the buses on O'Connell St. The rooms are very simple and suffice for a short stay however they were not all that clean.

Three Star indeed
Eurocouple Jul 30, 2009
The hotel had a really decent location (right off the main drag). The hotel is over 200 years old and has not really been ... updated that much. The light in our bathroom shorted out because of a water leak so that was a bit scary. We got a great deal on it because we were there during the week. The weekend rates were way too high for what it is worth.

BELVEDERE HOTEL
D Jul 28, 2009
Arrived and a male guest was drunk at the check in counter with only his boxershorts on. The clerk was friendly but still! ... We couldnt park at the hotel as it was extremely over priced at the parking lots outside and there were no spaces. They did offer us a discount at a parking lot 10 minutes walk away which made the price 25EURO per night instead of 44EURO. This is still way too expensive for parking. The room was filled with smoke when we went upstairs which was horrible for me as a non-smoker. All n all, not the best for your money.

Just Far enough from the noise
Biggs Jul 25, 2009
We stayed 4 nights in Dublin. We had a great time. Hotel was close to tour bus route, right around the corner. Bar prices ... seemed somewhat higher than bar across street. But we drank there anyway. Most bar staff was friendly, front desk staff was very helpful in arranging taxis, dining reservations, and just general information. I would recommend this hotel to others. Just a note: no air conditioning and with the window down is got a little noisy in the morning.

The Arlington Hotel was a fantastic show. We went to the one on the river. However I would recommend the one close to Temple Bar area..looks nicer and cleaner. The food is not worth what they charge for it, but the show was well worth it!

Travelling Twenties Jul 12, 2009
This hotel is located near O'Connel street. It is walking distance to really most anything you will want to do in Dublin...if ... you don't mind actually walking. The rooms are not anything fancy, but they are clean and the staff is helpful. We got there at 8 am, and they would have let us check in if they had a room available. They did hold our luggage until a room was ready and we were able to check in around noon...three hours before check in time. Don't get breakfast at the hotel. You can go down O'Connel street a few blocks and get good Irish breakfasts for much less.

We were in Dublin for 3 consecutive days. The first day started with getting off a plane at 6:30 am after 24 hrs of travel. We did the hop-on-hop-off buss, which was a nice intro to the city. We bought the freedom pass (3 days), but we only used it for that one ride. If you're ok with walking I would say save your money. We slept most of the daytime away that day b/c of jet lag. That night we went to the Arlington Hotel where you can see Irish Dancing, hear Irish drinking songs and pull your own Guiness or Carlsburg pints. It was fun...but maybe just go for drinks and not dinner. Dinner was expensive. We bought the Dublin pass for 1 day, and really we could have just paid as we went. If you're a student anywhere you get the student rate, so keep that in mind when trying to decide if you should get the pass or not. We only made it to Trinity College, Guiness, Jameson and St. Patricks in the one day.

Bereal Jun 28, 2009
Excellent location once we located it. Go straight up O'Connell Street and turn right at the church. Street names change ... frequently here. The building is old but that adds to its character. There is a noisy bar across the street so ask for a quiet room on the side street. They upgraded us after a wakeful night.
